  1. I have both and the Quest 2 is definitely a step up in terms of image clarity and virtually no screen door, compared to the Rift S. The only thing I've found is my wifi is not quite good enough to eliminate stutters so I use it with a link cable. Also, with the link cable, I have it connected to a powered USB hub, this way the headset holds it's charge and I can fly for as long as I want without draining the battery. I found that just using the USB ports on my motherboard the headset wasn't getting enough charge and the battery was draining, limiting my time in DCS.
  2. Whoever was flying the P-51 last night that shot down an Anton attacking a flight of B-17s, I appreciated the impromptu airshow as I floated down to earth in my parachute. Very cool in VR!
  3. Ah, I didn't spot that, I was just looking at the mission briefings page. Thanks!
  4. Do the SoW missions run consecutively in the order they're listed on the SoW website, so you can see what mission will be next after the current one ends?
  5. Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I'd prefer a PvP server, I found a couple of Korea 1950s ones. I'm not sure if one of them was the server you mention, I'll have to check the name, but every time I've looked there's not been anyone on them.
  6. So, I tried installing a USB 3.0 expansion card, powered directly from the PSU and plugged the link cable into that, but it still drained power. I then tried an external USB hub, powered from it's own mains plug and I flew on the Storm of War server all night without losing any charge! Strange how it still drained when plugged into an internal powered expansion card but not when plugged into an external powered hub. Anyway, I'm happy I can now enjoy the extra clarity of the Quest 2 and not have to worry about battery drain. Thanks for the suggestions.
  7. I'll have to take a look at that then and maybe try a hub. I've got it plugged into a blue USB 3.0 port on the motherboard but it must be draining more power than it's pulling to charge.
  8. Yes, agreed, but even with the Link cable the battery still drains relatively quickly. If only they'd made a Rift S successor with the fidelity of the Quest 2.
  9. I've got the more comfortable head strap with the extended battery, but the annoying thing is this battery has to be unplugged and is not utilised when using the link cable.
  10. Lately I've been enjoying using the FW-190A8 to seek out and attack ground targets but I'm a bit confused by the large choice of bombs. Which would be the best to carry for general purpose ground attack against a variety of targets? What are the differences between the different bombs of the same weight? Which ones are bugged and which cause the greatest damage? Is it just the Anton that has bugged bombs or are the same bombs bugged on other warbirds? Thanks.
  11. I tried it again, this time using the Link cable and it worked very well. no stutters or lag, so it must have been the wireless buffering or something. And the image quality was very nice too. The only problem is the limited fly time due to the battery draining. Not good if your battery gets critically low and you get disconnected from the server mid flight, this might cause you to receive a strike or ban from the server. So for now I'll stick to using the Rift S online, unless I know I'm going to be doing short missions.
  12. Does anybody use their Quest 2 wireless in multiplayer? I usually use my Rift S because the connection is reliable and I don't have to worry about battery life ending mid server session, but yesterday I thought I'd try the Quest to see what the performance would be like. The extra clarity was nice and fps seemed on par with the Rift S but every few minutes there was horrible slow down and stutter before it would return to normal again, until, after a few minutes it would happen again, almost like it was performing a regular background process, like buffering or a large download or saving a large file. I don't know if it's just my wireless connection or what. I don't think it was anything to do with the server I was on, this never happens with my Rift S. I haven't tried the Quest with the Link cable yet to compare.

  14. Thanks.
  15. I'm enjoying some WW2 action in the warbirds at the moment but sometimes I feel like stepping up an era to the 19050s jets. I see there are some cold war servers but these include 60s, 70s and 80s aircraft. Are there any servers where you can pit exclusively Sabres against MiG-15s?
  16. I had some great fun on here last night flying on the German side. One particular sortie stands out when a bunch of us coordinated over comms to intercept some high flying bombers. Using comms and cooperating in this way really does add to the fun and immersion that you just don't get offline. I still need to work on my warbird skills though. I was the fool who kept crashing into the bombers and who blew his engine trying to chase some high contrailing P47s or P51s before jumping into a Dora.
  17. So does that just affect accessing online content and your Oculus library of games, or will the software still run offline and allow you to still run DCS VR? I'm not home at the moment to try it, just curious whether it will work when I get home tonight if the services are still down. Another downside to the Oculus and the FB tie I suppose. Hopefully it happens very rarely. I didn't notice your post above me. So DCS VR still works? That's good.
  18. Has GS taken the server down? I had it saved in my favourites but it hasn't been appearing over the last few days.
  19. Is Oculus VR down at the moment, along with Facebook etc?
  20. Ah, great stuff! Thank you.
  21. I was flying on the storm of war server yesterday; it doesn't allow external views, which is fine, but afterwards I wanted to watch the replay back of the mission I'd just flown, but on the replay I couldn't watch any external views either. Is there a way to enable the F2, F3 and F4 views on the track replay, or is it hard coded in from the server settings?
  22. Yes, I know where the debug tool is. I've seen some people saying they needed to restart the software for it to take effect. It was the first time I've connected my Quest 2 to the PC in ages, I'll have to go back and try it again and toggle it on and off to check it's working. Thanks for the response.
  23. Yes, I have v33 on both. So it's not an option in the settings anywhere? You have to use the debug tool? Do you know if it's enabled or disabled by default? Thanks,
  24. Is this just using the link cable? I tried my Quest 2 the other day over AirLink and didn't notice any difference. I'm running V33.
  25. It's good that the navigation controls are working. It'll be good to see people start using it in this way, it could make for some cool immersive missions. Are there any servers implementing this yet?
