I remember when it was released, because I bought it in early 2000. It was the best heli-sim when it arrived, and the dynamic campaign system really worked well. Of course, it was also a plus that it worked like a charm in multiplayer mode as well. To fly a dynamic campaign with a friend is awesome, and not many flight-sims have that feature. I tried EECH with the mods maybe 6-8 months ago, and I was impressed with the graphics update that the mod team has produced. Unfortunately, I haven't had enough time for gaming this last year, since I am working out of town every week, and am home only during the weekends. RL can be such a pain in the arse sometimes :)

I have never tried playing with a trackIR, but I just have to admit that it looks bloody terrific. In this video it really seems like you're actually sitting in the cockpit looking around. Brilliant! Too bad the trackIR is so darn expensive.

I never fly my chopper without my high heels on!! :D

New movie: The Battle Sim - Naval Movie
Greenies replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Wow! That is an amazing video. I really liked the atmosphere in it. The music, camera positioning, and the shaking of the camera when explosions occur. Now, if only the campaigns in Lockon could feature movies like this one. That would add a new dimension to the immersion factor for this game. Having a good story, with nice-looking videos that makes your heart pump just a little bit faster, that would make the game much more appealing to everyone, I think. Keep up the good work! :megalol: -
Tacview - ACMI Software for Flaming Cliffs
Greenies replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Great work! I remember that DiD's sim, Total Air War (TAW), came with an ACMI tool. Haven't seen it in a sim since then. -
Take a deep breath.... It's just a game!
Greenies replied to Wild.Bill.Kelso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
He he :) What game is he playing, anyway? Strip poker?? Can't get that bra off? He's hardly touching his keyboard, except when he is smashing it against his desk. It's not very strange that he's loosing the game :) -
German Phantom crews having some fun

Hmm, I wonder what kind of sun lotion the guys on the hill were using... I'm sure they like their hamburgers well done. -
With a card like that, do you really need 3-5 FPS more? :D
-
I really hope that SwingKid and dodger42 get something up and running. This is a great initiative, and I'm sure that ED appreciates what you guys are doing for the game and the community. :) It would also be great if ED made things easier for you two by adapting LOMAC to your needs, but I guess they have enough on their hands right now, working on Black Shark and everything. We can always hope, though :D

The article also says that Windows Vista will not allow a driver like StarForce to be installed on the system. That means a lot of these games will not work. I'm just hoping that when I install Vista (many years from now, I think), ED will be ready with their next SIM, hopefully without the StarForce protection, as it is today. I have had no problems with my current version of StarForce. No reboots, and no problems burning copies of CDs, DVDs etc.

anybody else have one of these?

I wouldn't want to be taking a sip of my glass of soda when that missile hits :D -
New Black Shark screen shots - 17 March 06
Greenies replied to Wags's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
These vehicle pictures are great. I really want to ... blow them up! :D But, I am afraid of how the much improved level of detail on these vehicles will affect my FPS. When you are flying the Ka-50 you will perhaps not need that many FPS, since the speed you are flying at is much less than, say, when you're flying the Su-27 or F-15C, but still, I'm curious as to how the flying experience will be for me. I still can't fly with all graphic settings set to max the way the sim is today, so... Well, a decreased FPS count won't keep me from buying BS. I will just turn the graphics even lower, and wish for a new computer and graphics card :) Looking forward to ED releasing info about how BS 1.2 will affect FPS. -
Pilot Log Book - how to fly when you're dead
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I installed and played my old Amiga games on the amiga emulator WinUAE. I still have my old Amiga 500, and I take it out now and again. And yes, I still have a diskette with F/A-18 Interceptor. God, I loved that game at the end of the eighties and the first years of the nineties. It's crasy to think back and compare those games with the ones we play now. Did someone mention fps? Was that invented back in those days? :D -
Mission editor features request
Greenies replied to Witchking's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
With regards to the placing of structures and such in the editor, I would think a simple solution could be to have a little arrow, which will point in a certain direction. This arrow will be displayed together with the structure both when you preview the structure, and when you are placing the "box" on the map. We doesn't need to see the structure if we can see the arrow. Just my 2 cents. -
Pilot Log Book - how to fly when you're dead
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Wow, if it only were that easy in RL :) Open Greenies.xml. Change the item "Greenies_run_over_by_a_bus" from "0" to "1". Easy-peasy! I will try updating the Pilots.xml when I get home from work. -
Sorry about the morbid theme of this thread, but I felt it was time to rattle the bones of that skeleton in the closet :) The pilot that I have created has the status of "Dead" (could have posted references to Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" sketch, but I resist the temptation :) ), probably because I crashed while flying one of the training missions, or one of the single player missions that come with the game. While flying the Su-25 campaign I still used my "dead" pilot (probably scared my wingman to death). Since I managed to complete the campaign and being dead at the same time (the force is strong with this one...), I am wondering about the importance of my status in this game. The worst thing is that my statistics don't seem to be updated, and that is probably because of me being dead. I finished the beforementioned campaign, and destroyed lots of tanks, buildings and the like, but the statistics doesn't show this. I have been told not to put too much faith into statistics, but I think this is different :) Is there any way of returning my status to "Alive", or do I have to create a new pilot each time I decide to try to catch a SAM missile with open arms (Hi Sam, want to be my new friend?)?

NAV modes - why are there more than 1?
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Good point, VapoR. It would be easier if we could see which mode was selected somewhere in the cockpit. But if the pilots use a keyboard, which one do they use? Do they also have problems using the left and right windows keys? :D :D -
NAV modes - why are there more than 1?
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks for the reply. If I get to the "Enroute" nav mode when going from A2G to NAV mode, then I should be able to choose my next waypoint. I have to press the NAV mode select button twice to be able to do this, and that should really bring me to the "Return" sub mode, if I do as you, and the manual, say. Well, anyway, it doesn't matter much, since I am able to navigate the aircraft with either one or two clicks on the nav mode button :) -
I've started on one of the Su-25 campaigns, and I was having trouble setting up the navigation system to guide me home after I had reached my target area, and completed the mission objectives. I thought perhaps that I had set up the wrong key on my x52, but back in the menu I saw that I had indeed set up the right key for selecting the next waypoint. This isn't the biggest problem in the world when there is still daylight, but during night-time missions, it is essential that the NAV system is able to guide me towards my home base. Then I noticed that it wasn't enough to press 1 (NAV mode) once when going from 7 (A2G mode) to 1 (NAV mode). I had to press it twice. Then I could select the next waypoint, and everything was back to normal. My question is: why are there several nav modes, how many are there, and what are each good for? If you consider this to be a n00b question, please feel free to tell me :D

BLACKSEA OPERATIONS CANCELLED!!! - until further notice
Greenies replied to VVanks's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Erm... dynamic campaign? Could you please elaborate on that? -
Will you crash if you hit them in mid-air, or will you just fly straight through them? Can you fly under them? :D What a great mod! :icon_supe

BLACKSEA OPERATIONS CANCELLED!!! - until further notice
Greenies replied to VVanks's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It's all ED's fault! They should stop making these patches! :D Seriously, I hope things work out, and that we will see this mod released sometime in the not too distant future. I checked out your homepage not that many days ago, and I can see the tremendous amount of work that you have already put into this project. I hope you will be able to see the fruits of all your work. It really looks to be an interesting gaming experience. -
missing payload info in Su-25 mission
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Whoa! It must have taken some hours to create that encyclopedia! Nice work :) Yes, we all learn as we go. My problem is that I often take long breaks between each time I fly, and then I forget what I learned during my previous flight. However, I have played Flaming Cliffs a lot during the last weeks (1 hour here, 2 hours there, and so on), and now I'm starting to feel more laid back in the cockpit (unless there's a SAM nearby, of course :D ) -
missing payload info in Su-25 mission
Greenies replied to Greenies's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hmm... I feel a bit silly now. Thanks for the advice. Didn't think about the payload editor at all. If I were a flight school instructor, would you sign up for my course? :D
