Depends. The Kfir C2 isn't really that much of an impressive aircraft, compared to what some Mirage III/5/50 variants could do. It's particularily lacking in the radar department. The Mirage and Nesher could carry quite a bit. It's not like the Nesher/ Mirage 5 lacked conventional bombing capability: What the Kfir later added was two additional pylons below the fwd wing-root. Like on this Kfir COA (colombian C.10).

Because it's predominantly a high(er) altitude interceptor. As others have said, Dassault built to user-spec, so if it's not in, Spain didn't ask for it. None, quite frankly. You'll have to go en francais, mon ami. The closest thing is prolly one of the Jane's journals, but that's only one chapter about the F1, so it's not quite a book. The best book on the F1 is the two volume LeLaPresse edition. Vol 2 is only about the F1 in service. Vol 1 is more of the development history and other projects, such as the Mirage G. Maybe you can find a Vol 2 in the bay. Prepare to say goodbye to lots of cash, though.

The Hun smells like napalm in the morning. But it also comes in handy on the Syria map. It was used in the Cyprus war in '74 with the TuAF and it may come in handy in RDAF service on the Kola map.

Have you tried going Buster (full dry)? The engine's RPM shouldn't change when *just* coming out of burner and that should include Survitesse (~500RPM increase that happens at that speed).

True, but the F-8E had more kills, flew a duckton more missions (including with the Marines from Da Nang) and has the quirkier handling around the boat. The BLC and additional drag by that 40° flap setting helped curing the Crusader's speed-instability in the pattern. It also took the fun out of landing on an Essex class boat with a speed-unstable airplane at 140kts at night... What they didn't fix with the J was the throttle-lag of the J57 engine, which is going to get a lot of people the first time they'll try to trap. And the consecutive 50 times...

The F-4E were're getting technically flewa couple ofsorties during the tail-end ofthe Vietnam war. The F-8J is a full-up late Vietnam module. TheA-7E flew sorties during Linebackers I and II and if you leave the FLIR pod at home (and don'tmind the FLIR-imaging HUD), it's also quite alright. If you INOP the TRAM on the A-6E, you can get away pretendng to be an early A-6E. Not all hope is lost in terms of the "Vietnamisation" of DCS

But only on the time-axis, really. It's going to be a slug against the Farmer, unless you're a really (no, like, *really*) good pilot. The Delta Hun was essentially a nuclear bomber (using LABS) and isn't going to be great against contemporary soviet fighters, when starting on even terms. It did rack at least one kill (a Fresco) in Vietnam early on. It's a great fighter-bomber and what a looker it is! You'll love the afterburner light-off.

I'm quite sure we'll get a map that coincides with the stomping grounds of the western/ southern YKW front. This would extend as far south as Luxor/ Hurghada and possibly even Aswan, maybe even including parts of the Nasser Reservoir. Not including the Nile and Nile Delte would be so stupid, ED wouldn't hand out an agreement. Most of the area is just desert, after all. See you over Tanta!

This is roundabout what Sinai is supposed to look like. Lotsa sand, but also a couple of green patches and a bit of water. It could be worse. What's really worse in my book is that we're supposed to play on this map in a 2000s timeframe. We need more CW assets to play with - no matter which map we're playing on.

I'd actually argue the opposite is true, since the single-spool turbojet's compressor blades are mostly working far off their max efficiency point and hence aren't brought to a stall as easily as in a two- or three-spool design, where a greater pressure-ratio can be achieved across a single blade, creating a more adverse pressure-gradient under non optimal intake-flow (e.g. high alpha, beta or combinations of the two) or transient conditions. Not sure whether the Atar uses bleed-air for compressor-stability, but in general terms, a low pressure-ratio across the compressor should indicate a higher resistance to stalls. It helps having only nine compressor-stages (the J79 had 17 and needed VSVs and bleed-air to make it's magic happen). The J65 in the Skyhawk had no gun-gas ingestion issues. The two-spool J52 had. The Orpheus also seems to have been quite fool-proof. The single-spool turbofan (somebody actually came up with that!) M53 also seems quite carefree.

Ja, das habe ich auch so gelesen. Macht nur so überhaupt keinen Sinn, weil Landschaft angucken kann ich im MSFS besser. Die einzigen gängigen Konflikte auf dem Map sind irgendwelche IS-Hanseln, die von Ägypten per Drohne erledigt werden (Sinai), oder eben Gaza. Beides nicht sonderlich reichhaltig aus der Luft-Perspektive. Und die alten Kriege mit modernem Gerät - naja, dafür brauche ich auch am Ende auch keine neue Map für einen Haufen an Devisen. Mit einigen Standardassets (z.B. zwei, drei zusätzliche MiG-17er und MiG-21er - analog mit westlichen CW Standardflugzeugen) kann man die meisten Maps/ Konflikte ganz gut ausstaffieren. Alle Assets einer Map werden wir so oder so nie haben. Wenn man die Module bei der Entwicklung halbwegs clever wählt, kann man schon einige Maps/ Konflikte recht gut abdecken. Die Kfir ist ein gutes Beispiel für "knapp daneben ist auch vorbei".

Je nachdem wie eng man den historischen Kontext fasst, hätte ich es nicht schöner sagen können Die MiG-21 ist jedenfalls falsch und die HB Phantom wurde gerade mal ein paar Tage am Ende des YKW eingsetzt, weil sie unter Operation Nickel Grass direkt von der USAF geliefert wurden. Die MiG-19 dürfte auch die falsche sein. Mirage? (Super) Mystère? Tu-16? IL-28? MiG-17? Passende Fishbed? Da kann sich ED nochmal gehörig mit den CW Assets strecken. Immerhin haben wir den A-4 Mod. Sandbox-Szenarien sind auch gut. Der springende Punkt ist aber auch, warum man eine konkrete Map ohne die eigentlich dazu gehörigen Flugzeuge/ Assets haben sollte. Auf der Sinai-Map wären das fünf Konflikte (isr. Unabhängigkeitskrieg, Suezkrise, Sechstagekrieg, Abnutzungskrieg und Yom Kipr Krieg) mit entsprechend breiten Spektren an Assets/Modulen. Vorteil hier ist, dass man mit geschickter Wahl der Module auch viele andere Konflikte abdecken kann.

Angeblich die IIIEA als Modul und die Dagger, IIICJ und einen Doppelsitzer als Assets. Your mileage may vary. Informationen sind spärlich. Die IIIEA ist auch mehr eine Trauerversion (z.B. kein Dopplerradar, keine AS30 oder AS37 Kapazität, kein TACAN oder RadAlt, kein RWR).

IDF and libyan Mirages clashed during this conflict and libyan Mirages were shot down. When Libya and Egypt later clashedintheir border war, a libyan Mirage supposedly shot down an egyptian MiG-21. **Egypt first bought their Mirages via Saudi Arabia, having them carry saudi insignia during their delivery flights, and later procured them directly. A couple of egyptian 5SDE haven been used in the Iran-Iraq war (on the iraqi side) and supposedly one has been shot down by an IRIAF F-4. The surviving aircraft have been modded (twice) and have gotten a fairly high tech cockpit (comparable to the ROSE upgrades in Pakistan) during the early 2000s.

Damit nicht gleich wieder ein Foren-Blockwart mahnend einschreitet und uns zum Zurückkommen auf das eigentliche Thema antreibt: Die Sinai-Map ist im eigentlichen Sinne die totale Mirage Map: Israel: - Mirage IIICJ / Mirage IIICJmod (Letztere ist eine IIICJ ohne Radar und mit Atar 9C) => fehlt - Nesher (de facto eine Mirage 5) => fehlt - Kfir => kommt irgendwann Jordanien: - Mirage F1CJ (ähnlich unserer CE) => haben wir - Mirage F1EJ (besser als die EE, recht nahe an der EQ5) => werden wir so halb haben Libyen (schickte während des YKW Mirage nach Ägypten): - Mirage 5DE (de facto eine Mirage IIIE) => fehlt - Mirage 5D (de facto eine Mirage 5) => fehlt Ägypten (kaufte später selber Mirage - erst über Saudi Arabien,dann komplett selbst): - Mirage 5SDE (de facto eine Mirage IIIE) => fehlt - Mirage 5E2 (de facto eine Mirage 5) => fehlt - Mirage 2000EM => sollte halbwegs deckungsgleich mit der 2000C RDI sein, eher etwas schwächer Für die Jünger des gepflegten Fernsehers im Cockpit wären die Mirage Ägyptens, die unter "Project Horus" kampfwertgesteigert wurden (die zweite KWS der ägyptischen Mirage), recht interessant. "De facto eine Mirage x" bedeutet nicht, dass es keine tiefgreifenden Unterschiede zwischen dem Muster hier und dem Vergleichsmuster gibt.

Schmutzige Sachen machen sie doch schon. Dieser ganze Popanz um das beschossene AKW ist nichts als Bedienen der irrationalen Ängste der Deutschen vor dem bösen Atom. Nein. Problem bei solchen Hochwertflugzeugen ist ja, dass sie ganz schnell "Berater" anziehen, die sich die Dinger näher angucken. Nicht zuletzt deswegen ist man damit immer sparsam umgegangen. In Zukunft wird das anders aussehen (müssen). Dazu gibt es recht wenige F-22. Man will ja nicht Flugstunden auffressen, um mit einem höchstwertflugzeug Kamele zu bombardieren, wenn das ein deutlich günstigeres Flugzeug genau so gut kann. Das Abfeiern des Abschusses der F-117 zeigt doch, wie wenig die Serben tatsächlich ausrichten konnten, wenn der Verlust eines einzigen Flugzeugs solche Wellen schlägt. Dass diese Flugzeuge aber unzählige Einsätze in überaus heißen Lufträumen hinter sich hatten, wird dabei gerne vergessen. Klassische Ostblockpropaganda eben.
