  1. no autolocok afaik. You don't have to slew, TMS up with MAV as SOI will trying to lock. If you have to deal with long range sams, then you're in a place you're not supposed to be ;)
  2. I think that everybody who practices A2A refueling did shot down his tanker :D I certainly did :D

    Escape way

ED should also add a local pub, so I have something to do, after I'm done with flying. I mean...that parts where you are on the ground, outside your airplane are the most important things for a flight sim.
  4. This thing should be the least of your worries. BIS games are very mod friendly and I'm sure that some mods will remedy any models issue fast. It was the same with OFP, Arma, Arma2. :)

    ArmA III

    Arma III preview from gamescon:
  6. No. I actually enjoy Ka50 and A10C a lot more then FC 2.0, and sacrificing one-of a kind series, because some people prefer survey sims would be a sad thing for me. I've never done, and propably never will do a auto-startup... I don't believe an aicraft, the is not set-up by me.
  7. Just for the record, the campaigns that came with DCS A-10C weren't much realistic either ;) The Ka-50 deployment campaign was much better.

    FSX help

+ turn off the bloom effect, although nice, it is eating much more fps, even on modern systems, then it should.
  9. Thanks for the tip. Will check it out. I've just made my first IFR landing without AP. Something I've strugled a lot with the stock planes, because they handled like paper planes, unable to stay stable, and that was very frustrating. Not with this one, I could finally feel the weight, flying this thing is a joy. All was super smooth...well, until the point I hit TO/GA instead of AT disarm switch :D
  10. After my two day experience, with two short flight. I must say - it's a real pitty that the procedures and departures in FSX are so simple. So, if you want to put the NGX throug paces on some difficul approaches/departures, and let the AP shine, you have to ignore the inbuild ATC and othet Traffic. The plane itself is a joy to fly...it cannot be compared with the paper-stock-planes. Every bid of it marvelous, flight model, graphics, system modelling, sounds...
  11. Bought, installed, had to tweak FSX to gain some FPS. But the plane is looking marvelous, both in external and internal view. Love the addition of external equipment, like chocks, ground power... Also love the configuring via the FMC. Cannot say much about systems and handling, because the first thing I've done was the selection 'cold&dark' preset. To learn how to start-up this beauty. Took some screenshots, 737NGX at LZIB https://picasaweb.google.com/100132621630803890002/PMDG737NGX
  12. kinda how I feel :D
  13. Never heard of the AoA trainings before, so downloaded the free basics package to take a sneak peek, and I'm impressed with what I'm seeing so far. High quality and polished product. So I'll most likely get the 737NGX trainig set once it is out. :)
  14. I'm unable to check track here, but I is your collective lowered? edit: never mind... I need reading lessons :)
  15. Veeery nice photos.
  16. Looks like the program for rest of summer is set :)
  17. Well, that's the great thing about tesselation. It has smooth transitions (unlike lods). You can scale it much better then lods with minimal cost on memory (every lod is a different model, that has to be kept in memory) and performance. You can also add extra lvl of detail to buildings and other objects.
  18. It does not. This sim got a very narrow oriented physical engine, that focuses solely on things that matter for the simulation. It is deep, but that is not robust. Last time I checked, the physical engine for ground troops was virtually non-existing. Check how tanks and other ground vehicels behave on ground slopes changes. All units are glued to the ground. It doesn't even have proper structure to support skeleton and joints in models. I don't believe that additing a simple switch that does nothing, execept showing something on the hud can be compared with building the ground physical engine for ground troops up from the ground.
  19. No. In every on-line community I've been so far, noob and newb were not the same thing. Even though people tend to mistake them for beeing the same term. Newb is derived from newbie, which is a new inexperienced player. These people should be taken care off, because their mistakes came from beeing new to the game/sim. Everybode was a newb once. Newb is rookie, newb is amateur, and should not be insulted for his mistakes Noob on the other hand is a term used to incapable, bad mannered, people who show no will to learn from their mistakes. Usually ruin everones else experience, and their instant reaction to every criticism is a flood of insults. Term 'what a noob' is never ment as 'what a new, inexperienced player', but allways as 'what an idiot'. Noob is not a newb, noob is not a rookie, noob is not a new boy...Noob is by, most on-line communities, definition an idiot. Calling a new player noob is insulting him. Calling him a newb is not. This difference is what the commic tried to demostrate. If you tell someone 'dude, you're taking off from the wrong side of the runway' and he responds 'ou, sorry. How do I know which side is the correct one', then he is a newb and should be given a contructive answer. but if he respond 'stfu!!!!!!', then he's a noob and should be kicked. ps. Was the -rep really necessary? :)
  20. That's fair price. This might drag me back to FSX, as this is the kind of plane I like fly there the most.
  21. Wow, that's pretty sad. It has potential, the look&feel is much better than in Facebook. Circles are great, integration with picassa is a huge+. But the chat is virtually not-working, and messaging a single person is far from simple. API right now is locked, so no applications available.
  22. Or me. But to be honest, it's a barren wasteland right now :D
  23. You need a stick + some ability control your throttle and rudder => atlest a twisting stick for rudder and some kind of throttle on the stick. I started my DCS flight sim carrier by using a simple Logitech Freedom - http://www.logitech.com/en-za/gaming/joysticks/devices/286 And it was flyable np. And that was for Black Shark that is much harder to keep airborne then a stable fixed wing plane. You'll just have to use the keyboard alot. If you'll get hooked then be sure then you'll spent money for the 'fancy stuff'. Not because you need to, but because you want to get maximum from the sim. But these things aren't mandatory, they just make flying more convient and immersive. Products like these quickly move from 'another game' to hobby and passion.
  24. The only problem with that is, that most system would came to crawl the moment you pressed the trigger. Saving video in high resolution realtime is not something most systems are capable of (because of hdd speed).
  25. Yes. Here is how the campaign system works. The mission creator can use trigged events to award you some points. When you exit the mission, the campaign engine looks at how many points you got, and if you have more then 50, it will advance to the next stage. If you have 50, the campaign will stay at the same stage. If you have less then 50 the campaign will move one stage backwards. One stage can have multiple missions assigned to it, the campaign engine will randomly choose one of them. That way, even if you are forced to replay the same stage, you'll not have to play the same mission (if multiple mission for a single stage are created by the campaign maker). This way a pseudo-dynamic campaign can be created.
