  1. At best my system is at the minimum system requirements. I know the obvious solution to increase performance would be to build a new system, but for the moment I was thinking about upgrading my current system in a way that would give it a significant improvement in game performance in DCS. With all settings settings set to max im able to run the sim at 1920x1200 at about 30fps with the occasional dips here and there during increased action. If I lower the res. to 1600x1200, and drop settings, such as: Scenes: medium Water: low Heat blur: off preload radius: down to 10000 Clutter: 0 MSAA: 4x Cockpit shadows:off My average fps expectantly increases to 45-50 - much more playable and smoother. I ran a few tests using hardwaremonitor to attempt to diagnose where the bottlenecks are in my system as it pertains to DCS. I performed two tests. Test1 is with the lower/playable settings and Test2 is with everything maxed. I set the app to monitor load on the CPU, Mem, and GPU. Would you say my primary problem in terms of DCS performance is just the raw power of my GPU? I know my 6gb of mem is minimum and was thinking about upping my system mem to 8gb, but in both tests memory load didn't seem to go beyond 80%. My CPU is running over 4ghz and the load during play for 30mins didn't get above 20% ( I know DCS is more dependent on raw MHZ and not so much on Core utilization). Would I be correct in saying that my primary deterrent to improved performance in DCS is my GPU and secondarily my system memory? My plan was to upgrade my card to maybe a R9 280x or a GTX700 series and my mem to 8gb. Do you think - looking at these two graphs - that this upgrade would yield noticeable gains in framerate or not worth it. Thanks for taking the time and any suggestions. It's very appreciated.
  2. I'm having problems with the configurator. First off, thanks Icemaker for putting in the effort and time to produce this utility. Secondly, I'm not seeing the export tabs, just the misc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I just downloaded DCS world, installed A10 through module manager, and imported my monitor setup .lua files. I am running two monitors configured in windows to be stacked. Top monitor is 1920x1200 and 2nd montor is 1680x1050. I was running everything on the center monitor and displaying helios and the two mfcd's on the 2nd. Cant seem to figure out how to get the two mfcd's to show up on my 2nd monitor. Im running not in full screen. Here is my .lua file for my setup. Any help would be great. thanks so much.
  4. Hi, I've flown the previous version of A10C and have the 1.1.1.0 version currently installed. I don't have DCS World ( am currently downloading). Do I just install DCS world and let it upgrade my current version of A10C from there, or do I need to uninstall the version installed and download the newest module for it to run properly with DCS world? Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. Thanks so much.
  5. I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned previously, but TARGET is extremely versatile. Plus, the throttle is modeled after the 15C/E configuration and at the very least its a duel axis throttle so if DCS puts out a F18, or even better, an F15E, then you'd be all set. I don't think Thrustmaster will release a new HOTAS around the next DCS module, but the flight stick is removable so perhaps a stick modeled for the next dcs module.
  6. DCS style space combat sim! I want wing commander prophecy or Freespace2 on mega mega steroids. DCS level of detail and complexity, cutting edge graphics engine, click able cockpit with at least a 150 knobs, switches, and rotaries.
  7. Never had a problem by applying just the patch atop a previously installed version.
  8. I love going through the process. I don't think I've ever started from the air or runway. It adds immensely to the realism; however, with that said, each to there own, and for some I'm sure getting in the air as quick as possible is a plus. I'm all for options in the sim that a player can take to make it most enjoyable for them. It adds to the player base which in turn gives combat simulations legs for the future.
  9. Shogun II is great.. been playing it since release. My only slight on it is the size of it, but I guess that goes with Feudal Japan. I still think Napoleon was just right in scope but then again different era etc... Anyway, just to add Shogun is great and definitely one the best CA has made thus far. Here's hoping for a Rome2 after Shogun if CA maintains this sort of trend.
  10. The explosions aren't that bad, besides I think if you were to make the explosions much larger with added particle effects performance would suffer. Also, in order of priority of things that need to be addressed is: 1: Any tweaking with the flight model and avionics that arise 2: Tweaking the overal stability of the sim 3: Addressing object errors Overall eye candy issues, I would guess, would be a back of the mind issue according to ED. If you want to add bigger explosions you can just edit whatever mission you are flying and just add in triggered explosions. From there you can adjust the size.
  11. Have you tried setting under the advance tab for that particular waypoint, which would be your take off waypoint, set options>Formation>echelon left/right or wedge? Don't line up on the center line but rather on the left or right, respectively. I've never tried this but am curious if anybody ever has.
  12. Thanks Grimes and Speed for the advice. I assigned the flag to the waypoint as per Speeds instructions and it worked like a charm. Thanks again.
  13. I tried the flag approach with no luck. I'm pretty sure I followed your scheme: Once > group alive (SEAD) > Flag On (10) Once > Time since Flag (10,8000) and Unit speed less than (40knts) > Group deactivate (SEAD) I was assuming since once the editor checked that group alive at spawn it turned on flag 10, then once the condition that the flag was true for 8000 seconds and the unites speed was reduced to less than 40m/s after they landed they would deactivate. They didn't deactivate. Not sure what I did wrong, but I definetly like this approach if i can get it to work.
  14. Thanks for the reply Grimes. I'm just trying figure out the best way to deactivate AI flights after they've flown their sorties without having to put up different trigger zones around the waypoint.. This is what i ended up doing unless there is a better way, but i just thought i could set a flag on by passing through a waypoint and go from there.
  15. I was wondering if there was a way to set a flag for a waypoint. Im not to familiar with the trigger function for advanced waypoint options, but is there a way to trigger a flag once an AI plane passes over a waypoint without adding a trigger zone in the ME.
  16. This is cool. Question? Don't you have to switch via the TGP to LSS? Or, did you just make the laser on call, then after having set the data link from the JTAC to SPI you just guided on that blind till release of the weapon?
  17. neither... Easy and without question. TM Warthog. I know its expensive but if you are into sims and especially this one it is extremely worth it.
  18. DCS A10 using my current rig, runs really well and i'm very satisfied with it, but that beast of a card would be nice. Of course, its so damn big I'd have to, essentially, rebuild the entire computer around it. If i was running 3+ monitors at max res with all the bells and whistles I'd probably consider this card.
  19. No... heheh.. the CDU, at least to me, is probably the most important and useful piece of hardware in the jet next to the lightning pod.
  20. Also, in case you haven't noticed... you can now hear a clearly audible thump as the weapon ejects from the rail, which is a big help in case you're not accustomed to making that quick check of the DSMS to see if the weapon was released.
  21. Since DCS is partnered with ED it makes sense the theaters revolve around the Black Sea region. However, Afghanistan would be mighty nice. I would say Iraq but Nevada will be released soon and it's not that far of a stretch to make a mission or a campaign with the illusion if it existing in Iraq.
  22. You will not see HUD indications for heading to the tanker. AFter turning on the TACAN, setting the right channel/frequency, you have to make sure you disengage STPT and engage TACAN on the navigation control panel ( bottom center right in front of stick). You will then get prooper reading displayed on the HSI. You will fly HSI indications to the tanker, but I don't think AA T/R will give you range just bearing and headings to the tanker. In short you have to fly the HSI.. there will be no HUD indications for directionality to the tanker. Hope that helped. Don't forget that when you visual and are positioned behind the tanker to contact the tanker.
  23. Awesome MT. Very nice. +1
