  1. The actual mounts for the door guns would be limited by the gimbals. These gimbals would prevent you from firing in an undesirable direction, like inadvertently shooting the skids, the rocket pods, into the rotor blades...last thing anyone wants is a runaway gun with a dead gunner, and a pedestal that allows the gun to fire into the cabin.
  2. Its a bug in the mission/skin file. Not sure what the deal was, just that civilian birds were flying with the IR suppression exhaust, while the military birds were using the civilian pipes. Oh, and that black gunner has been black since 127 arrived. So long as he isnt using the iron sites on the right side of the gun, we be ok.
  3. Im always having to hold the middle mouse button down to readjust my view. Granted, using the mouse isnt so bad for me with trackir enabled, but its even more prominent using the flex sight, as Im always needing to use the middle mouse button to readjust my FOV. Thats nice.
  4. No, more or less when you right click it will bring up some crosshairs that after left clicking will identify enemy contacts. Crosshairs where the barrel is pointing, thats all. Its easier than hell to shoot the miniguns and be fairly accurate-with or without crosshairs (you cant miss unless you dont have tracers). Try doing that in an M-60 or an M240. You can walk the tracers in an M134 at 3000rpm where every 10th round is a tracer. M-60s shoot at 900 rpm, and IIRC every 3 rounds is a tracer. Good for soft targets like jeeps and aircraft, not so good for infantry. And Ive been using the guns since day 1. I "do" know how to shoot.
  5. Yeah, I can understand if you are aiming out of a porthole and dont have a great line of sight down the barrel, but the Huey door gunners have a great field of view. How are you going to get a clear shot with an aimpoint like this? Just asking for something to make aiming these guns a little easier, like making the focal point the BZO instead of a 6dof cockpit view, or crosshairs centered on the BZO.
  6. Since when do door gunners just aim 30 degrees off of where they are looking? Im willing to bet that gunners always keep their heads aligned with the barrel at the very least. Peripheral vision is nonexistent in DCS. I was once upon a time a 240 gunner, I know how it works.
  7. Shouldnt have to pray and spray, should be able to maintain a proper sight alignment like you should. This isnt really up for debate, this is necessary to be able to properly aim! Crosshairs would be nice.
  8. Door gunners more or less have a visual perspective and can more or less know where their barrel is pointing at any given time. Not only that, but most of the times their heads will be in line with the barrel. This isnt feasible under the current aiming system. Peripheral vision is basically nonexistent in DCS; did I mention I use 3 monitors?
  9. Is there a better way to fire from the gunners positions? I ask this because it seems very difficult at best to keep proper sight alignment when aiming down the sights. Same goes for the copilot reflex sight. Instead of using a 6dof style of manual aiming, is there a way to keep the eyesight lined straight down the sights instead of wandering all over the place? Or a minute suggestion: placing a graphic marker to where the iron sights are aimed at for a visual reference when in these seats, such as crosshairs or an X, ranged with a known BZO.
  10. Will redo the voice over soon.
  11. Actually they do have them now. They arent combat certified with them as of yet, but they are in flight testing at the moment.
  12. I remember that phrase. When that book was written, the baddest dog on the block was the F-15, there was nothing around that could hold its own against one, including an F-16. So, trying to BFM an F-15 with an F-16 is essentially a stupid idea.
  13. I really would dig a Viper...there arent many in service though, and thats the problem. Most of them if not all are going to be updated Whiskeys, providing the Marine Corps gets around to doing the upgrades.
  14. Have to look up the key commands, but yeah...
  15. I honestly dont see the benefit of having a more expensive board. All its supposed to do is complete a circuit. If it had more peripherals, lower resistance and electrical paths, and a higher bus speed, then maybe...but why go balls to walls when they all do the same thing anyways? You dont really get that much of a performance increase...
  16. Spad VIII is my vote.
  17. Well, I had to reinstall a few things, but I got the bugs worked out. Heres my take on FSX + REX Essentials. I have a few additional addons some of you may not, so just ask away.
  18. Its in the bug reporting forums.
  19. Or you need to reassign the controller axis in the game menu.
  20. This one has been discussed before.
  21. I think that turning the prop by hand is to get oil to circulate throughout the system. I could be wrong though, they always do this to rotary engines, since it helps prevent hydraulic lock.
  22. You cant beat EVGAs warranty. You can literally tear them apart and return them so long as the board didnt get wet from any water based cooling system.
  23. Make sure your psu is modular. I didnt and that was a big mistake. Im pretty certain that you picked the exact same psu I did....and its a wiring nightmare.
