Does anyone find refueling easier if you pop20-40% speed brakes? I have had more luck this way. Obviously deceleration is more responsive, but I also feel like this reduces the affect of throttle changes on pitch. Thoughts?

Freeze trackir helps quiet a bit cause you get better queues of movement versus a now fixed pit

Freeze trackir I find helps quiet a bit as you get queues of tanker movement vs your own fixed pit.

Ive just finished aar night maple flag. It wasnt pretty, but I passed (despite lightning taking out my cadc after takoff and my wingy setting my right engine on fire 300' before landing). I found that popping around 20% speedbrake was very helpful. Made deceleration more reponsive obviously, but also seemed to reduce the affect of throttle changes on pitch. Anyone have opinions on that?

Perect answer now confirmed. I had never seen that little triangle!

Maple flag aft0....4? Aar night. Landing in very low vis situation. Wingman request divert into Batumi because his ils is broken. Divert ok, and I get horizontal ils guidance but no vertical. What could cause this? One guess is that I was pretty high on the slope. So maybe I was above it by so much it never showed up?

Think of it this way: ply a racing simulator and try to stay in a lane. Then drive to work. In real life you can be many factors more precise.

Check if you have an axis mapped to rudder trim. That would cause roll and then pitch issues. What speeds? I fought control issues a lot until I realized I was often flying below the envelope for the A-10.

Can't land straight once brakes applied on landing

I also found the rudder extremely touchy in the hawg. I played with rudder axis settings a lot to compensate which felt better at first but later while ruddering n the air It caused more similar trouble. In the end I reverted to default settings and just learned to touch them very gently -
This is the ideal procedure IMO if you need absolute precision. Plan B is improved SA and mark II eyeballs. Easy to say, hard to do!

Check you monitor config lua. It looks like you have a custom lua. Usually these are used for multi-monitor configurations. If you just have the one monitor for the game use the one called 1mon. Change these under settings. If you do need advanced multi-monitor it can all be done easily but that is a whole other can of worms.

Recently Updating regards RAMP and EGI alignment
Puma replied to RglsPhoto's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The system needs initial coordinates from somewhere. They are either manually entered or pulled of the datacartridge programed during the briefing and plugged in behind you, so afaik its not unrealistic to skip this step since we always have a data cartridge. -
Not sure what caused the wing dip. A10s require frequent trimming but I wouldnt have said a "lot" in terms of major deflections. A few clicks of the trim should compensate for most trims use cases. Make sure to zero i.e. Takeoff trim prior to takeoff so you are startung center. I came from flying F16s and spend a lot of timing finding out what was "wrong" with my A10 control config. In short it requires much more fine adjustments and compensating for varying configurations than fly by wire birds do. Once I got a feel for it I really enjoy the "raw" feel of the A10.

Ive heard pilots refer to "clicks" of trim which Ive interpretted as using several small presses. Seems like its liekly more consistent to trim three clicks for x degree turn versus hold for 270 ms.

Use the bullseye tool to create the waypoint, then go to the waypoint editor you used in the first few steps and add altitude and dtot.

Hey guys. I've posted a little, read a LOT from these forums. I wish I had done a better job chronicling my pit build, but I was finally able to scratch together some footage. Check it out, if you have any questions or comments, feel free. I can talk about this stuff all day!! xvTEZQJjbio PAmhcizM6bY SWC12lHaF_I vRKdeuiaUcI mhSOFMr8qQo

I know I ask a lot but....Landing question again...
Puma replied to TylerTheHottie's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Tacan arcing is flying a circle around something. Usually an airport. Imaging wanting to land on a runway running east to west (rwy 27). But you are approaching from the south. Tacan arcing says fly straight at he tcn beacon until dme indicates you are 10 miles away. Then turn right until the tcn bearing needle is at your 9 oclock position. Keep it there and you are now flying ccw on the 10 mile arc around the beacon. Once that needle is at 270 degrees, you are prepared to turn to approach at rwy 27. There are some great youtube videos on the subject and a picture is worth a thousand words. -
„Requesting engine startup”– no reply from ATC
Puma replied to Razor18's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I battled the same symptom for a long time. I suspected a volume issue so i started using squelch on each radio to ensure i could hear the radio. I havent had an issue since. I am more strict on my startup procesures also so Im not claiming it fixed anything, but its a good test and occasionally finds a volume turned down or a step I forgot. -

Hehe, I only use tcn... But Im old. Does cdu divert give you course deviation on hsi? -
Ctrl+f1 is world view which i use but has no refernce cueues. ModelViewer sounds interesting. No references in the manual to it though. Can you please explain what you meant by it?
-
Hey folks. So i have enough of a pit to not need the in-game cockpit rendered. I fly 99.9% of the time in world only view with trackir. What that lacks is good orientation refernces. Other than the hud its difficult to tell wings level etc. I would like a vie which is mostly like world only, but show references. Ideally a wireframe plane, but even a simple sphere like the trackir calibration view would do. Further ideal I would like to be able to access this view and the full 3d pit without changing models. I have tried the pit where the internals are removed but it is corny and glitchy. A) are my two ideals possible? B) if so and you can do them, pm me an offer!

DCS 2.0 compatibility questions Does anyone know yet if dcs 2.0 will be backwards compatible with modules like helios, dcsbios, etc? Im just trying to control my excitment because with a custom pit if i need to rebuild most of that it will take me a while to be able to use 2.0 when it drops. Cheers,

I can now confirm that my pedals are fine (after resetting the curves). The biggest issue was definitely attempting to maintain coordinated flight with a single engine. Dont! Just keep tvv in centerline. Second was continuing to fly by trim with one engine. Config changes too fast, so "just fly" and it all got a ton easier. Thanks for everyones opinions!

In case this helps anyone, i found an even cooler solution. I installed autohotkey and used an example script to simulate a keypress when either mic am, fm or uhf are depressed. Ahk sends both the original joy button and the keystroke. I have the key (backspace) mapped as push to talk in dwvac. So, i press and hold any mic direction, and dcs receives the joy down event to shiw the radio menu, while ahk triggers the key to activate dwvac so as long as i hold i can use voice activated radio commands. Exactly like real function and doesnt need the extra button.
