I concur with this thread. Love this map and the assets that are currently available. Great work. Can't wait for the future additions and how the map progresses.

For the time being, you can simulate by using the Flak script. Since there are no air defense units available yet, you could just substitute those units with thinner armored panzerI tanks - I believe an 88 battery was 4 guns, so use 4 tanks to substitute. Just add a trigger to stop the script from running once the simulated 88's are dead. In my hands, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't in 2.1, but it is a temporary solution while we wait for future units.

The asset pack is still in early alpha, and I think currently there are only two troop transport ships available. I don't know about invasion scenario's, but you could, in the interim, individually build an invasion fleet - it would be just the transport ships with no landing craft, troops, or support ships - and save it as a template that could be just dropped onto the map en masse.

Thanks for the response Wags. Appreciate it.

Firstly, hats off to the dev's for the fantastic work. A very big thank you. Both the map and what asset pack units I've seen are beautiful. I've gotten both the map and asset pack downloaded, and can see in the ME some German armor units, the M4 Sherman, Train sections, the B17G, and a few other units. I know it's all still very much in the alpha stage and have read that the AAA units are currently not available, but is there a list floating around of the units that currently are available; or, conversely, of the units that are currently unavailable? Thanks

Mine doesn't show the serial numbers either, but everything seems to be working just fine.

This worked. Using this: DCS_updater.exe install NORMANDY_terrain WWII-ARMOUR another ~6.5gb's Both are downloading. I guess another few hours. Thanks

No joy here as well - the updater doesn't detect any available updates. System must be swamped.

IMPORTANT MiG-21bis StarForce PATCH - APRIL 2017
DocSigma replied to Dolphin887's topic in MiG-21Bis
Cool. Thanks a bunch. Just to be clear, I deactivated the module prior to last patch, which sort of deactivated the module for all dcs versions. I have not reactivated since I was waiting on this upcoming patch. As I understand it, just make sure Mig21 is checked within how many versions of DCS you are currently patching on Friday, close her down, then patch on Friday? Again, thanks Dolphin. -

IMPORTANT MiG-21bis StarForce PATCH - MARCH 2017
DocSigma replied to Dolphin887's topic in MiG-21Bis
I followed the steps in the pdf, - very much appreciated - updated beta and 2.0 yesterday, and I get a request to activate the module in all three installs. I didn't reactivate. As i understand it, I should just wait till a patch for both 2.0 and the stable build is released before reactivating. Is this accurate? Thanks for the comprehensive .pdf explaining all of this in detail. -
I've noticed this as well. It seems that anything that hits the plane - regardless of location - damages the governor.

It's a bit of getting used to, but so worth it just to hear the Merlin engine pop and crackle when you decrease boost during taxi.

A DH 98 Mosquito would be a welcome addition as well.

Thanks for the reply. I tried erasing the profiles in my saved games directory and just reinstalling the default profiles from the install directory, and it still kept defaulting to that off center view. I eventuallh unchecked a few options in my config menu such as the VR stuff and an option that was checked that saves snap views. After unchecking these few things, the sim finally loaded up to the correctly centered position. Im not sure if what i unchecked fixed it, but if there is a keyboard mapping that locks the center view then I'll definitely have to find this function for furture reference in case it happens again. Thanks for the reply.

Just purchased the Viggen. Jumped in the cockpit to start familiarizing myself with the controls and overall layout. Began the cold start tutorial. Midway through the tutorial, my view within the cockpit suddenly centered looking down and to the left. I tried centering the view with the keyboard commands, but that didn't work. Since this has happened, every time I get in the cockpit my centered view is looking down and to the left in the cockpit. I tried loading up a mission with trackir disconnected and still, down and to the left. Getting in the cockpit of other jets, the view is working as expected. It just seems to be a problem with the Viggen. Im a little lost about how to go about remedying this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just recently installed 2.0 so I don't have that much time playing on the Nevada terrain, but I don't think Nellis - if that's the airstrip you're referring to - has an ILS. Click on the airbase in the F10 view and you will see that there is no listed ILS frequency.

Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread
DocSigma replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Regardless of how it's implemented, a dynamic campaign fills a void I think DCS is lacking: a sense of continuity. A previous poster astutely pointed out that there is a significant number of BMS supporters, in the current high fidelity world of DCS, that have an unwavering loyalty to BMS. I don't think the generation of a dynamic campaign should be at the top of ED's priority list, but it should be, for the sake of giving DCS world a real sense of continuity, at least in the top ten - it gives the sim a sense of purpose beyond learning all the clickable startup steps and the minutia behind every on-board avionics system. -
I think there is a bug when you intersect - not capture - the glide slope. It is impossible to center the open box, much less place the fpm within the box; it's been impossible to center it on the HUD. I'm no expert and I'm probably wrong as to what to fly once you intersect the GS, but getting the fpm inside the open box has been impossible. Once the Glideslope is catured and the open box becomes a closed box, everything seems to be working as it should. Perhaps someone can clarify what indicators to fly prior to glide slope intersect - the open box phase.

What do we do with version 1.5.2. Beta now....
DocSigma replied to fitness88's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Also, keeping the beta might expedite the installation of updates to the release version if the existing beta update is already updated with new material. When I updated my release version to 1.5 it detected my updated beta 1.5 and just copied files over to my 1.2 install - everything was already downloaded for my 1.5beta. -
What he said. Enable radar ranging, and you have to get very low - right on top of your target at a fairly steep dive angle - before you pickle off your bombs. Also, since CCIP isn't the most accurate method I always ripple my bombs in pairs with about 30 - 40meter spacing to ensure at least one will impact my target.

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
DocSigma replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Awesome news! An easy day one purchase for me. Any idea on the timetable for release? The obvious answer of course is when it's done, - as it always should be - but are you guys shooting for an end of year release or sometime in 2016?
