They won't do that. I asked them to add another 16gb before sending it to me and got a no too. I don't want to have to buy all the ram by going to 64gb. I don't think I need it for single player. Do you? Looking at my system it looks like i'll have to remove the radiator to add the Ram. I really didn't want to start pulling it apart. That's why I bought a built system. I'm old and my fingers don't work as well as they used to. I was an auto mechanic for 20 years when I was young and loved working on anything mechanical. Now, I dread it. Push the start button and go fly is my style now.

I wonder is those that use a pressure mod in the DCS Viper stick think it's twitchy?

Ok, thanks guys. I'll leave it set at 60fps. Graphics look perfect and it runs super smooth. I do have to increase my Ram. It's only 16gb right now. When I run Task manager in performance setting it says I have 15.9gb and i'm using 15.1-15.4gb. That's just flying around with my wingman in single play. I never use multi. Sitting parked on the Supercarrier with lots of Hornets parked and taking off gives me the same results. I'll call up Maingear today and order another 16gb of ram to match what I have now. CPU is just loafing and runs cool. Thanks again.

Ok, GPU is 3080 Founder Edition. This is the monitor. https://www.newegg.com/black-asus-tuf-gaming-vg27aq-90lm0500-b013b0-27/p/N82E16824236987?nm_mc=AFC-RAN-COM&cm_mmc=AFC-RAN-COM&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_source=afc-Hatch&AFFID=2879876&AFFNAME=Hatch&ACRID=1&ASUBID=s16573076881624q6ha52417&ASID=&ranMID=44583&ranEAID=2879876&ranSiteID=9SHw.8narkE-vEWCCznqTtzhDpMb3Hi4Dw G-sync was on by default and I left it there. I set the fps by the max fps setting in Nvidia. I just want to know if it maters what I set it at. Also, if the fps dips below what I set it at does it matter. I can set it at 60fps and it never shows anything but 60fps. I can use higher numbers but it will hold pretty good but every now and then it will dip a few fps. Any disadvantages with just using 60fps. Not locked and I get around 130-150fps.

Ok, I need some advice. If I run DCS without locking my fps it works the GPU too hard. I'm not sure what to lock it at? My refresh rate is 144Hz if that matters. If I lock the fps at a number that my system can hold and the fps dips under my lock number. Does that cause a problem like stutters? Thanks for any help.

That's what I do. I'm too busy in the turn to fumble for the flap switch, so like you say. Flip it early. I know i'll be in the turn when i'm down to flap speed and it's nice to not worry about it.
-
The same for WW2 planes. If I had to pick one favorite plane it wouldn't be a jet. I'll pick the P-51. My buddy owns one. I've loved that plane since I was a kid. We were both born about the same time.
-
I know. I've had the Hornet since 2018.
-
I ordered the Hornet stick grip. I'll use the REEC switch for zoom. It's a 5 way switch now right? That gives me 3 more positions for odd stuff.
-
I drop the flaps in the turn.
-
That's you. Not everybody. Why do you think Winwing and other makers make a HOTAS for a specific plane?
-
That's the kind of info I wanted to get. Ok, I can see it being made that way being a center stick in the real plane. The Viper being a side stick feels perfect as a sidestick. Ok, you saved me some money. My friend is also going to mount the stick on his side like a Viper. I'll tell him to get the setup I have. He liked it. Thanks
-
I've heard that. I'll be buying the WinWing. It gets good reviews.
-
I thought of that but in my case I think it would be more comfortable. I have my stick on my right side and it's lower than what is comfortable for the Viper stick. So, maybe the Hornet stick is a good choice for me? I do like the extra immersion of using a Hornet stick for the Hornet. I can use the small switch for zoom and clicking stick and pilot off.

On the Hornet forum. Nobody uses a Hornet stick?
-
One last question and this one is for me too. He's ready to order a WinWing. I have the Viper stick on mine but the Hornet throttle grip. I was thinking of getting the Hornet stick too but have neve never handled one. The Hornet stick has less buttons than the Viper but it's fine for flying the Hornet. Plus, my Viper grip has the extra buttons, so it really has more buttons. My friend has flown the Hornet with my Viper stick and likes it but he knows it's not the Hornet stick and wants it. So my question is for those who have both sticks or have at least handled both. Which one do you like best? Which feels more comfortable. Reach for button comfort? It makes more sense for me to order the Hornet stick with his HOTAS order. We can work out the shipping charges and both save some money. All opinions welcome. Thanks

It's not hard to grasp and I did it until I tried the mod. I think it's better.
-
He'll always have me to help him.
-
Yeah, he picked the Hornet. Boat landings was more than he could pass up.
-
I agree completely. The Hog HOTAS got worse with the Hog Killer. You should see the look on my friends face when I showed him the Hog HOTAS layout he'd have to remember. He also didn't like the HUD on the Hog. Then he saw the HOTAS for the Hornet and smiled. He also got excited watching the carrier landings. Wait until he tries it. I think his mind is made up.
-
I always had a soft spot for the Hog. All the way back to Lock On.
-
Just for my own personal info. Would you consider the A-10C the most accurate modeled plane in DCS? Leaving out the Tomcat. I can't get along with it's cockpit.

New Computer time and I need help
BuzzU replied to MarHar17's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
They listed enough for me to understand. You know I ask for help on the more technical stuff. How long my system will last remains to be seen but I have no complaint with it's performance. I'm also impressed with their customer service. I'll also add it could be dragged behind the UPS truck and not get damage it was packed so well. -
He's coming over today to fly all three planes on my system. He's already a pilot, so the flying part won't be hard for him. I'll give him some quick lessons on each plane and let him drop some dumb bombs. Maybe a little dogfighting too. I doubt he'll pick the Hog after flying the Hornet and Viper. Between the Hornet and Viper will be up to him. Then when he has the plane picked he can get the proper WinWing HOTAS for it. I think this is the best plan and takes me out of making the decision for him.
