Why can't Jester align the INS before the engines are on?
Bremspropeller replied to Leviathan667's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Not really - certainly not with the aircraft/ procedures I'm familiar with. All of them have batteries, which will protect against spikes and surges during the process of switching the power-source (which you'll do anyway when switching from APU to ENG GEN). Lots of airports have limitations on APU-usage and it's not uncommon to fire it up just shortly before the push. If it's not MEL'ed, which also happens every once in a while. The Tomcat doesn't have a bat, which is the reason you don't want to fuxx0r with your power-supply with the INS up and running. -
what is Your personal DCS wishlist (and not just flyable mods)
Bremspropeller replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It wasn't used in Korea. The La-9 or La-11 were. Might seem "close enough" at first glance, but they have about as much in common as a Typhoon and a Sea Fury. -
+1! Proper AI Badgers and Bears (in several versions) would be cool to bump up carrier ops and some land-based scenarios. Same appliesfor a plain-Jane Tu-22.

Some fleshed out SAR (and CSAR) could be really fun in the upcoming C-130. Find people in the ocean in really $hitty weather, drop a dinghy and coordinate the rescue effort. -
I'd buy t in a heartbeat.

Awesome, thanks a lot Panny! -
This would be the perfect skin for them - fitting tailcode and stuff...

Does anybody know where to get the VF-33 1991 skin pack? Seems like the linked google folder is empty https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3322758/ -

Eine noch richtigerere A? Du meinst ohne TCS-Doppelkinn und ohne die Tankstummel? Wo muss ich unterschreiben? Letzteres wird leider nicht kommen - zumindest auf das Weglassen des TCS hoffe ich noch...

F-14B V Su-27 ACM Guns Only Caucuses Instant Action Mission
Bremspropeller replied to bonesvf103's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I just did the single mission in the 14A and stuck to purely buster. Was a piece of cake to just park there in neutral/ offensive and watch the Flanker waste all his gas. Had more than 7000lbs of gas left when he went for his paratrooper-upgrade. Sometimes, not going around the corner and putting the thing on the thing is the easier way round... Coming back to the cat after flying the F1 vs the Fishbed for several weeks seems like candy from a duck to water. Or something. It's time the AI get their GFM. -

Force to be applied on the stick of real fighter
Bremspropeller replied to lricca's topic in Military and Aviation
That's the pull required toget from 9g (elastic stop) to 11g IIRC. Kind of similar to hitting the paddle on the Hornet. -
Chers gang, seems like the four Sidewinder layout was made available in the mid 80s, when Greece decided it wanted more missiles on their F1s. Looks like the aircraft was initially delivered without any R530 or Super 530 capability whatsoever and the radar even lacked some illuminator features which would have had to be reintroduced when Greece sought to upgrade their F1s to Sparrow-capability during an earlier projected programme, which faltered. How did the outboard wing Sidewinders get integrated? Seems to me - at least from this pit builder's site - the stores-select buttons were arranged in the same way as in the other F1Cs: https://www.modellingnews.gr/el/editorial/ενα-mirage-f1cg-ξαναζεί-μετά-από-15-χρόνια Hence, I guess the lefternmost were for the tips and the second lerfternmost were for the wing-Sidewinderst, instead of the 530s. How would those Sidewinders be priorized by the weapon computer? Was it left-first/ seeker locked first, as it is with the CE, or was there any other type of priorization? Could all Sidewinders be selected at the same time and would there be any priorization between wing-stations and tips? Also, could the Sidewinders also all be brought forward with the missile override switch (C+M or whatever it's called)? Now, why am I asking all this. Quite simple: I'm really liking the idea of having four Sidewinders. I think this option could be quite feasible and it might be rather simple to implement (while appeasing the purists): - either have a checkmark in the mission builder that enables four winders at the cost of (Super) 530 capability - or have the outboard wing winders and 530s be exclusionary loadouts, like the centerline and wing 530s already are I think it's a relatively simple modification, enabling more scenarios while not costing too much credibility in the realism-department. Bonus question: What kind of bomb-racks are those on the inboard wing and do they come with fuel als their voluminosity might suggest? https://www.airliners.net/photo/Greece-Air-Force/Dassault-Mirage-F1CG/1494821/L

All of those planes got nothing on the Jag: - will only lift off due to Earth's curvature - and that's with the POWERFUL 104 and 106 motors - NAVWASS has enough RAM to either guide you OR work on a weapon-solution (if it didn't already tumble during takeoff-roll) - may or may not have heaters on top of the wing - will depart and swap ends easily with a central fuselage store - needs partial-throttle reheat to not fall back from the tanker - and that's when doing a tobbogan - or chose the french version with two Adour 102 afterburning hairdriers, no INS (but a doppler) but light enough to gun your a$$ during DACT

You're missing the premise. Since going from max loiter or max range cruise to a max velocity at launch in the shortest possible time is key, acceleration beats top speed. The 1960s just called and they want their tactics back.

fixed LE Droop deflection angle
Bremspropeller replied to Bremspropeller's topic in Bugs and Problems
Flaps on Landing. There's no difference between Autoslat, Combat Flap and manual Flaps in terms of LE devices in game. Whereas IRL: Autoslat. Combat Flaps or manual Flaps. So in conclusion: 1) LE device travel is not enough in game (seems about half of the IRL travel) 2) LE device schedules aren't accurate: Max travel for the inboard LE-droops is 25° - no matter if flaps manual, combat flaps or auto-slats. Max travel for the outboard slats is 15° in auto-slats and 26° for combat-flap or manual flap. Seems like both are always only extending to ~15°. -
fixed LE Droop deflection angle
Bremspropeller replied to Bremspropeller's topic in Bugs and Problems
Any takers? The LE device deflection downwards is about half the realistic travel. Max travel for the inboard LE-droops is 25° - no matter if flaps manual, combat flaps or auto-slats. Max travel for the outboard slats is 15° in auto-slats and 26° for combat-flap or manual flap. For autoslats, check about 7:10min and 7:50min (pull-up) and 15:10 (form barrel roll). For combat-flaps (or manual) check around 8:00min: The apparent travel of the outboard slat is different in both instances. Also compare the apparent size (projected size) of the LE devices with the look in game. -
I think so. Makes a lot of sense, because it doesn't artificially constrain playability. You forgot the BE Also, most Cs were relatively close in between each other. Apart from the moroccan CH models, which for example had a doppler nav suite, which made it similar to the nav capabilities of some simpler Es (like the libyan ED).

You can tell by the slat track fairings just above the external tank on the outboard station. Compare this to the EJ, which has none: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Japan-Air-Force/McDonnell-Douglas-Mitsubishi-F-4EJ-Kai-Phantom-II/1879939/L I think they really are identical.

Some greek (and turkish?) RF-4Es do have slatted wings.
