I often turn the map off on purpose once I know the lay of the land so i can focus on the tactical picture.

A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Campaign
Puma replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
Dont be too attached to what he says. Leaving moa is a fail always. Flight plan is priority. Some of the early missions do include criteria that your heading is specific, but thats likely inly the difference between q- and q so dont worry about it too much. Hit your waypoints and stick to the big picture (find the tanker and refuel) and dont sweat if his recordings dont match. Worst case post a track of your attempt. -
A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Campaign

Dunno if it will help anyone. I found recon stewarts videos very helpful but a dcs bug prevented him from completing the campign. So, I recorded my Q- run at TTQ20 and posted it here: -
Are you aware of the “practice” versions of the aat missions? Usually air strts much closer to the key part of the mission. I dont know about the aar mission soecifically but it mighht help. Good luck. Be patient!

Siunds like you are on a great training track, in that you are evolving beyond thinking about systems amd starting to thing strategy. I highly recommend using tacview to record and review your flights. Watching a mission debrief with threat circles often explain why I was getting shot down.
-
Uploading a track would help diagnose. Do you mean the ils steering cue that is vertical itself? I think thats called the horizontal needle. Track is key so we can know the runway.
-
Or for greater realism print nav charts for local airbases or prefill a mission card. Lots of chart pdfs available.
-
Another option is to set only the tgp lss to the jtacfrquency, then keep your own laser and the bomb inv code the same but different from his and then self lase. So use his code to find the target then your own to track the bomb.

The advanced tactical training campaign has a good jtac mission in it. Tac11 is the mission
-
That is perfect. Thank you!!

Hey guys. I'm having trouble during group flights identifying targets. I can find stuff on the TGP, and the radio chatter is vague. "Left of the AAA", "Near the shilka", btr, APC, truck, etc. Certainly I need to review the asset inventory and practice, but in the meantime I'm dreaming of a single page quickreference card with common targets, ideally as viewed through the TGP? Has anyone seen anything like that?
-
I Can confirm I have seen the same thing in a multiplayer server in 2.5
-
I would love to get this working for my pit. Does it need to be converted to EDM format for 2.5??
-
Ignore the spi mark as its a mark in space but the steering cues adjust for wind, velocity, etc. Ideally perfectly aligned, but you can get away with them not being parallel provided that the dot ik the circle of the release cue is on the steering line AND you are at 1G. That means you are on trget but banking, so since bombs fall theyll still be on target. Biggest affect I had to learn for dumb bombs is G force. If you are steering at all or untrimed during release you add movement to the bomb. Use trim and if you arent nearly still during release you are likely to miss.
-
Usually thats if you miss a missiom trigger ie miss a waypoint. Altitude matters maybe your climb angle is too high or low? I forget that mission but qfe/qnh adjustments on the altimeter may be relevant. Try 2992 vs whatever they call out.

Are you withing range? Using the uhf radio? Does uhf squelch work to confirm volumes are correct?
-
Thats actually a reasonable price for a pit build. I was around $5000 for mine but that includes the pc and monitors. There are alot of switches and cost adds up. Hope he/she posts progress here!

Practice is what you need my friend. Lots of constructive advice has been posted. We all found a way. Very little in the A10C is easy but wih practice it all comes together. If you find this frusterating and blame ED I cant wait until you try AAR!

MY opinion based on simialr struggles is that zoom is key. It occludes so you can see the target so if you cant its not “realistic”. I also use trackir but just mapped zoom to my hotas. I fly around zoomed normal but on attack runs zoom so the hud is much bugger.

Youll need to give more detail about what goes wrong to get some help here. Some are posting the unknstalling 1.5 before helps.

Love these missions! 2.5 Update for TTQ13/ATT13. I FINALLY completed this after around 10 attempts. Usually the second group of infantry causing trouble because if you don't shack them all the friendlies often get killed (which results in a "blue on blue" radio call which hurts to hear!). A couple bugs I assume are related to 2.5 I'll report just to help improve them: 1. On the first group of 2 APCs, after my first gun run I "lost" the APC which starts closest to the corner of the fence. I finally found it, IN the fence. Kinda like it tried to drive directly into the compound and crashed through the fence. Not as cool as it sounds as it was kinda just merged/overlapping and 45 degrees upwards. Fortunately I was still able to plink it without hitting friendlies. 2. Before I could even complete readback to Jaguar 1-1's troops in contact call, he called out abort-abort-abort. Figuring all was lost, I proceeded home as instructed but was surprised to pass with a Q. On tacview review, they defended themselves and I was not required. Realistic I suppose but a) confusing b) timing was such I had zero chance to help. I figure I earned it because of the 10 previous attempts and I happy to move on.

2.5 settings and Nvidia Control Panel
Puma replied to JughedJones's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey Guys. I read on another thread that if dcs deferred shading is on (i.e. good trees), then the nvidia settings like fxaa have zero effect. That would explain some of the comments in this thread. I have not confirmed personnally though! -
I purchased through the store and they got installed along with a clean 2.5 install so I assume they are the latest. Very impressed they were already updated for 2.5. Keep up the great work.

JUst found a youtube video about setting cpu core affinity which he claimed helps. Cant wait to try.

Hi guys. Been following all the DCS 2.5 performance improvements and tweaking. Looks great!! I've got my system tuned up with 2.5OB and can't wait to fly tonight. I was amazed how much migrated from 1.5.8 without issue: logbook, control diff.lua files, options, display export mods, DCS-BIOS integration, helios. Easy! So in some ways 2.5 seems totally new, and in others exactly the same. My question is if there have been changes that could affect mission play ability? I know missions are often broken by even minor version updates so with a major I expected chaos, but so far I here little to no talk of missions or campaign issues in 2.5. I ask simply to set my expectations. I plan on resuming TTQ mid-campaign in 2.5 and will enjoy the view no matter what. If I should expect bugs thats ok as its OB. Welcome all comments/opinions!
