+1, there's plenty of room for that compass down to the right of the glareshield. :) Pretty please, BST?
-
Hear, hear!
-
Yeah, there's not much I can do about the rather anemic J-47 but various panel lines can be changed to give the impression of a CL13A/B. We can dream, can't we? :) Just can't do anything about existing J-47 vent ports in the fuselage, and I'll have to draw the side vents and sugar scoops. The first 220 or so Mk.6s had the hard edged 6-3 wing. When production changed to the slatted version most were retrofitted, although a few went to the Luftwaffe as training airframes, still with the hard edge.

Should be easy enough to change the attitude marks texture to plain black. ...Oh, and if we're talking about back-asswards instruments don't get me started on the heading indicator :-0
-
Yeah, where's that at... Oh yeah, texture 5 below the back baconator... ;)
-
Just playing around right now and seeing how things work and where different textures are. I'm not going to get too carried away as this is still a beta. Last time I rushed into things was DCS: P-51D and they ended up changing the mapping around the nose and my skins had to be redone. Also, with Edge and 2.0 coming I'm not sure I want to get into specular files etc until I see what we have to work with in the new engine. BTW, I'm not interested in the major liveries... just all the minor ones ;)

Once the paint kit is available I plan on doing some skins, the F-86F-35 is close to both the Canadair Mk.2/4 {F-86E (M)}, as delivered to the RAF, Turks and Greeks; and, with some minor panel line changes, the Canadair Mk.5 and early Mk.6. Have started playing with the cockpit textures as well: Black instrument panel, Canadair-style Ejection placard, added white stripes to VMO needle on ASI. Grey throttle grip and Flap lever handle, black Emerg Speed Brake knob, Bombing Caution placard. My old man flew Sabres, he has both a stick grip and throttle grip in his den. Sending him the video links to DCS:F-86F now :)
-
BTW, I think IRL the flaps were marked like the P-51.
-
Sheesh, where'd you find the texture,?! EDIT: Obviously in the same tree as the zip file. Didn't think of looking in MODS folder, thanks :)
-
Yes, quite useful for bombing but an irritant when dogfighting ;)
-
It can probably be modded, I just can't find any virtual cockpit textures to play with, just the external model ones. Funny, the external model canopy shows the antennas for the ADF but you don't see them in the virtual cockpit. Agree, I've never seen any pics of Sabres that had the dive lines, was this something native to the 35 series?
-
Would it be possible to have the option of having NO dive angle lines on the canopy? They are really distracting during ACM. Thanks!

You're right... But I'll wait until I've tried this at home before calling it :) -

Yup. Both North American products. Think of it as a supersonic Mustang. About the simplest jet you can get. Fun factor high. -
Getting back into skinning the Mustang, I did some RCAF skins way back when everything was still beta and subject to change...and they changed some stuff ;) Now going back and redoing my template to match the new panel lines and mapping around the spinner. Here's a WIP, Mustang 9224 of No. 420 Sqn RCAF, Crumlin Field, London, Ontario, Canada, 1952-ish. Still tweaking the Spec files as while the aluminum looks good I'm still not 100% happy with the painted bits also looking metallic instead of glossy. Also doing the pilot skins - RCAF 50s-era flight coveralls and associated patches and helmet art.

Hmm... Been away from DCS for a while and away from skinning too. Never finished my Milviz/FSX Sabre template but this might get me back into skinning the RCAF stuff.

Interest check: Landing Gear Panel, Flap Gauge

Interested in Package 1. -
Thanks for replies, it seems to be behaving now. Maybe I can duplicate it on that one mission I created... Hamblue, did you use to play AH2?
-
What's the advantage of disabling Aero?
-
Fresh install of A-10C 1.2 TM Warthog. Ramp start fast mission. Lift left throttle out of cut off and I get the ENG START CYCLE light but no spool up. Right engine starts fine. Anybody else getting this? BTW, RALT + HOME won't start it either. Get the light on warning panel but engine won't spin. *UPDATE* - Flew a fast mission spawning on runway, was able to shut down and start Left engine multiple times... weird.
-
I like it but I'll wait for reviews before considering a purchase. I have a TM WH with an extended stick, not sure it could be mounted properly to take advantage of the longer stick throw, especially since it's essentially a car seat with no cut out in front.

How the heck do you do this (Corkscrew Roll)???
jocko417 replied to Shaderhacker's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Who said anything about rudder, he said aileron and elevator. In the video you posted the aircraft is NOT maintaining a heading, it's nose is tracing a circular path, not staying on one point. -
Wasn't satisfied with the metal effect I was getting on my skins so I've been experimenting with new spec files trying to get a good "operational" looking bare aluminum, vs. "polished airshow" aluminum. I think I'm getting there, have just uploaded an updated version of my 442 RCAF Vancouver skin, please try it out and let me know what you think when it's available :) Screens don't really capture the full effect, looks better in game. Still trying to tone down the reflectivity a tad. New version here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/181213/

This skin represents a North American P-51D-30-NA, RCAF serial number 9267, coded BU-Q, of No. 442 "City of Vancouver" Squadron, RCAF Station Sea Island, Vancouver, Canada, circa the early 1950s. Aircraft finished in bare metal with matte black anti-glare panel on upper nose. Standard RCAF nationality markings. Available here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/181213/
