Got bored and turned to the dark side.

Don't deride him, he is making a good point. So your Su-25T gets shot to pieces on a mission forcing you to struggle to get it home and land safely... Phew - done that, that was good - oh crap - mission failed, i'll have repeat the whole thing again anyway, why'd I even bother. -
Bloody awful game, I want my money back.

Look at the curves on that... those Fulcrum's are beutiful... -
It does smell like poor project management. You take the original release, utterly filled with bugs. I think what you have is a bunch of clever and enthuastic people who like to develop either their passion or their pet project, with no adopted structure or management. Though as a consumer i'd much rather see delays than buggy software, with most sims you get both, and I think the above is attributable to that.

And of course an EULA from whatever source is only applicable if the country you live in has suitable legislation to enforce it.

Anyone tried LockOn on MAC OSX (Boot Camp)?
yamangman replied to Echo0311's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Why would you want to run anything on a Fisher Price "My First PC"? -
Developers will only make DX10 games if there is a large uptake of Vista. If you don't, hell, Microsoft may even release a DX10 component for XP. They have to swindle people over somehow, and swindle you out of an exhorbitant amount of money at the same time.
-
Argh! All this talk about Vista! It's just another OS! Another step in the Windows product lifecycle! Dont't be sucked in! It may look flashy, but you don't need it. Your PC isn't going to drop dead if you don't upgrade. Have you seen the pricetag for the ultimate version? It's rediculous! Tell microsoft where to stuff it for a change instead of handing over cash like mindless zombies and forcing everyone else into the same cycle whilst you do so. Give Microsoft somthing to think about, don't let them dictate to consumers such extreme license deficiencies, extreme system requirements, and extreme IP and DRM tools.
-
That kind of statement really bugs me, you don't have to do anything.
-
Sure that much has changed, but you still can't run the full retail copy dual booted on the same machine, you need two licenses, OEM copies are still non-transferable (as with XP) and you cannot run a retail or OEM copy in a virtual machine, even on a virtual machine running on the copy of vista you wish to virtualise!

Is it possible to play Lock On on a gamepad?
yamangman replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I got bad FPS on my BlueGene/L supercomputer - overclocked of course. -
Anyone played Grand Prix 4? It would be great if lomac had an FPS system like it is implemented in that title. I can't be arsed to explain it.

What is your 3dMark06 score?

Yea, that's why I mentioned the pedantry..... -
What is your 3dMark06 score?
yamangman replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Once loaded, my version of Lock On uses ten threads. To perhaps put it into perspective though thunderbird uses between 6 and 12 threads and firefox between 9 and 16. -

At the risk of being an utter pedant, you're stament which seems to make sense is technically really quite innacurate. I feel obliged to point out that even small, slightly complex programs these days are comprised of multiple threads. LOMAC uses multiple threads. For the most part you would be a fool to write a piece of software not based upon threading. -
Out of the things the TCO standard certifies for displays, it does not cover refresh rates or the the 'technicalities' of the display. Think ergonomics, energy and emissions with TCO.

What's your video card and CPU?
yamangman replied to leafer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Maybe a short while ago, but Intel's Conroe CPU is way, way ahead in terms of sheer processing horsepower. I have to agree with Kuky to some extent. A lot of people claim super high framerates with 'full settings' and 'full AA/AF' on systems with a fraction of the processing power of yours IgunanaKing, which leaves me more than a wee bit sceptical of some claims. My machine is hardly bleeding edge (Athlon X2 4400 Toledo overclocked, XFX 7800GT, 2Gb low latency memory), but still a good performer, with 'full settings' and 6xaa, 16xaf, on a busy mission, or overcast or large cities, or lots of objects i.e. busy airfield, the game is an absolute slideshow. It leaves a somewhat bitter taste considering the titles age and complexity. -

Make sure you get a conroe core, and not allendale. The top end ATi single GPU solution just beats the nVidia top end single GPU solution. I would always choose nVidia however. I hate ATi's practices in things such as drivers, driver interface and games and Unix support. -

If I wanted a new machine right now I would definately get an Intel core 2 'conroe' core CPU. As for LCD's, mine has a 12ms response time and it has zero ghosting. Technically, a 'zero' response time isn't possible.
