The F-18E is coming along and I wanted to show it off a little. Sweetest was a bit hesitant since it is in a rather rough form right now with most of the skin simply being roughed in. Kind of like an artist's version of the bright orange "TEXTURE NOT AVAILABLE"

Being a first, she's learning a lot about the medium and how to better prepare the panel. This panel- unlike the wall which we had ensured was silky smooth when we taped / mudded / primed it- turned out to be quite rough by comparison and this has somewhat limited her ability to get the control over the paint that she expected. Lesson learned, of course, so now she has the proper materials to bring future panels to the appropriate level of smoothness.

I'm also happy to report that she has been retained to commission a painting of an Air Force F-4. The details are still highly preliminary but suffice to say she's EXTREMELY excited with this new genre.

Thanks Yurgon...

Another update:

One step closer... again hampered a bit by the rough surface on the panel but still looking mighty fine. Forgive the poor light discipline with the flash but gives an idea!

Last one: Finished.

And the A-10 finished product (well... the Mav is going to be removed but you know what I mean) just because it is so ridiculously full of awesome.

And the latest F4 Phantom II just because I'd like to put a post in here with all her finished (the F4 has a smidge left to do but I can't wait.)

Then the F-16 on a smaller panel but still just extraordinary!

Once upon a time I had a mind. But then art like this came along, and blew it completely away. So now I have a misfiring hunk of synapses while I'm trying to pick my jaw up from the floor.

Yep, this is hilariously awesome work!

Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone.

I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.

Next is an Air Force f4- she has been retained to commission a painting for a member in this community.

On another exciting note she was approached to do prints of the f18 for an air cadet auction so I expect a few of these may be out in circulation soon!

If anyone is interested in a print or perhaps a custom one off project of your own, please pm me.

Well- things have been a bit on the quiet side for the last little bit. Sweetest is nearing completion on the F4 and I thought I would share. You may notice some subtle differences between the F4 in the photo and the one in the painting and this was to preserve the appearance of the aircraft this painting is actually being commissioned to demonstrate.

Anyway, I bring to you the latest!

very nice! she's got quite the eye to capture this, and translate it to a picture.

Agreed.

Back in the day I knew which sidewinders were being used by AF F4s versus Navy F4s... all their fin configurations and the sometimes substantial internal differences...

This time, however, I was hard pressed to remember and I think she ended up just going with the version on the featured aircraft- Might be Es? The J had a much more square appearance on the tips...

Now the hunt is on for the best VF84 Jolly Roger F14 photo ever taken. Other favourites include but are not limited to VF-41, VF-143 and a few others that will come to mind...

She's really, really stoked about getting a Tomcat done and so am I. Her only issue is that she doesn't want any "common" photo and would really like to smash this one out of the universe.

Having a spectacular photo as a template sure wouldn't hurt. But an F-14 in the Jolly Rogers skin, I just don't see how it could not look great. :D

Well- it's official.

Next 12x16 panel is being prepared now... The image below:

I'm excited because after this I think it'll be a Tomcat. Though we just learned that Maple Flag is next month... so the F18C may get priority. We'll see...

Wow, nice work!

Wonder if you could get any of those companies that make scale models interested? They always have box art on most of their models, and those are definitely up to scratch.

I agree 100% default- Most of the model art is a bit... how do we say... exagerated- which it needs to be for marketing I suppose. Sweetest is taking a lot of pride in preserving a meticulous level of detail. It was neat for the A-10 since I was able to approach guys like Paulrkii and say... "we know it looks like this in this photo, but in this other photo it looks like this... what sort of situations would it be one way versus the other." She was insistent on getting every detail right- and it was easier to do it right when she understood why it was like that.

P*Funk- I must say that in terms of the sheer skill she demonstrated in that F-4 photo it will be tough to match. With that said, she is pretty excited about the F-16 and though a "plain" single colour background "looks" plain... there is a lot of depth- keeping in mind that in context it looks flat but is in fact expansive. It takes some pretty special talents to get a clear sky to look, well... clear. She has described the process to me in some detail and I'm really anxious to see the result.

The vortices will also be a new characteristic for her to develop a technique for- those who think it's easy to create the effect in the sim ought to try painting them first.

The F4 is in transition to the client now and may in fact already have arrived... if not today then hopefully tomorrow!
