The TGP has not always been standard on the A-10. Early in Afghan war I beleive it was added to enable night attack role. Historians will probably correct my details, but the point is its still a viable attack and especially cas airframe without tgp.

2.2 did for sure. I havent had time to install 2.5 but Im pretty confident itll be fine.

Strafe angle and riccochet in danger close tasking
Puma replied to Puma's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Although Im confused with the wording first posted, Im releived to read this as it does confirm my instinct in terms of what feels safer. Im going with with weapon axis parallel to friendlies 3-9 line. -
Strafe angle and riccochet in danger close tasking
Puma replied to Puma's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I think there is a misinterpretation of that document. If the weapon axis is parellel to the orientations of the friendly troops, then the aircraft is flying overtop of the friendlies and at the enemy they are facing. -
Strafe angle and riccochet in danger close tasking
Puma replied to Puma's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Oh good point. Ive been straffing accros them because i feel more accurate laterally but ricochet should be a higher priority! -
Working on tac13 danger close tasking. On ingress the instructor is describing weapons and techniques for danger close situations. He mentions that LOW dive angle results in fewer riccochets and therefor less danger to nearby troops. Watching tacview riccochet is indeed modelled and can damage troops. I find this counter intuitive. A high dive angle should roccochet less. Cofnirmed this is true with handheld arms. Can anyone think this is correct or is it obviously a typo.

MAny TVs ship in a mode that slightly zooms the signal as per broadcast spec. Play with sizing settings like wide and look for something like pixel perfect or screen fit. Also check your video card settings to ensure you dont have any overscan or underscan configured. Ensure your windows desktop fits perfectly in your tv before trying dcs. Lastly dont forget youve just enlarged your screen massively so a perception of blurry is possibly just cause its much larger.

Hey guys. Just wanted to share a pet project which turned out great (for once!). I have never been happy with my CDU on a full touch screen in my pit. So standing on the shoulders of others (DCS-Bios and pyGAME), I developed a pyGame CDU application which runs on an 8" tablet and acts as my CDU now. Works great! Source is available here: https://github.com/talbotmcinnis/TabletCDU Demo vid is up here: Happy Simming!

Great question Ill need to go shopping I fear. Especially with the upgrade paths having some overlap. Official answer would be great to hear including temp space during the download.

Not faded or blurry at all. When you run 4k at 1080p you effectively get 4 pixela switching together. Never blurry. Perhaps blocky if you compare to 4k but compared to a native 1080p screen of equivalent size you will be happy. I physically attached my mfcds over my monitor. 1920x1080 over a 39” diagonal monitor meant that I had yo resize the dcs mfcds down to around 250x250 pixels to fit in the physical space behind the thrustmaster mfcds. But at 260px the detaila of the mfcds were hard to read. Its called pizel density if you wish to google further. I just moved them to a 1920x1080 15” display and get cover 500 pixels in the same physical space. Its only relevant if you plan on mounting your mfcds to it. My system specs are in my signature. Including link to my pit video for context. Cheers.

Yah I run on a 39” 4k tv at 1080p. Works great. My only issue was when I tried to put the thrustmaster mfds on the monitor. Because its physically large the number of pixels in the mfcds at 1080p was too low. Id love to go 4k but cant get decent frame rates :(

Viewing Mark Point and Way points simultaneously on TAD
Puma replied to LaLa's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thats a great question worthy of a new thread imo. I have to guess its a yes. My buddy flies medvac helicopters and is constantly talking shop. Dcs is deep enough we often compare notes. Still I wonder if there is a usaf endorsed forum or if its all offline? -
A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Campaign
Puma replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
Regarding tac13 target 2, I agree this aspect of the mission is straight up buggy. I checked the distance in tacview and its 65m. The roe states 100m for guns so the correct action would be to radio cantco. Im willing to bet the missing fails since the target survives. Its unrealistic to have a suicidal jtac. However I do sympathize with mission designers as there is only so mich you can do woth scripts. Still loving ttq campaign! -
I should have looked at those panels before posting. Impresive. Individual switches will work well provided you get something you can mount properly. I wouldnt try to get a board to match. Checkout digikey or mouser for a deep selection of buttons.

I built my ufc from scratch with tactile buttons. Fiddly assembly and mediocre quality but it worked fine and is easy to repair or upgrade. A premade pcb would be great for quality but very likely considerably more costly. Likely comes down to if your budget permits or if the money would be. Etter soend elsewhere.

Cockpit size and field of view on 4K TV
Puma replied to Ayindi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Immersion Your goal is a sense of immersion. Dont underestimate the effect of a single monitor plus trackir. I have a scale sim pit with a single 39” monitor just a few inches behind where the hud glass would be. Once in game and track ir running I have no issue with fov or any sense of lost peripheral vision. My vote: Keep it simple! -
I think you are expecting more technology behind this than there is. If you understand how ccip gun tracking works (which is impresive on it own), then a history of impact points is very simply a log of where the ccip pipper was when the trigger was depressed.

So, turns out in the Missions folder, right beside the .MIZ files, there is a DOC folder with most everything I was looking for. No badges like maple flag, but certainly the briefing PDFs. This seems to be a pseudo standard as 2 of the 4 DCS eStore campaigns had such a folder.
-
That sounds very much like the cause, but adding to the complexity is adjusting abrametric pressure adjustments. I believe the process is to use the callout out altitude (QFE) during takeoff, then as you climb above 10,000, switch back to QNE 2992. When I was flying BFT I think this resulted in around 300' adjustment. I honestly am not SURE if the mission requirements use QFE or QNE, so I ended up flying in between the two to be "safe". good luck. The missions are a blast, albeit a little frustrating at times!

I'm about to kickoff A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Campaign, as purchased through DCS eStore. This campaign clearly has origins in the Maple Flag ATT campaign, which is not longer available for purchase. My question is where I can get printable briefings from the new version? The old one had PDFs and other related assets. Now that its installed through module manager I don't know where these are stored, or if they even exist? Any ideas?

I suffered from this too and contacted maple flag about it. I believe it had something to do with shutdown procedures or timing. By the end of aft I had it reliable but unfortunately I cannot determine exactly which steps are critical. Strictly follow a shutdown checklist and good luck! Worst case self asses. The auto rating system is sketchy at best anyway!

I'd checkout dcs-bios. Open source afaik and the best example I know of of highly functional DCS integration.

A-10C Campaign: Operation Jackal
Puma replied to Quirkitized's topic in User Created Missions General
Just confirming mission 1 seems buggy in 1.5. I thought maybe the issue was that its SUPER easy to destroy the bunker with a CBU-97 so in desperation I used gun only to clear the infantry, but same result. Giving up which is too bad because this seemed like a promising campaign. -
I've only done it in pit as above.

Why is HUD pitch indicator skewed to left or right sometimes?
Puma replied to imacken's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Sorry to all on both points: Indeed TVV is the correct term not FPM. The A-10 does NOT have a drift C/O feature. Thread confirming here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=111809 Lesson learned: Check my facts before posting. Thanks for getting the correct info up guys.
