It that correct? Why would you do an FCS reset or BIT (two different things), before starting the engines? Stay safe
sigfan86 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 1. Start both engines 2. Unfold wings, handle in 3. Left display fcs 4. Right display bit page 5. Enter fcs bit page 6. Flaps to auto 7. Clear fcs errors 8. Hold fcs bit switch while simultaneously clicking fcs bit on right display 9. Profit? System: Ryzen 5900x, G.Skill 3600 32GB, MSI 4090 suprim liquid X, samsung odyssey+ headset
mytai01 Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 I guess my point isn't necessarily to do things the right way, but rather to see what happens when I don't follow the procedure. If this is a real issue, then what do I have to do to correct it? Does this break the jet in real life? Does maintenance have to fix it? If this doesn't happen in the real plane, then it's a bug that needs to be fixed in the game. So, I guess I'm flight testing the virtual Hornet... I can double check later tonight after the flight schedule wraps up. The X'd out condition persists even after the engines are started and everything is turned on. randomTOTEN Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 TL;DR Don't use Ground Power. Here's the track... So I messed around with your track. After your first FCS BIT, I took control of the track. I tried using all the techniques in the RL manual (including pulling the 4 FCS Circuit Breakers for 10 seconds), and couldn't clear the AIL OFF message, or aileron X's. I reran your track, took control before you requested GPU, and started the aircraft using only battery power + APU. Normal start, no aileron failures. I reran the track, and let you start the aircraft again using GPU + APU. I took control after FCS BIT again and tried something different. I turned off both GENs, letting the airplane drop to battery power. I then reconnected the Generators, and still couldn't clear the AIL OFF (X) errors. So with both engines running I turned off GENs + BATT. Airplane's completely cold now. I reconnected the power, and FCS was tripped. I was still unable to clear AIL OFF or the X's on the display. The Hornet doesn't like GPU right now... I suggest you don't use it until that's fixed.

mongo52 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 In real life with no hyds just electrical power all the control surfaces should be x'd out even after a fcs reset.
randomTOTEN Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 In real life with no hyds just electrical power all the control surfaces should be x'd out even after a fcs reset. Contrary to his OP, the track occurs with both engines running and producing hydraulic power. All of my diagnostics occurred with both engines at idle and no HYDR 1/2 messages displayed.
Captain Orso Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I thought I was the only one to have this bug. I've had it two or three times over the last couple days, always when landing to refuel, and picking up ground power before shutting the engines down, so that all my start up settings remain and I don't have go through everything again, including adding waypoints and editing sequences. I just now had it again, but the ailerons worked fine and after flying a bit, the error disappeared. But a couple days ago, the ailerons didn't work properly on the ground (wouldn't turn in one direction) and I changed aircraft. The time the ailerons wouldn't work I ran the control surfaces test and passed without issue  When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs.
