  1. agreed. Dcs bios is awesome. Second best is to emulate a USB hid joystick and connect switches as joy buttons and then map either in Helios or directly in dcs.
  2. Yup, that's what I needed. That's a relief, roadblock averted! Your dedication to the cause is admired and appreciated.
  3. Wiring alternatives Promising software. Looks great for LCD outputs which I plan on doing next. I was surprised not to see RotaryEncoder implementations of radio frequencies. Looks like your pit might have had physical digit displays. That's cool, but not an option for me. Could that be implemented? I would be happy to do the coding if you point me in the right direction!
  4. Welcome to the never ending journey. Looking good so far!
  5. 2gb is a concern. It'll be better, but don't expect max details. The 970 gtx is a great card, but likely a new price point. Videocardbenchmarks.net is a good resource for comparison.
  6. check for modified d3d9.dll anywhere in your system. Do they change when dcs is uninstalled? Have you ever tried to use softh?
  7. Great work. Respect!
  8. Tech demo Has ED considered a "view only" tech demo tool for World 2 engine? Suffice to say the long release as lead to great expectations. My concern is that many of us are headed towards disappointment in terms of how well the engine will run on our hardware. There are many threads about people preparing new PCs specifically for DCS, but we are really all left throwing darts in the dark. Similar to how Microsoft releases hardware experience tools prior to a new major OS releases, could a demo be released which would allow no control, and simply run a short 30 second "flight" with an FPS indicator to give us an idea of performance?
  9. I might be interested in a full set. What's today's cost? They look 3d printed. If so, would you consider selling plans or printing to a local shop?
  10. I have the Seiki 39" 4k. I love it. Would 60hz be better, yes of course, but for less than $400 its a great display. Spotting targets at 4k is so much more realistic. Go 4k!
  11. Yup, that's it. Thanks Boltz.
  12. not familiar with those, but have you tried control dcs?
  13. c) is there a console command which would put your own aircraft into wire frame rendering mode?
  14. world only view is great for physical pits, but lacks SA and formation cues. I've tried the pitless mod, which is great except that you cannot ever see the pit. Questions: A) could there be a way, maybe console, to switch between pitless and default models on the fly? B) could there be a way to add simple reference lines to world only view. Maybe every 45 degrees of a sphere similar to track irs calibration view?
  15. Regarding putting a mav through a window, isn't that what force correlate mode is for? I read it was usable for targeting bridge struts specifically. This isn't an answer, but maybe helpful for working with what we have.
  16. likely has something to do with USB driver configuration. Maybe the warthog is plugged I to a different USB port that the software thinks it is? Complete uninstall reinstall?
  17. At the risk of being attacked, I'm going to say no. It is great, but depends what you want to fly. WWII aircraft doing dogfights? Yes, probably track Ir is key. F15 sead or bvr? It becomes much less critical. A-10 depends on the mission and how much you like gauges and the tgp. I've just switched to 4k and am surprised to find trackir off and a wide zoom angle being a frequently used config lately. it's not a huge investment, and if you are serious about simming you will get one sooner or later. If you are afraid dcs is unplayable without one, I say no.
  18. Will dcs world 2 require many (any) changes for external interop modules like Helios, or that screen/mfcd export config tool?
  19. yes! Strongly agree. If random system failures are implemented, random user failures should be too. My physical pit doesn't always sync up right, so I sorta need to do these anyway, but id still love to see it in-game.
  20. seconded that sounds like over heating or under powered. Check windows system event logs for entries around the reboot, good drivers will log either cause.
  21. digikey is awesome cause I'm in Canada and they are sometimes even same day. Mouser is pretty much the us equivalent. For the volume required for a full project I hit eBay for Hong Kong for anything I needed more than 3 of. Takes a little longer, higher defect rate, but still totally worth it.
  22. Nice effect. I tried that approach in my prototype phase, but after a $550 screen printed panel I found it didn't block light. Worst fail of my pit! That looks good though. How thick is that acrylic? Too thick will be hard to work with and many switches and buttons have a maximum thickness material they can be panel mounted into. Also expect the bulk of wire to add up quickly so be aware your backlight may get blocked.
  23. Super pumped up for world 2 alpha. Has there been any discussion about world 2 and interop with addons, especially LUA? With a custom pit, and many keyboard remappings in place, Helios, dcs-bios, guages export, etc, I'm just wondering if world 2 is all-graphics or if I need to book a week off work to rebuild from scratch? I'll do what I have to do!!
  24. x-52 was great for me for years of intense f4af simming. Nothing wrong with it.
  25. Great responses guys. Sorry it took he so long to post back. I've fixed my pedals and it is taking a bit to get used to it. Wouldn't want to be my ground crew cause my first turn is always unexpected!!
