3D SoundBack unfortunately is not helping me any. I've just bought Acer Aspire 5739G notebook computer that uses Realtek sound chip. The notebook runs Flaming Cliffs rally well. However, this sound problem is killing me.

3D SoundBack installs the DSOUND.dll in FC folder. I confirmed that. However it doesn't seem that the DSOUND.dll does anything. The sound problem is still here. And the sound problem only occurs when playing on-line.

I don't really know where to go from here.

Just a heads up from me, for a few months I had Windows 7 RC 64-bit installed on my machine, using these Alchemy driver fixed the lound engine noise in LockOn (I use Creative X-Fi ExtremeGamer sound card) which is exact same issue as in Vista as Windows 7 handles sound exact same way as Vista.

I did come accross one new issue using the Alchemy driver, and this is after I used non-default sound files for airbrake, flaps and few others. New issue is that I could hear these sounds even while in closed cockpit (and with original sounds it doesn't do this) even when aircraft is far away (few Km's). The new sound files are in exact same format and sampling and I am using these in XP right now and this issue doesn't exist.

I (sort of) solved my sound problem. I went to a local Best Buy and purchased Sound Blaster X-Fi Go, USB sound adapter. I then installed SoundBlaster Alchemy, set it up and Flaming Cliffs sounds are now perfect! I can adjust sounds perfectly, sounds are clear and without noise.

I did loose sound on my Aspire built in speakers, however, I seldom use them when playing Flaming Cliffs.

How did you get alchemy to run on windows 7? I have the release version of windows 7 ultimate installed (I get it through my work) and I have the HS1000 USB X-FI gaming headphones that supports alchemy but when I try to install alchemy it doesnt detect any creative hardware on my computer.

You have to install other drivers before you can apply the alchemy driver-set. If your headset works without drivers, you may have to install them manually.

Like Feuerfalke and Prophet said, first you need to install your regular sound card driver, then Alchemy driver, then manually add LockOn to the list of games in Alchemy.

But I have installed the regular sound drivers first. I have tried with the normal vista x64 drivers and the win 7 drivers for my headphones but neither of them let me install alchemy cause it does not detect any creative compatible hardware.

is your sound card creative brand?

Hm... maybe you are just not aware but once you install Alchemy and run it, it is not supposed to detect anything, rather you run the aplication (Alchemy) and then in game list you need to manually add the path to game executable (lockon.exe in this case) and that's it. After you've done that you can close the Alchemy application and game sound engine will be picked up by Alchemy filters and not your regular sound card drivers.

Yes offcourse its a creative brand :). Its the HS1000 gamingheadphones with a built in X-FI soundcard and alchemy worked for me under vista.

Well in my case when I try to install alchemy it says that it cant detect any creative hardware and then it quits installing. Maybe if it detects the hardware you might not notice that it looks for it when trying to install.

Yes, the HS1000 a Creative product and it is supported by all Alchemy-versions. The problem is, though, that there are probably only supplementary drivers, so the hardware is not recognized as Alchemy-compatible. Maybe you can try to download any X-FI-driver and install them. If it works, you may be able to install Alchemy, too?

Kirai does this mean you don't actually have a sound card, and only has these headsets plugged into USB? I don't think they would be able to put in a whole circuitry and chips of regular PCI sound card into a headset... like Fauerfalke said I doubt that, even though it's Creative brand products those headsets, they have full set of hardware filters and drivers like a separate sound card has, which is probably why when you install Alchemy it doesn't recognize any compatible hardware.

I think you can tell if it isn't compatible if in your headset driver/software you don't have any sound filtering like EAX, etc

I have a normal soundcard too, Realtek HD 7.1 but the thing is that HS-1000 headphones supports alchemy and I used it in Vista x64. You might be right that its not a complete soundcard built into the headphones, maybe its just the x-fi filter or something but it should work with alchemy. I have contacted Creative and of course the only answer I got was that they have not technical support on windows 7 untill it is released in october. This is the bad thing when I always get the operating systems in advance, I just have to wait untill october and then get the real drivers for HS-1000 and windows 7.

I get sound so its not that but the sound is not as good as it could be with alchemy. I have tried different drivers for hs-1000 without any luck, I just have to wait.

run

C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek\3D Sound Back Beta0.1\3DSoundBack.exe

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative\ALchemy\ALchemy.exe

How did you do that ? I have Win 7 64 and installed oalinst.exe (alchemy) but don't have any alchemy folder or alchemy.exe

Edit:Ah sorry I mixed up openAL and Alchemy.

But still got the bug when you pause/unpause. It goes away when you zoom out very far in F2-view. Then nothing happens when pause/unpause but otherwise still got the loud engine then.

Which path did you use ? I took C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50.

What do you think, would be a problem with the sound in the Flaming Cliffs, could be solved by installing game on a virtual machine under Windows 7 (for example 64 bit) Windows XP (32 bit) mode?

Creative Alchemy does not release game volume control in Vista Volume Mixer

Creative Alchemy does not release Locon's volume control in Vista Volume Mixer. The sim slider moves up and down but does nothing. Unfortunately this does not allow me to change the volume of my flight sim in order for it not to overpower my voice comms program unless I remove the program from Alchemy. Any ideas?

Thank you

Not sure which program you're referring to?

Something very interesting has accured...as a result of playing around and testing I realize I no longer need to use Alchemy as all my sounds are playing perfectly. Actually I'm getting much better channel separation not using Alchemy anymore. I wonder if my last major update 8 months ago from Creative fixed the issue with regards to DirectSound/opengl.

Thank you.

sound issues.

Hi guys,

i'm having sound issues with windows 7 64 bit, when flying all of a sudden the engine sound disappear or sometimes appear!!

Are we supposed to be hearing the engine sound inside the cockpit!

ECM has no sounds but i see them fired. I have the soundmax onboard "Asus" P5Q. Would the 3DSoundBack_Beta0.1 fix this problem?
