  1. It should work no problem. FC2 doesn't use anything from lockon, it just needs to be present on your system because of legal issues - Ubisoft hold the rights to the lockon brand, so they have to sell FC2 as an addon, even if it is completely standalone application. So I really doubt that their care if you own a US or UK version of the game.
  2. My wild guess would be that you play SP in game mode and MP in simulation (as almost every server you'll find uses simulation mode). Game and Simulation mode do not share key bindings.
  3. This is your previous topic - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=940262#post940262 as stated there Are you really sure you have enough disc space left?
  4. A L-39 Albatros crashed two days ago in Czech Republic during a training flight. Pilots reported fire in engine. Both, an experienced instructor and a young student ejected safely after bringing the plane out of urbanized area.
  5. My personal note.. I would hang some computer builders by the b**** in draught. They build a powerfull machine and use a cheap 300W PSU to throw the price down. A perfect plan to let the computer burn down just after the warranty period. This. A million times. A single overvoltage can fry half your components in a second. An instable voltage will stress your components much harder, lowering their lifespan. Also a quality higher power PSU will have lower current usage than a low-level, because PSU are anything but efficient when they are running near, or over, their limits. They will also be cooler.
  6. I'm using the same stick and imho it's a great stick for it's costs. If it is in good condition and you don't get spikes because of faulty potententiometers, then go for it. Using twist for rudder is a bit twitchy, but you'll get used to it. This is a very good advice and I would stick to it. A head tracking device will give you much more than moving from joystick to hotas. :)
  7. The last time this happened... what's this? dr.watson postmortem debugger is internal part of windows.
  8. Use tre producers notes instead of training tracks, they are of much higher quality.
  9. Normal. Menu and simulation engine are two different executables. So when you star a mission the menu program ends, and simulation program starts.
  10. I found the developers notes, present on the linked youtube channel, or downloadable from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=133&scr=products&lang=en much more better than the training tracks. And I learned all the basics from watching those tracks and then trying the same thing myself. But in the end, you cannot evade reading the manual in a sim like this ;)
  11. I'm using a joystick 10buttons + hat and flying this beast without any problems control-wise. You don't need that much buttons during flying.
  12. Oh yes you can. You can load steam in offline mode and then it's the developers choice wheter to allow playing in offline mode. I've played even CS in offline mode. So if you cannot play your game in offline mode, then blame the developer not the distribution platform. Not all games are 100% integraded. I can installl beta-patches, addons, whatever is in Arma2 without problems. The same is true for Dow2, CoH, Empire:TW, and many other I have. I have installed mods for nearly all of the games I own on steam, without any problems att all. Heck, I can run Arma2:OA beta patch without steam running... If version get out of sync then it's the developers fault, not distribution platform, because he failed to deliver the required update to Steam. Steam version in terms of data files is the same as a boxed version, so if you get into these problems, then there is no guarantee you wouldn't get in them in a boxed version. Also getting your files to the actuall version after alchemy with tons of beta-patces, tweaks, and stuff like that is much easier in steam then in boxed version. You just select 'check files integrity' and steam will compare yours files hash with legitime files hash, and download those file where hash doesn't match.
  13. It's nice to have most of your games under a single application, where you don't have to worry about where you but those discs (or even if they are still working), or where the hell is your manual with you CD-key. You don't have to worry about patches, you can select localized version as you see fit...etc. For ED it's a chance to bring DCS to much wider audience and use some of the clever marketing methods Steam offers (play whole weekend for free and then decide whether you wanna buy it) edit: Not to mention the reputation of Starforce
  14. Try to assign targets to wingman manually and keep one in 'cover me' during the beginning of fight, he will then attack the one bandit targeting you. Using 'engage bandits' ended in catastrophic disaster for me most of the time. Manually assigning or 'go task and rejoin' have allwayes yielded better ressults. And try to avoid split S if possible, rather try to proper notch the missile, you'll be able to re-engage much faster.
  15. So is the ground physics model in DCS (vehicles glued to the ground). Ground path-finding in DCS is a joke (oh, look, the bridge is down...)... If a HE rocket can lands 5meters next to soldier and he can walk away even without the slightest injury, then it's broken. When soldier is dead or alive, then something is broken. When the ground vehicle is 100% functional or dead, then something is broken. Or isn't it? There are aspects you focus on when you do a sim, there are aspects you have to simplify because of man power/money/performance. And no, you cannot kill M1 with a pistol. You can kill M1 with 2A42, but you need ridicolous amount of amunition, and guess what, you can kill M1 with 2A42 in DCS too. ;)
  16. No 'game' can simulate all. Infantry operations 'simulation' in DCS is virtualy not existing. Also this thread shows that tank dmg/performance is far from true simulation as well. Does this make DCS a mainstream game? No. Arma on the other hand is different, and it's aim is on infantry man simulation, and comparing it to Battlefield is like comapring DCS with HAWX.
  17. auto-descent (as well as auto hoover) needs the doppler radar to work properly, which in turn requires height I think above 5meters. So auto-hover and auto-descent will diseangage if you are below 5m, which leads to 'a catastrophe of truly epic proportions followed by uncontrolled bursts of profanity seldom uttered from the mouths of mere mortals......' if you are not prepared for it.
  18. Ehm, are you really sure you have enough space left? edit: damn, sniped :D
  19. Also pay good attention to your verctical speed while you are slowing down, because you will loose lift while slowing down and you may enter the vortex ring without even touching the collective.
  20. I partly agree with this, but on the other hand, no-one forces you to write on official forums. And using not-real name is not advisable, because you have no chance of recovering your account if it get stolen. (Blizzard requires a scan of an ID with name same as is the account name holder, before giving it back to the holder) I know pretty much all about it, but I don't see anything malicious on the Blizzard part, yes Activision with it ceo is somewhere on the level of EA (pretty deep). In the end, the aim of every company is to make money, if Blizzard can make exceptional games in the process, and not throw out one mindless sequel after another, as we see is general practice nowadays, then what's the problem? The main problem of Blizzard, allways, was dependance on their next product salebreaking sucess. Can you imagine what would've happened with blizzard if WoW was a failure? And it could be, nobody thought about the idea of bringing mmorpg to the casual gamers field, noone known if it would really work. What if it wouldn't? What if W3, after all those lenghty years of development, with all the changes it undergo in the development process, would be a failure? Blizzard was allways lacking a backup financial partner in the background.
  21.
  22. They have those information for several years... it's not really a secret. I have the same type of information filled on this forums as well. Not to mention lockon-online store... Soo, time for me to start wearing tinfoil hat :D
  23. What's the differnce for the 'online predator' if your, victims, online 'nick' is a real name or a made up nickname (not to mention that most minors use nicks like suss16...)? I hope that additional informations like age, adress, phone are hidden from other users, if not, then it's a big fail for blizzard. On the other side, I don't think online predators are very fond on exposing their real name.
  24. The main idea behind realID is to unite the huge playerbase blizzard games have under a single social network. Mainly to allow players to communicate with their friends no matter which blizzard game they play (WoW, SC2, D3). This I'm a huge fan of, because I'm really looking forward to chatting with my guild budies while I play SC2. Yes, you can use a dedicated messaging program, but alt-tabing out and in game is anything but comfortable. Tbh, I don't see anything bad aboud your name beeing displayed on the forums. Ofc, some people will behave like idiots no matter what. I don't think your name is as unique that a simple google search of your name would reveal everything about you. Tbh, I think you are much easier identified by using a unique forum nick, than by real name. I don't think this is horrible. Blizzard releasing games sequels like activision and ea does would be horrible, but that isn't happening. And merging with activision was one of the best things that could happen to Blizzard, as long as they keep game development management separation.
  25. Yes, it will be much better than gamepad. It is not as steep as falcon 4.0 in terms of avionics.
