  1. Just read it in S1G discord. Not much to say really, your post sums it all.. BTW can we have the standings updated and actually who will be flying with who in the quarters? If I get it right the couples are 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th? Then the winner of the first couple meets the 2nd in the semis, the second couple the 1st?
  2. Link to that server please? I'm not able to find it in the directory.
  3. The only way I'm able to somehow use RWS/TWS/STT for fighter size target is 1-bar scan with 15-degrees azimuth scan cone and loooots of antenna movement (azimuth and especially elevation). Multibar scan can be scratched completely, wider azimuth scan cones are also seeming ineffective.
  4. Because of that reason I'm only using 1-bar scan and I play with the antenna elevation up-down like mad. However, I'm observing another strange behavior - contact once within the 1-bar scan area jumps randomly in range (from 5 to 20nm) without me being able to track it. Switching to VS mode automatically established a solid lock on the bandit ... 4nm on my nose :/ I really hope for the radar will get some attention as the cockpit and other systems did
  5. Being fire-and-forget for an IR missile it's natural the effective range to depend on the seeker/target IR signature while the semi-active depends on radar lock. Other than that the R-27E() missile variants share the same body (rocket motor, warhead, controls).
  6. I would put to bed the R-73/23MLD topic. It's known to have been tested but this ability has been (if at all) available in a very limited number of Soviet MLD's. The last serial produced MLD's served with the Bulgarian AF and still had 60M as short range missile.
  7. Depends which range you mean. ER and ET are actually one and the same missile with different seeker (semi-active vs IR) so in theory their range in terms of flight envelope should be the same. The 77 I'd put in the same boat as 27R/7M while the 530D in between those short sticks and 120B.
  8. In the 29 I go with 1xET, 1xER, 2x77 and 2x73. The 77 I see only good in WVR combat where the adversary would be expecting your 73's which are becoming more flare-happy as DCS evolves. The J-11 I don't fly. I stick to stock 27/33 again due the silly range of the 77. The ER might be less resistant to chaff/notch and often goes dumb off the rail but sometimes tracks like a shark smelling blood. Having more of them on board definitely gives safer options in BVR. Ummm, that's debatable..
  9. 3D model and textures will be without nay doubt photo-realistic but I'd like to hear more about the planned paid systems update - Igla A2A missiles, missile warning system and IR jammer. https://stormbirds.blog/2019/05/31/dcs-ka-50-mi-24p-wwii-asset-pack-updates/
  10. Regardless of it's guidance it still seems pointless of having ARH missile for within visual range engagement.
  11. The TWS launch regardless whether it's a single shot or salvo of two in the MiG-29S gives immediate warning as soon as the missile(s) goes off the rail. I personally ignore the R-77. It tracks better than the ER and it is extremely maneuverable but it's pathetic range is just meh. For a close combat fight there's the R-73.
  12. AFAIK the wing in Spangdahlem operates block 50's. Apparently that one in particular has had the damage model implemented. Sorry, couldn't resist :D Of course, glad to know the pilot is safe. Those type of incidents a part of any type of aircraft operation with a certain probability.
  13. So I guess we don't have to signup in advance, we just join side of preference and stick to it till it's over?
  14. Actually it's been there since the very first announcement, I must have been blind :)
  15. For a casual day-to-day flying that could be an option but my understanding is that for competitive event (as this one appears to be) there must be some sort of rules on that matter based not only on numbers.
  16. But then it doesn't make much sense to score if one (or a whole squad) changes side every day. I'd guess there should be some sort of a quota per side. Or whichever side you pick you stick to it till the end. Otherwise what happens if everyone joins one side only?
  17. Is there a deadline and/or limit of signup? Are squads able to signup as a whole or should be on individual level?
  18. Hi 101, I'm not sure if it was you with whom I had the chat in Discord a couple of hours ago but just in case to confirm here one more time - our team relies on the Hornet quiet a lot and the guys are not happy to switch the airframe. We're standing by for the new schedule.
  19. It's really annoying that one model can ruin the whole experience... Shame.
  20. And there have been how many forfeits? It seems to me like we're steering too much attention to the void..
  21. That's perhaps only for the 'P' model which has served exclusively within PVO of USSR and has never been exported. The MLA we're supposed to get shouldn't have such capabilities.
  22. I guess there must be a semi-automatic mode which would give flight path commands via flight directors for the pilot to follow. That would be neat. AFAIK except analogue data like flight path it can also trigger single commands like "Engage AB", "Radar PRF HI/MED" etc
