  1. I also learned some of Portugal's Sabres saw real combat in Africa. Ground attack and close air support.
  2. Awaiting approval Uploaded and awaiting approval... Some more pics: 5316, Esq. 51 5357, Esq. 52 I think I've finally got the spec files where I want them for natural metal effect, pics don't really show it, you have to see the aircraft moving to really catch the reflectivity/shine. :) Made some small changes to the cockpit, FAP Sabre cockpits were actually very close to the default DCS Sabre, probably because they were the same model/block. Throttles and flap lever handles were grey, changed some push button colours, that's about it. Awaiting approval
  3. Should be finished with these after the weekend... Forum member WARJUNIOR requested some FAP Sabre skins and it turned out to be a fun project! Thanks to WARJUNIOR for his help with the Portuguese stencils and personal photos :) North American F-86F-35NA serial 53-1164, FAP serial 5357, of Esquadra 52 "Galos" (Roosters), based at BA5 (Base Aérea Nº 5), Monte Real, Portugal. Aircraft finished in natural metal with red trim denoting Esq. 52. North American F-86F-35NA serial 52-5242, FAP serial 5316, of Esquadra 51 "Falcões" (Falcons), based at BA5 (Base Aérea Nº 5), Monte Real, Portugal. Esq. 51 flew the Sabre well into the 1980s, the aircraft were initially finished in natural metal before being painted in light grey, with only the tail pipe and gun blast panes remaining in natural metal. '316 shows later marking scheme , which included NATO servicing symbols. Both liveries will include authentic pilot figures with appropriate patches. Coming soon...
  4. Cripple, watch for an ebay seller called "amys-tree63", updates once a week or so, various Air Ministry switches and controls. Bought a bunch a while back for my 'pit.
  5. Well, I never edited the original reflection texture, it's stock. I included both edited and original textures in the folders so it would be easier to switch back and forth from one cockpit style to the other by copy/pasting the entire contents vs. only certain texture files. I only changed textures 1 through 5, and 8 (removed dive angle lines on canopy - Canadair Sabres didn't have any, strictly day interceptor role). IMO the red night lighting needs to be toned down, those flood lamps have a brightness rheostat in RL, in the game it seems to be on or off, full bright or nothing.
  6. *NEW* Sabre 23314 of the STU, RCAF The Sabre was stood down as a front line fighter between 1962 and 1963 in NATO Europe, and replaced by the CF-104 Starfighter. Back at home in Canada, No.1 (Fighter) OTU was closed, but the Sabres soldiered on, now as lead-in fighter trainers for pilots who would go on to learn to fly the CF-104. The Sabres remained at RCAF Station Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, now attached to the new "Sabre Transition Unit" (STU). Sabre 23314 as it appeared circa 1963. This aircraft now flies as "Hawk One", painted in Golden Hawks colours and based in Gatineau, Quebec, with the Vintage Wings museum. Around the end of 1958 the RCAF updated the aircraft markings standard, removing the under wing nationality markings and adding "buzz numbers" of "RCAF" on the starboard wing, and the last three digits of the aircraft serial on the port side. Like the roundels on the upper surface of the wings, the new underside markings were canted so as to align with the mean sweep angle of the wing. Includes RCAF pilot texture with STU patches. NOTE: this livery works best when used with my "RCAF Grey" replacement cockpit textures, found here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1430082/ Available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1432827/
  7. Updated the Hawks livery (again) to correct a couple of small problems. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/793979/
  8. Sabre 23362, No. 1 (Fighter) OTU updated and available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/893781/
  9. Just did a test flight and everything works, ADF/Radio Compass, Mag. Compass, Gyro Compass all normal, not sure what to tell you 4535jacks... did you use a mod installer to add the textures? These are just texture files, they shouldn't change anything with the flight instruments, they're only skins. BTW, are you still having an issue with the side panel night lighting? Should look like this:
  10. Thanks for the kind words, fellas. Golden Hawks 1960 skin updated and available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/793979/ Canadair Sabre Mk.5 23213 of No.1 (Fighter) Operational Training Unit, based at RCAF Station Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, circa 1957. Updated and available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/893786/

UPDATE Previously released skins for No. 3, 66, 92 Squadrons RAF now updated to latest standard. Available for DL now.
  16. Golden Hawks Update Coming soon, LONG overdue... Original skin was the 1959 paint scheme, I decided to update it to the 1960 scheme, which included the pilot and crew names. 23066 was flown by the team Lead, Squadron Leader Fern Villeneuve, who, 26 years later, was Commandant of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet regional gliding school where I got my wings ;)
  17. Ok, awaiting approval, this file will contain both black cockpit textures as well as RCAF grey ones. The README will explain how to install them so you can have all the details for either a black or grey Canadair Sabre cockpit. The F-86F module maps certain cockpit details from the default textures, so we are limited to how much we can change by selecting a livery. If you want all the details you have to replace the DEFAULT textures for the cockpit with these new ones. I have written instructions in the README file which will allow the user to switch from Black to RCAF Grey to Default simply by copying and pasting the files into the default F-86F cockpit texture folder. I apologize for not being a programmer, so I can't write an installer :(. Also, I spend more time texturing than flying so I haven't tested these with ModMan or JSGME.

    RAF Sabres

Uploaded: Canadair Sabre F.4 XB867, 234 Sqn. RAF Awaiting approval. Slight update to version posted above, 234 squadron documentation states that the aircraft code letters were red with a thin black outline. However, any period photos show the letters as basic white, regardless of time of day, angle of lighting, etc. so white it is... :)
  21. HAHAHAHA
  22. Yep, looks like an alpha issue. I'm out of town until the 9th so I'll take a look when I get home. Do ALL skins do it?
  23. Gary, can you post a screen shot? I may have to check the alpha layers. These textures take a fair bit of time and I'm only one guy when it comes ro beta testing ;)
