Thanks for the clarification. It's good that the flip switch can also be used as an axis.

I have a couple of questions about the STEM module that comes with the Standard throttle. Which is the Self-centering 3-position flip switch? Is that the metal toggle? Does that mean it doesn't stay in position when you flip it up or down but returns to centre? Is it possible to configure it like a 3-way toggle, so that it stays in place - up, down and centre? Is the 3-position flip switch the grey plastic one below the metal toggle? Does it come with interchangeable detents like those on the GNX SEM? Can the detent be removed so that it can be configured as an axis, like those on the GNX SEM? Thanks.

I don't know, I'm not sure I know what you mean but I'll have a look next time I'm on. Thanks.

I'm extremely tempted, I have a VKB stick and have been very happy with it. I was holding out for the original TECS for a long time but I bought a WW Orion throttle when my T16000M started glitching on me. And the WW is very good, I've been very happy with that too. The only problem is, I fly solely in VR and the way the buttons and toggles are scattered about on the WW they can be a little hard to find by touch at times. The layout of the standard STECS looks like it would be very suited to VR flying and quite easy to find all the buttons. The only slight negative for me is I wish it also had a row of toggle switches as well as the buttons. There are a lot of control bindings in DCS that are more suited to a toggle on/off, rather than using up two buttons to bind to bind one for on and one for off. Or is there a way in the config software to bind a button to on/else off? Because not all DCS modules have the on/else off binding options. And even if there is a on/else off option, some bindings are just more satisfying and immersive when bound to a toggle.

Yes, I'm getting worse performance too (in VR). I think it's related to the new lightning technology. Every map that is using the new lighting has worse performance when flying at night over cities. I use the Yak-52 Syria free flight mission as a benchmark, which is a dark mission flying low over a city, with the lights on. Previously I had all my settings dialled in so I had good smooth performance, but since the last update, using exactly the same settings, my fps has tanked and I get terrible stuttering. Turning texture settings down etc. doesn't fix it. The only way I can get smooth performance back is if I turn down the resolution of my headset in the OpenXR settings. I can only attribute it to the new lighting.

i5-11600K to i5-13600K, worth the upgrade?
AlpineGTA replied to AlpineGTA's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi, No, I'm still using the 11600K and plan to upgrade the GPU first instead. But I'm still running my 6900XT at the moment as it's still performing pretty well. -
It's working for me in VR.

Some great airshow footage of a Chinook here.

I just like to sit and watch all the flashing colours around the screen border and listen to the electronic sounds of all those bytes loading in off the tape. I think I'm a bit posh, because my Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2 has it's own built in cassette deck.

I've just received my ACE-Torq rudder pedals but I can't get them to work. I've installed the configuration software, updated the firmware, saved a profile and calibrated the axis but they're not showing in DCS controls settings. They're not even showing in Windows games controllers, which lists my Winwing controls fine. The software can clearly see that they're plugged in, so why aren't they working, what am I doing wrong? Thanks. Edit: I sussed it. The device mode was on "OUT" instead of "USB". They're working great now.

Are you saying you have the short screw but you don't have the long one? I measured the length of both; the short one is 1" long and the long one is 1 3/8" long. Or approx. 25mm & 35mm. I don't know the diameter and pitch though, sorry. If you have the short one you could take it to a hardware store, as the previous poster said, and match it. They usually have a gauge of threaded holes along the shelf in the nuts & bolts section where you can try your screw to find the correct pitch. You just need to find one 1 3/8" long.

Yes, it's the exact one I have too, It works very well for me. I'm so used to it now that the other day, when I was using a temporary different HOTAS setup, it felt very strange reaching for the mouse with my right hand. I kept instinctively reaching out with my left.

I have a G2 and an AMD 6900XT and it works fine. However, the overriding consensus seems to be that NVIDIA is the way to go when it comes to VR. I haven't tried an NVIDIA card with VR yet myself but that's what I'll be switching to when I next upgrade, to see what the difference is.

I've owned the Orion 2 HOTAS Metal for just over 3 weeks now. It took exactly 1 week to arrive when I ordered mine. Ordered 22nd April, arrived 29th April. I'm in the US.

High end hotas - which one and why?
AlpineGTA replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've never installed the software for my WinWing, not even for calibration and it works perfectly fine. -
Yes, I have exactly as you describe - a little mouse extension platform on my left, next to my throttle. I fly only in VR and I know where it is at all times without having to feel around for a mouse. I have a left-handed trackball on my left, rather than on my right because it's more convenient to keep my right hand on the stick and use my left hand to click something in the cockpit. It takes a bit of getting used to if you're right handed but it's better than taking my hand off the stick. Especially for warbirds and helicopters.

What delivery times are people currently experiencing from the USA store? I ordered some ACE Torq pedals 4 weeks ago and it's still showing as processing. I knew to expect a long wait but I was just curious how long. What are people experiencing? 6 weeks, 8 weeks, longer? Thanks.

I've noticed a problem with the grip twisting too. I have the screw down collar as tight as I can make it and the small grub screw that's supposed to stop it moving as tight as it will go, most of the time it's ok, but sometimes, in a heated dogfight or something, if I pull a bit harder on the stick I can feel it twist. I never had this issue with my VKB. I think they have a much easier and better way of attaching their sticks. Regarding the OP, it sounds like you need the spring and cams kit. Did you ever purchase it to resolve your issue? I bought the cams and damper kit with my stick and throttle. I haven't tried them because I don't have an extension but the stiffest springs really do feel very strong and obviously aimed at being used with the extension. I actually fitted the softest springs with the no centre cams because I prefer a light stick and I also installed the dampeners to reduce the waggle back and forth that you get when releasing the stick to centre.

HOTAS Desk Mount Recommendations
AlpineGTA replied to shastasm's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Very nice desk. I'll have to post an update on mine later and how I've found the mounts after a week or so of use. -
Ok, thanks. I've been trying that, I just haven't seen it yet then.

I've never seen a rainbow in DCS, what settings are needed to create them?
