  1. I found a set at provantage.com. They said they were available and ordered them for $54. I thought they'd be shipped but i emailed them and they said the vendor they go through estimated a ship date on them for the 1/11/11. A little delay but for $50 you can't go wrong.
  2. Agreed...
  3. I was thinking the same thing that it was because of a static object. I set up another assigned target just after the static tRget and the fac just gave the nine line for the shilka and bypassed the static object.
  4. I was wondering if anybody who has the know how could point me in the right direction on creating detailed mission briefings. I've seen more detailed briefings for some missions with more than one page for the briefing, added images, graphics on the mission map etc.. Does anybody know how to do this or perhaps it's not possible yet with current build of the sim? Thanks for any help.
  5. Are you pulling up the VHF2 radio.Just setting it will not do it. There are two VHF radios and one UHF. VHF 1 top most, UHF is in the middle, and VHF2 is the bottom radio. VHF1 has a higher band of frequencies, and VHF2 a lower band of frequencies. You have to dial a frequency of 30 into VHF2 then call up that radio. For example: I set my vhf1 to the airpports ATC which for this ission Nalchick is 136 MHX i believe, and i set the vhf2 to 30 MHz. I use the warthog as my hotas so i just go back on the mic hat and i pull up vhf2 and i get a menu and select f4 for jtac, If i push forward i pull up vhf1 which gives me the same menu and if i go f4 for jtac i dont get the firefly option. hope this helps
  6. I'll try mapping it in the same way. Thanks so much for the tip.
  7. How would you model front and back seats of any jet? Have the AI fly the jet when you switch to the back seat position?
  8. You need to broadcast your SPI, but you also need to remember ( i forget what OSB it is... i think its 17 ) to switch your SPI to broadcast on the TAD.
  9. I hear what you are saying, but the dynamic mission generator is quite impressive and extremely immersive enabling the feel of a dynamic campaign without resorting to the use of a bubble to give the illusion that you are actually flying in a dynamic campaign. To create a full fledged dynamic campaign with the level of realism and "graphics" DCS brings to the table, you would need 10 million dollars to afford the super personal computer needed to run it and be able to see everything going on the entire theatre and not just little colored boxes moving around a mission map. The dynamic mission generator is fantastic and a big step forward and perhaps when the standard systems reach enough power to implement a dynamic campaign DCS will put the limited resources ( in the grand scheme of things) behind the dev. of a dynamic campaign.
  10. I haven't tried this but you should be able to add a trigger zone, then set it up that once you enter or the ai enters that trigger zone, you have the unit perform an action such as drop a signal flare or smoke marker on or not on a specified unit. I've done it for myself in practice runs where i have a trigger set off a certain colored smoke to mark targerts etc... In short, use triggers.... that should do it. Another option though is that you can select the waypoint for that AI aircraft or unit, and in the advanced tab add a perform task command for that waypoint with start and stop conditions to perform a task, but i think the options are limited to things like fire at spot ( not sure if you can get more specific )
  11. I would mount the CPU, then the HS to the mobo, then install the mobo with the hs/fan on the cpu into the case. Unless you have a hs/fan that is a top down clip type of mount i guess you could do the hs after you installed the mobo to the case, but a lot of heat sinks are bracketed from the bottom of the mobo mounted with screws atop the cpu. having the mobo in the case already mounted would make mounting a hs in this way not the easiest of tasks.
  12. I've tried doing this but it doesn't work for me. I don't see any differences when trying to raise or lower the gain with these key presses.
  13. I played the 02 mission. Nice mission. Really liked the atmosphere and really well done the the single FAC calling out those targets in sequential order. My only problem was that it's really hard to pick up the sparkle with the NV goggles with the gain so high and no way to adjust them. ( Once I hooked the data then set it as SPI and slew the MAV to the SPI and set the MAV to TRACK it locked immedetly but still could not see the mark...fired anyway and hit it but it was blind) I'd set the time of the mission or TOT at those waypoints to coincide with it being darker outside to cut back on the goggle intensity. Also, I think there is a bug with the GBU-12's. The bombs hit about 5-10 degrees off to the left and had it LSS tracking the target perfectly. Other than that it was a nice mission.
  14. My TIR4 with running 64bit is running perfectly. You need to download and install the 5.1 beta of the tir software and you need to be running at the very least beta3 of A10
  15. First thing you do is pull up only the axis commands menu in Dcs a10 under control options. Find the hotas warthog throttle column. ( there should be 2 ....one for the stick and another for the throttle). At the bottom there is the zoom in/out key board command. Double click in that row under the throttle column and it will pull up a new window for the axis. Then move the slider and you should see it assign automatically in that window. Close the window and your new assignment will be shown for throttle in the zoom out/in row. Make sure there are no other assignments there say under your stick or tir column of whatever other input device for that axis.
  16. That's a good idea. Here it is. Pinpoint strike night.miz
  17. That's the problem. I can't signal it. I get no menu option under the jtac coms menu, just a blank menu.
  18. I've set up a simple lgb mission at night. I'm using an infantry squad as the JFAC. I have a trigger to set off a message and spawn the JFAC which works as planned. However, when i make the call to the JTAC by going: VHF1>F4(JTAC)>im getting no option beyond this to signal the JTAC. I have the infantry group under advanced settings as follows: 1: Set callsign (Anvil) 2: Set frequency 131 3: invisible (true) 4: FAC-Assign Group (Camp) I've set up a similar CAS mission where i use infantry as my jfac and that seems to work but this mission is not working for me. Would anybody know what's the problem here? thanks for any help. I am using a static object (Command center) as the target to assign.
  19. I was wondering if presets are working functional yet? I tried to load presets into VHF1. Steps: 1: Set to TR 2: Mode to Preset 3: dial in first freqency on preset #1, click load 4: dial in second freqency on preset #2, click load When i turn the dial to 1 the frequency indicators are still locked on the frequency I dialed in for preset 2.
  20. I tried the kindos route but the cost was way more than i expected. I just printed the entire thing out on the color laser at my work, purchased 3 very large ring binders with inserts and just created my own.
  21. If you plan on buying this then it would be in your best interest that you pre-purchase, download the beta and get started familiarizing yourself with the sim. There is an extremely steep learning curve and by the time the release candidate is released you can jump right into it.
  22. Just double click the slot ( this should bring up a new window for axis assignment) under the warthog throttle column for zoom in/out and just move the rotary and it should auto-detect.
  23. Is anyone getting this disk request during install. I downloaded the 3 to 4 patch .. ( setup, setup-1.bin) files. First double click setup, then it asks me to insert disk 1 or browse to folder where setup-1 is located, but it still doesn't find it and im forced to back out.) anybody see this and have a solution? fixed... setup-1 was named wrong.. should be setup-1-1
  24. I had this issue because i installed without unplugging the camera. Unplug the camera, uninstall previous version completely, reinstall latest version, then plug the camera back in.. let windows recognize and install drivers.. your good to go.
  25. The manpad must be a high profile target! lol
