Examination of stopping distances. A/S hurts.
Garfieldo replied to BiPod's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Excuse the OT post, but shouldn't the brakes be capable of holding the aircraft in place when you power up for takeoff? When I go to max power, the aircraft starts rolling slowly, even with full brakes. Cars are designed so the brakes are stronger than the motor for obvious reasons, I would have thought the same goes for aircraft (maybe excluding the SR-71:D). -
"Air Speed Indicator is a calendar" :) A10 documentary

Nice find! Thanks for posting! -
Dude, you have no idea :smartass: A lot of us did the transition from the A-model from Lockon/Flaming Cliffs to the C-model and have been shuffling about on our knees in praise of ED ever since. Can I get an "Amen", people? Anyway, it's nice that you are making progress and enjoying it. Fun makes learning a lot easier.

I agree, the training missions have evolved quite a lot since Burning Beach. But like Kylania says, creating your own test range is quite easy with the editor. 1. "New mission" 2. keep the sides the way they are 3. put an US A10C next to an airfield (e.g. Batumi) skill: Player loadout: your choice! under waypoints choose takeoff and start from ramp 4. add waypoints for your route last waypoint = land target waypoint's elevation 0 feet AGL for easier target acquisition 5. add targets of choice at target waypoint (e.g. RU 4xT72 + 2xZSU23-4) 6. if you want, you can change the weather and time of the mission 7. done, save, fly, kill! That should be all, I hope I didn't miss anything. Good hunting! :gun_sniper:

Takes a lot of gun rounds to kill a T-90

I think people go "askaskask" instead of "searchsearchsearch"... -
Hi Dragon, very nice missions, thank you for your work! I have a question about Harcore Terrorists, though: Some time into the mission you get a message "All 6 trucks destroyed", but soon there seems to be new trucks appearing. Is that intended? Also in my opinion the mission is too loaded with enemy units/air defenses, but that's only my taste for MP-missions. But I can imagine that you designed your missions with some long-term playability in mind (not like some of the official campaign missions that you can complete with one single GBU-31) for multiple aircraft.

Just found out that I mixed up GAME and REAL settings in options. NOW there's no axis (rotary) assigned to zoom, and the jittering is fixed.
-
1. The code the bomb looks for 2. The code the TGP emits 3. The code the TGP scans for (LSS) It's pretty easy to get those mixed up with somebody else in the air also trying to lase/buddy lase. And just like Eddie said, yes, you should be able to drop LGBs without the TGP.

Just got a MFRCS single-engine landing done with just blowing one tire. Do you really need to trim to change pitch? Since I only used the stick that would explain my more than shallow approach

Maybe a bigger deadzone for the wheel would help in your case? When I look at the settings for my X-52 in the Control Panel, I see that the wheels "shake" quite a bit on their own.

Hello people, since I started using the 64 bit version recently (last patch or so?), I constantly encounter the following problem on my flights: The in-cockpit view seems to shake/snap back and forth/reset along the z-axis for no particular reason. I normally use Freetrack with a 3-led-clip, but this also happens when not using any kind of headtracking software. The attached track was recorded without Freetrack on a vanilla FULL install of the latest build. The first snap occurs after the 2 trucks at the first WP are taken out. It seems the more I change the view (via numpad), the more it snaps/jiggles afterwards. I use a X-52 Pro, but have no axis defined for changing anything view-related. Thanks to anybody who takes his time to watch the track or contribute to the problem. BTW: Why is such a short track already 5 MB big? ZoomProblem.trk

Ok, can you have a look at this track please? Maybe you can take control and pickle an LGB? LGBTest.trk
-
Since this is a pretty rare scenario allow me this question: have you ever dropped a GBU10/12 without a TGP on your aircraft? EDIT: (in the newest build, of course)
-
Because they behave like freefall bombs when not being guided by a laser. When I get my TGP shot to hell I can still get my sweet revenge by dropping them like 82s - I think it is a pretty useful feature.
-
I really doubt it because the buddy lasing for you could be a HMMWV on the ground, starting to lase at 8 seconds before impact. This means the LGBs should be used to being dropped without any laser nearby. And IIRC, in the book "Strike Eagle" pairs of F-15Es dropped LGBs with only one aircraft having a TGP, but both being loaded with LGBs.
-
The manual seems to think that every time you employ LGBs you have a TGP equipped as well, there is no definite limitation listed.
-
If I remember it right, you can drop bombs as soon as there is "MAN REL" in the lower left corner of the HUD, which it is when you select CCIP. And yes, the Master Arm was on. Like I said, before and after the failed attempts to drop the 12s, every weapon worked as usual. I have been playing DCSW since the first Beta came out, so I do not think that I made such a blatantly obvious mistake (although, of course, sh*t does happen). EDIT: @nomdeplume: Thanks for the comfirmation! If a TGP needs to be equipped that would be kind of idiotic, wouldn't it? I think the next thing to try is whether turning the SWITCH for TGP/Laser on without actually having a TGP would work. EDIT2: If the switch doesn't have an effect, we should maybe direct this question to one of the "Wise Ones" around here... (and have a look at the manual)
-
Thanks for your reply. We did exactly what you said but the bomb did not drop. I tried MAN Release (CCIP) in a random place and still no drop. It can't have anything to do with the SPI, or the laser codes. A GBU should drop when delivered in CCRP/CCIP. Period. All other bombs worked fine, so it was not the Master Arm or something like that. Is there anything unique about the GBU-12s that probhibits their drop?

Hi people, last night I had a problem trying buddy lasing: I made a mission for 2 human-controlled planes where one acts as an AFAC armed with Mavs, the TGP and other target marking equipment, the other as the actual bomber without a TGP (kind of like in the book "Strike Eagle"). Everything went perfectly with him sending me coordinates and me dropping 87s, 82s and 38s "blindly" (it was a night mission) onto our targets. Yes, I know, never drop blindly etc etc... When I was down to the GBU-12s on one TER we wanted to try buddy lasing, but the GBUs wouldn't even come off the plane. In some older missions I was able to employ them exactly like a 82 and just CCIP them onto the target, so there should not be any pickle limitations, right? I made several passes on CCRP, CCIP, level, diving etc. and every time I tried to pickle the weapon station in the DSMS would blink white once an then return to its green color, still showing 3 bombs on the TER. There was no notification or warning anywhere. I had not tampered with the weapon profile, so AUTOLASE and stuff like that (which would have the aircraft going "WTF? This guy doesn't know jacksh*t, I am not dropping those bombs!" since I didn't even carry a TGP) would have to be turned off anyway. I ended up SJETing them because I was close to bingo and had to find the tanker. Anybody ever encounter this or recognize this behaviour? Sorry I don't provide a track, thank you for your help.
-
That's why I always have pen and paper ready, as most people here (and all RL pilots) probably do, too. That feature would still be very nice, especially for multiplayer.
-
You cannot move backwards on the ground, if that's what you are trying to do.
-
Maybe you mean the SA (situational awareness) cue for the TGP? It shows the TGP's line of sight relative to your aircraft. I don't now how up-to-date my manual is, but in mine it's on page 337, figure 248. EDIT: Just found out that the TVV is the FPM, I thought it had something to do with the "TV" mode of the TGP.

Wow, very riveting read! Congrats on the A2A kill, they don't come easy...
