  1. RealA4pilot, are you still around? Or have you joined the Discord channel? Just want to say thank you for all the informative posts. It's been a real treat to read them all.
  2. Sorry to hear that Sven. Been there myself. Keep your chin up and move on to bigger and better things!
  3. Check this video at 5:40. The original F5A was built to take off and land from unprepared surfaces. https://youtu.be/PCg5dPU5jtY
  4. The most remarkable thing about those videos are the colours of the textures. It all looks so much more realistic than how the Normandy map looks like now. I wonder why the textures/colours changed.
  5. Since 2 updated ago you can tick in Mission editor special option (the last tab) whether you want water loaded or not.
  6. It's a known bug. It's on EDs side. RB has reported this to them 2 months ago and waiting on a fix. If you start the mission without water loaded it will be correct.
  7. I was also thinking that Lakenheath would be very popular for the F15 Strike Eagle guys. Bentwaters for the A-10 folks. Not sure about bases for that part of England for Typhoon and former F4 squadrons. Either way, I will use this map with modern jets. May just need to use mods to give the base a modern day feel. I dont really care about the 40s style roads and buildings. Can't really see that detail when screaming around low level at 500 kts.
  8. The master caution came on, gen dropped offline and it seemed like a flameout. Good point about about the fire handle, I don't think it got triggered but I do have a full Harrier pit setup so perhaps one of the inputs there may have triggered it. I'll have a look
  9. Yes, birds are enabled. Random failures not enabled, i think, I'd need to double check but I think they're off by default.
  10. Hi guys, the last few times I flew the Hog I had a random engine failure, not had that ever happen before. Today the failure happened 5 mins after take off , I was low level and had the throttles at full since take off. I guess it could be a birdstrike? The A-10 does not have a max time limit for max thrust, does it?
  11. Thanks for reporting this. The bug has been found and fixed. It should be fixed with the next patch.
  12. Yeh the crap weather on the caucasus map is annoying. Total VR perf killer
  13. I was wondering, in real life, do A-10s depart with full tanks or a reduced fuel load when heading out to the range or a local sortie? With such a massive fuel load and low fuel flow, surely it would make sense to save weight and improve performance by taking a reduced fuel load?
  14. In the mission editor the wind speed that you set at 33ft is always doubled for the wind at 1600 ft and the speed increase happens pretty quickly as you climb above 70ish ft or so. The downside of this is that the wind transition from sea-level to 1600 ft and vice-versa can be quite abrupt, almost wind shear like. Not noticeable for high performance jets but if you're coming in for a hover in the Harrier it can be frustrating. I think it would be good to remove the restriction and have the ability to adjust the 1600 ft wind speed ourselves in the ME
  15. EDIT: I just tested it out. I put 3 tanks in a line, 200 ft apart. And it looks like this. 16 mtrs is 52.5 ft. The yardstick should be 100ish ft. So it seems to be double what it says it is.
  16. You are correct. Ill get it changed and pass it to RB. There is 1 more switch that is inverted...have you found it yet?
  17. You didn't read properly what I wrote. I said to have modern bases as an ADD ON option. Of course keep the map as a WW2 map but I think it would be cool to have an add on that people could buy to have modern bases replace some WW2 fields.
  18. You seen antennas and radar sites...I see targets. haha. Just kidding.
  19. As far as I could thell the 2023 video doesn't show any refueling at all nor does the description mention any new basket physics: Welcome to 2023 and Beyond! 2022 was an outstanding year for DCS which saw the introduction of new modules such as DCS: AH-64D, DCS: Black Shark 3, DCS: MB-339, DCS: Mirage F1, DCS: South Atlantic Map, as well as many exciting campaigns. This is in addition to several impressive community-created aircraft mods. 2023 is a truly exciting year, with the introduction of eagerly awaiting modules such as the DCS: F-4E by Heatblur, DCS: F-15E by RAZBAM, DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior by Polychop, DCS: F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3, DCS: C-130J by the Airplane Simulation Company, new Mirage F1 versions by Aerges, DCS: Normandy 2.0 map by Ugra Media, the DCS: Sinai Map by OnReTech and more! With close to half of our team working on Core engine improvements, 2023 is also looking great, with the introduction of Multi-Threading, DLSS/NIS, Vulkan API. enhanced weather, the dynamic campaign engine, and much more. The road ahead is long and steep, but we will fight hard to achieve the very best for you, our passionate Community, and to deserve your trust and support. Thank you for making our dreams come true!
  20. What is this area? https://goo.gl/maps/K8p2pmwz2w9H1w4H8 They look like bombing targets and some things that look like strafing pits. Kinda weird that it is so close to RAF Akrotiri and it looks like a bit of mess.
  21. Hi Ugra media, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Normandy 2 map. One idea I had that may attract more customers is to build an add on to the map that adds a few air bases from the 70s/80s/90s era. I think this would attract cold war era players who may be looking for the Fulda gap map. You could keep the scenery across the map the same but just build a few modern air bases. There are plenty of notorious cold war bases in that part of England and France. Just an idea....
  22. I had a look at it, the flaps will progressively go up 5 degrees and then you need to get above M 0.88 to get them to go below 5. This is a speed that the Harrier should never really operate in. You probably had a too draggy and heavy loadout to reach speeds and AoA to get the flaps to 5 degrees. If you look at the flap schedule diagram in the NATOPS manual you will see which speeds and AoA will give you what flap angle and DCS should mimic that.
  23. Interesting, let me do some research on that.
  24. Really? You can actually notice a difference? This is weird because in CRS you lock the flaps at 5 degrees. In AUTO they can got all the way up to 0 degrees.
