I just finished building a new PC to run DCS. Now I'm at the step of moving all of my configurations over to the new PC. I took the drive out of the old PC and moved it to the new one so I have direct access to all of the files. I've also installed all of the software onto the new PC. So now comes the substantial task of configuration. Are there some files that I can just copy to the new installation locations so that I don't have to manually re-do each setting for all of the apps I use with DCS? Any tips you can offer? The apps I need to re-configure are: - DCS - (Im guessing that I can just move the .lua file? How many .lua files are there?) - My Kneeboards - (Im guessing I can just copy these over) - SRS - Voice Attack - Viacom Pro - PiTool I realized I am screwed on my usb button box and flight controls settings. Going forward is there an app or way to save button box and control configurations to make these settings portable? Your help in this would be much appreciated.

I only fly in VR (Pimax 8KX). When I am configuring my load out the UI responds very slowly. For example when I pick "Rockets" it takes a few seconds for the list to appear. The UI locks up and I have to stay still for a while until things start being responsive again. Its really annoying. I was watching a Youtube video and I noticed that the guy in the video wasn't having that problem. Anyone else have slow response from the loadout menus? Is it a VR issue? Its annoying. Makes configuring a loadout take a really long time.

I usually fly the A10C with the Throttles up against the "detent". (I have a Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle so I have an actual detent.) I thought that with the throttles up against the detent I was in Mil Power for the A10C. I usually only go beyond the detent (which on other jets would be afterburner) when taking off or when I need to make haste out of a dicey situation. It's my understanding that the A10 doesn't have an afterburner. So aside from using a little more fuel is it bad to fly for long periods of time in that area beyond the detent? Like could it cause overheating or some other engine damage?

missing track file Random Engine Fires
melchionda replied to CrypticVillain's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I've had a few engine fires in my left engine for no apparent reason. At first I thought that I might have been hit and thats what caused the fire, but it happened tonight and yesterday and I'm almost positive that it wasn't due to getting hit. I thought maybe I was over-stressing the engine too so on this last flight I kept throttle at like 90%... still had a fire anyway. -
Difficulty getting laser designator to fire
melchionda replied to melchionda's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Thanks guys... You were right... it was the mask issue. The reason I am seeing it now is that we didn't have laser guided rockets on the old A10 so I am attempting to do something different with the new A10 that I wasn't doing with the old one. Essentially, I was trying to set up my "laze" while I was still in orbit around the target. My plan was stay in orbit, laze... then turn in and fire the rocket. I began to notice that I had a much better chance of getting a successful laze the closer the target was to bore sight and so therefore not masked. -
I got pretty proficient with the A10C but now since the A10CII I find myself running into all sorts of issues. One of them is how to employ the targeting pod laser. As long as the targeting pod is SOI is there any reason why the laser might not fire? Before the A10CII release I remember being able to fire the laser designator pretty easily. Now it seems like there might be some conditions or settings that I am unaware of to get it to fire? For example: - Do you need to have the target already locked up as a POINT track target to fire the laser? - Does a specific weapon have to be selected?
-
So is it in fact correct that you need to have the DSMS up on one of the MFCD's and HUD as SOI in order to cycle through the profiles using the left/right DMS button? I just upgraded my release level yesterday, (I only run the stable releases) and I've noticed some changes in my ability to change weapons profiles. I thought I remember being able to change profiles with DMS left/right with almost any sensor as SOI before the A10CII release.

Do you fly the A10C in VR? Have you ever interacted with the CDU or the radios? I find it incredibly difficult to get my body into a position that allows me to interact with those. I find the same thing in the F14 when changing the channels on the Tacan. Its made extra difficult by the fact that the panels are "aged" so the labels are hard to see. The way I solve the problem now is to use a view command to slide my "view" all the way back as far as it will go and then do what I need to do and then slide my seat forward again.

This seems odd. I thought the Flashlight was just a handheld flashlight. Is this a bug?

Hi folks, Is it possible to set up snap views when using VR? I use a Pimax 8K headset and I'm trying to set up snap views for the left side and right side consoles in the A10C. However every time I create one the view angle isn't what I've specified. Also, many of the camera move commands don't seem to work at all, however I think I'm starting to figure out that those don't work in TrackiR and probably don't work in VR for the same reason? I'm interested in snap views of the consoles because I'm trying to set up for radio, tacan and CDU operation.

Hi Folks, I'm trying to make views of the left and right side consoles so that I can work the radios and the CDU in VR with out having to lean over in weird positions to see what I am doing. My goal is to create a view where the view is straight down perpendicular to the panel. When I use the snap view function and save a new view using the RAlt + 0 command with my head in this position the view is saved as if I'm looking forward over the console as opposed to straight down. Anyone have a good way to create good views of the Radios and CDU in the A10 which can be mapped to a button? The other question I have is, I cant seem to find commands that would move the static view into those positions. I tried playing around with the camera view controls in the cockpit ie- "Move camera down and to the right" but they don't seem to move the camera. Also, I noticed something in the view list that I think was called Cockpit Panel View. Does anyone know what that is? I couldn't get it to do anything beyond give me a weird view angle from which I had trouble getting out of.

What's the best way to control zoom when looking for targets?
melchionda replied to Hive's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I have zoom mapped to the back direction on the mic switch on my Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle. It means you lose one Mic Switch position but the action feels natural to me and I find it easy to zoom when looking at fine text inside my cockpit, lining up a shot in the reticle in my hud, or scanning the terrain for stuff. If I can figure out the radios I may make the zoom a combo so that I gain back that particular Comms command. -
Thanks so much! Thats awesome, I will do that. I do not use TARGET or a Script Editor. I never really saw a need and not really sure how they would help. I use voice attack for some things that I cant do in the cockpit in VR, but lately I've gone to programing two sets of about 30 buttons on two big button boxes which are wired to Leo Bodnar boards.

I'm looking for more focused training with real cold and dark starts so I went in and copied all of the quick start missions into another folder and modified them so that I could start the mission on the ground and in a cold and dark aircraft. Im not that experienced with the mission editor so I may not have done it right, but of the missions I've tried so far seem to work. The only thing that isn't working is that there is no ATC AI. When I ask for permission to start up, taxi, etc I get no response. To keep it simple I'm using the options menu. Is there logic that I have to program into the mission to get the ATC to talk to me? I thought that the Airports had that already built in.

I was thinking that might be a problem too, so what I did was go into the Controls Config page and I made sure to delete any mappings for the gun trigger except for the one for the actual trigger. However I still wasn't convinced I had eradicated that possibility until last night when I was able to completely let go of the stick while it was firing. After I let go of the stick It even paused for a split second and then started firing again.

Hi, I have the Thrustmaster Warthog Stick and Throttle. I noticed that every now and then the gun will fire by itself. At first I thought I was unknowingly squeezing the trigger, but last night it happened again and I was able to completely let go of the stick while it was continuously firing. Anyone ever see anything like this and more importantly were you able to fix it?

So you plug this into one of the USB port on your motherboard?
-
@harryharry - Thanks for your reply. After a few days of focused research I'm beginning to see that the SFX-100 design is a great entry point if you are ready to do the work.

Does anyone have any experience with full motion cockpits, I'm particularly interested in their use with VR. I'm getting the feeling that they are not all that necessary for flight sims but I also do iRacing, and I think it would be a huge benefit for driving sims. I don't want to spend like 10,000 but I would spend $2000 to get started with a 2 degree of movement kit. For example these guys can do a 2 degree kit for about $2K USD. -> https://dofreality.com/ I have no idea how good it is though and there is no way to try it out. If this is the wrong place to ask about this let me know. I looked around a bit but couldn't find a thread about full motion cockpits.

Hey folks, I have a ton of usb plugs plugged into my PC. Its a bit of a mess and I'm actually running out of sockets. Does anyone have a recommendation for a USB hub that is rock solid and has been working well for them? I'm looking for around 8 to 10 usb ports. Also, I'm looking for a solution to help me better manage my button mappings and I was also wondering if there is any problem with Windows keeping track of various USB device IDs when you use a hub.
-
Some more information here. I was attempting to re-map the buttons and I realized that my button mappings were actually transferred from one of my Leo Bodnar boards to the other. Is the problem here that Windows cant adequately identify the two boards as distinctly different? Anyone have any ideas about how to help windows keep track of these two separate controllers?

Last night I tried to do a quick flight and realized that both of my button boxes (each powered by its own Leo Bodnar BUO836X Joystick board) were no longer responsive in DCS. I checked the USB plugs and they seemed fine. I exited the sim and went into Windows control panel and I was able to confirm that Windows is seeing both boards and that they appear to be functioning perfectly. I confirmed this by going into the Game Controller Properties Test window, there I could see a graphical representation of all 32 buttons. I pressed each button on both button boxes and was able to get the corresponding "button indicator" to light up in the Windows controller properties test panel. However, when I jumped back in the sim the buttons were still un-responsive. There were a lot of changes over the past few days. I've been building a new computer and so I havn't been flying at all. When I started up DCS last night there were some updates, I think SRS and maybe Steam VR. I've never had problems with those updates before though. Also, I just upgraded from a Pimax 8K+ to an 8KX. The reason I mention this is that the 8K+ gets its power from a wall plug, where as the 8KX gets its power from a USB that is plugged into the computer. The Pimax Headset seems to be working fine in that visuals are great, I had audio through the integrated headphones and I was able to get voice attack to work (so the mic works too). Has anyone had trouble with Leo Boards not working in DCS? This is a first for me...I've been using these boards for years and they always worked great.
