StrikeMax replied to wsoul2k's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Hey Flanker :) Would you post a link to Alexandra skins pls. Im out of country , in Egypt right now, just logged in to check whether the download issue of 1.1 has been solved or not. I can tell you that the progress is very good so far, but i won't be able to proceed before the next weekend, when Im back. Thanks n Bye. -
Dmut, Have you tried the services of "Element 5"? they seem to have all payment options, including fund transfer and cash payment. Even Fax orders. Best of all, they are used by Starforce tech, another russian publisher( whome you know very well ;))

I want to change my downloaded Fc1.1 to CD version!!
StrikeMax replied to kiamia's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I wouldn't worry much about that, in 2 years I would be playing - at least- the 1.2 version. Most probably I would need the 1.1 for the rest of 2005 only. Any way, If its technically possible that I buy your Downloaded version and can activate it on my system, I would be happy to transfer the $35 to your bank acct tomorrow morning. This transfer would cost me an additional $10 as fees, totalling to $45. Interested? -
Show some mercy guys. We still cannot figure out how to get FC 1.1, and you are discussing 1.2!!?

Hey Allochtoon, how r u? I've just reformatted my HD and still installing apps and sims. Did not re install LOMAC, waiting for 1.1. Maybe then I will find you again in HL. Thanks for your comment. I am taking this project as a comprehensive max Tutorial. Unlike my previous work on Gmax, where all models were mainly Basic geometry modifications, In this one I'm using different approach for different parts,Including Lofting of CS, spline modelling, Boolean geometry,High poly to low poly projection, and very recently NURBS. Im still learning NURBS, its wonderful but the tesselation parameters are giving me a headache. I still can't get the desired results when converting from NURBS to Editable Mesh. By the way, the canopy in the post above, is a NURB Surface. -
Agood tutorial from you guys or better....
StrikeMax replied to Conuk's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Try this, but its not very "basic". you should be familiar with spline modelling and the "surface" modifier. Go through the max tutorial for the above before attempting this. But hey, its worth it. If you master the art of spline networking, you would be able to model almost anything, including complex organics. http://www.visualart.ro/tutorials/masina/car1_eng.htm Good Luck. PS. try google for other methods of modelling inluding "Patch" modelling where you basically start with a small patch touching the surface of a car side, then with a series of edge extrusions you cover the whole body. Also try "Box" modelling. -
Hey Allochtoon, good to c u here. this forum was offline i guess, and only today i found that its up n running. I used to use gmax for all fs2004 models, its a good basic package, though not as powerful as 3ds Max. During the compilation of a model in gmax to fs2004 .mdl format ( thorough MDLMAN plugin) a .x file is created and saved to the HD. this DX .x file could be imported into 3dsmax. What I want to say is, If you start a project using gmax, and then u upgrade to 3ds max, your work is not lost and still could be completed in 3ds. OT. any Idea whats the difference bet "member" & "Junior member" ?! lol

Thank you Alfa for your quick replay. Must tell you that I was not surprised by the answer, but I just hoped that there is a way around. Guess my best bet is to agree on a "ED Endorsed Mod" where they do the necessary conversion and then the package would be distributed as a free optional mod. Too early anyhow. Thank you for your compliments on the model and Im glad you liked it. Cheers

And suppose you have... Is there a way to convert a 3D model into lomac format?! I'm very much interested to know. SM

Flanker, wow, beautiful model! where did you find that? :D ok my friend, im at work right now, don't have my reference material. If your lines were accurately drawn then the good news is, if they are not horizontal, they are parallel. Thus a minor CCW rotation of the Fin assembly would do the trick. I still have to superimpose it over trace lines though. Thanks alot for your efforts -

Flanker, Here is a closeup of the modelled fin and a pic of the real thing. As you can see, The antennas are not perfectly horizontal. I tried to imitate that for realism. As for the surface below the rudder. It is slightly tapered and round at the end to house the Elevons Joint/Axle. Thanks and the real thing: The image is not showing?!! just click the link below -

Hi Flanker, Please allow me to answer this directly, as I have spent hours and hours studying drawing and pictures of the flanker 1- As this is Work In Progrss, please always refer to the latest image posted, in this case, the image with both front & side views. 2- I will start with your second remark. If you mean the dielectric line on the radome, you are right. It should be tilted in a way that the lower end - viewed from the side- is closer to the center of the AC, so that a line passing through the tip of the nose would intersect it at a 90 degrees angle. Because of the way I modelled the fuselage ( its one single object from the tip of the nose til the tip of the rear cone) this tilting would not be possible without a surface slicing, which i have not started. At this stage I am more concerned with the skeletone or the whole shape. Slicing introduces extra polys, and would come at a later stage. 3- Now to your first remark. Horizontal lines of the rudder?! Do you mean the baseline of the whole Fin assembly where it is attached to the fuselage? if so, please note that this line is not horizontal by all means. It has a negative slope starting approx the rear end of the wing till the end of the fuselage. If you inspect the background drawing in the first image posted in page 14, you can see that clearely. If you are talking about the bottom end of the rudder itself " the moving part" it is horizontal in both the real thing and my model. Hope this will answer your concernes, and thanks for the scrutinity of the model. -

If no Printed manual with the CD,then a VISA download is enough for me. You are targeting the currently EXISTING LOMAC community, aren't you? -
