Does this look better? Updated 2/17
Greenies replied to D-Scythe's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The screenshots look great, but it's hard to judge the difference from the game's graphics without having original screenshots to compare with. -
ZBoard - a keyboard spesifically adapted to LOMAC?
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
hmm, the link I tried to post didn't work. Hmm... ok, here it is in pure text: http://www.zboard.com/uk/products/products_zboardsystem.php Hope that works better :) -
Hi people, I've just discovered something wonderful! Some of you may have discovered this keyboard on your own, but I have never heard about this one before. The main feature of this keyboard is that you can buy certain keysets that are meant for special games, like FPSs or other action games, and you can fit this keyset into a keyboard base. You have now a tailor made keyboard for your favourite game. To go to the producer's homepage, click http://HERE. Imagine if they would produce a LOMAC keyset. You wouldn't have to remember all those keys anymore. Ctrl-C for open canopy, F for flaps and so on. Do you remember back in the days when the game distributor included keycards into the game package? This keyboard takes it a step further...

Once again, I think patience is the key word... :D

Thanks for the tips and instructions, everyone. Will try them out next time I get the opportunity :)

Norway is a part of the European Monetary Union (if that's what it's called), but I think the product bought has to have been produced in an EU country if I am to get the product shipped to me without paying that damn toll. It's not good enough that the company selling it to me is located in the UK or any other EU country. At least, that's what I believe. By the way, nice to read Danish on a russian web site :D

Landing perfect. Where to park your jet?
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If I recall correctly, I'm sure that DID's F22 Total Air War implemented some sort of Air Traffic Control. I seem to remember that you could start the mission parked outside the hangar (or inside), wait for the 'go' signal from the tower, and then taxi to a specified runway. I remember that I had to stop the aircraft on the last bit of taxi runway, and wait for another signal from the tower. Then I would line up on the runway, get the takeoff clearance, and take to the skies. Of course, I could just ignore all these tower messages, and make a run for the runway at once, or I could press Ctrl-S (or something) and time-skip to the runway. But it was fun to wait for those clearances from the tower. -
I've never used those SAB-100 Flares. How do they work? Do you dive-bomb them, or just release them when you reach your target waypoint? How wide an area do they illuminate? Another thing: I wish I had night-vision goggles in my Su-25 :x

Well, here is one :D Yes, that's the way to go!

I would expect the CIS market to be EDs biggest market, because of the distribution of game CDs to shops. Who knows how many Europeans, Americans, Asians or even Africans will buy it? Most of them won't even know about the add-on if there are no commercials for the product shown in these countries. It would surely help if computer game magazines were to print reviews of Flaming Cliffs when it comes out. If I were an ED employee, I would probably send an email to a lot of magazines and ask if they were interested in writing about it.

LOL, you're not the only lazy pilot on this forum! Anyway, I found a way to enter those hangars. I line up in front of one, open up my canopy, utter a melodramatic Hamlet-style "Sesame-Sesame-open up!", and let a couple of rockets fly. 4 usually does the trick. Expect a special look, and maybe a raised eyebrow from the officer doing the debriefing. 8) -
Damn, I want one of those TrackIRs, but I can't afford both Flaming Cliffs and that expensive equipment. I tried to see what I would have to pay for TrackIR at a local dealer (here in Norway), and found out that the price is 10 times more than what I payed for LOMAC. I payed $34 for LOMAC, so what do you think? :? It would be much cheaper to order it from the American dealer, but I think I would have to pay taxes for importing it. I don't bother checking that out, I can't afford it anyway. I really like the idea that you can zoom in and out inside the cockpit. Really neat.

Hi, After having landed on an airfield, is there a certain hangar or parking area that you are supposed to taxi to, or doesn't it matter where you park your jet? I know you get a mission successful stamp even if you park on the runway, but I once crashed before reaching my airfield, and instead watched my wingmen land, taxi to a certain hangar, and then enter the hangar after the doors opened for him. This is what made me wonder about this.

You lucky bastard, it looks great! :o

Ok, so if we say that there is 7 million computers in Russia, and 1% of these buy the add-on (I think it will be a lower percentage, but let's be dreamers for a little while) at a price of $40. That means 70.000 copies times 40 = 2.800.000 dollars. That's a lot of money. For me at least :D
-
Do we really know how big the Russian market is? I have to admit I have no clue. Russia is quite big with millions of inhabitants, but how many who can afford home computers, I don't really know. Thus, I also don't know anything about how much money this game can possible bring in.

All this talk of bubbles. If the game would allow us to combine multiplayer with a dynamic campaign, then there would be a lot of bubbles "out there." One for each player, as a matter of fact. Sort of like a Bubble Mania.

I heard Stormin mention this some while ago, don't know where, but I think it was posted on the Ubi forum (or was it in the foreword of Nic's printed manual?). I love the idea of an electronic battlefield, as long as every aspect seems realistic to the player. I always wanted to be able to climb out of the cockpit after taxing and parking my aircraft, and walk over to the briefing room. I't obvious, based on what has been said of the engine's shortcomings (that every object in Lomac adds to the decreasing of FPS), that we won't see this dream come true in the near future, but it's exciting to hear that this is what the developers want to achieve. Good luck in that respect :) Someone mentioned an interesting scenario. That after bailing out over enemy territory, you would have to try to get back into a friendly area where you could join your own troops again. Interesting, but for this to be an exciting part of the game, the danger of meeting infantry and tanks etc. would have to exist. Nobody wants to run on the ground for half an hour unless there is some excitement involved, right? I'm just saying, there are a lot of new and unexplored aspects related to such a battlefield. But as I said before, I think this is an interesting way to go.

Great pictures :D The screenshots are from LOMAC, but I wonder how he did it.

Upcoming LoMan 3.4 (Lockon Manager)
Greenies replied to Skypat's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This is the link to the site where you can download Loman, but the new version isn't available yet :D http://loman.checksix-fr.com/ -
You are anxious to get your hands on the add-on, as are we :) We will get the information that you are asking for, but all in due time. Their focus right now is on getting the distribution issue resolved. I'm sure that when that work is done, and we can start registering and downloading, the latest information about the add-on will be posted on the http://www.lockon.ru site. In the meantime, as they say in Star Wars: Stay on target, Man, stay on target...

Upcoming LoMan 3.4 (Lockon Manager)
Greenies replied to Skypat's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Skypat, you should use a signature with a link to your site, where we can download LOMAN. :) -
One reason for the postponing of the release date could be the constant "nagging" from us, the players, about bugs that needed fixing in the 1.02 version. That we are allowed to send in these bug-reports is not a bad thing, but a very, very positive thing about ED. They are receptive of our thoughts and worries, and gives feedback on a frequent basis. Try to look at it as a direct phone line to Santa's office on the North Pole. I want this and that for Christmas/next release. Ok, says Santa/Chisz, we'll try to make it. Looking forward to the release in next week, or the week after that, or the week after that, or the week after... :D

It always makes me happy to hear talk of future projects :D It's a lot better than sitting for months on end asking yourself, "Ok, what now?" And 1.2 being a heli add-on, HEY, I always wanted to fly a helicopter in this wonderful LOMAC world! 8)
