Ground services

SilentSierra

Recommended Posts

I found this product for FSX, the GSX looks very nice.

The DCS World already have a "virtual" ground services, is there any plans to do something like this?

PS: I know this is not a priority, but it will look very nice see the ground crew refueling, reloading and attaching other stuffs like ground power, ladder, etc.

This screenshot of aircraft carrier in the TBS have the crew on the deck.

Best regards.

+9000 Yes would love to see that - much more immersive and realistic. It would certainly be much more interesting that just watching stuff magically appear on the plane. Maybe it could even be a DLC? I mean could you imagine this kind of thing going on in DCS?

As far as priority is concerned, yes there are more pressing things that need to be attended to (DCS 2.5, weather, new effects, visual improvements etc etc etc) but this is something that would add a new dimension to DCS and help level the playing field as far as immersion is concerned :)

Yes, I did ask about this back in 2016 but the response was not enough for the team to be interested in getting into the business I guess.

I wish there was though, and I think that with carrier deck crew it will be a little bit more possible to expand deck ops to land bases. I wish.

Motion capture

I wonder how much effort such a feature would require technically... excluding all the modeling and texture work for the ground crew assets...

At some point in discussions, I had with a group initially interested in doing that, we began to wonder if motion capture would be portable to the engine. Unfortunately, the sponsor backed out before we turned officially to ED with our ideas and questions. Maybe there should have been a Kickstarter :)

VPC-Airfield Equipment for DCS World

The mod was created to fill the respective aerodrome infrastructure and enhance authenticity. It presents a set of objects, ranging from very small (signs and carts) to large buildings (checkpoints, control towers, hangars). An additional requirement of the mod is to retain acceptable PC performance.

Currently the mod is a beta-version and will be upgraded in the future.

Key Features:

  • Lighting is automatically switched from 20:00 to 6:00.
  • Object models (except for taxiway signs) have collision.
  • Low system requirements.
  • Compatible with JSGME.

The new update of VPC Airfield Equipment mod came out and included:

  • objects for NATO;
  • transport objects.

And old models have been also remade

This is awesome! I'd especially love to see a WWII version of this! Is it all static, or are there commands through the radio and animations will start playing? If ground power is requested, will a GPU appear next to you?
