Pilotasso Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 The outside world makes the HUD symbology almost invisible. How do I set darker color? (it was easy in Fc2). .
Coutie Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I'd like to know this too. I set the HUD brightness controls, but it's as bright as it can be by default.

Pilotasso Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 Tried that, and the available colors are too palid. .
racketyjack Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Difficult time seeing the HUD. I know Im getting old but Ive never had such a difficult time seeing the F-15 HUD in a sim before. My monitor is at 1280X1024X32. Anyway to make it more readable? Maybe larger fonts or whatever?
Frostie Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Tried that, and the available colors are too palid. \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\View with notepad++ Find Su27 hud color -- HUD RGB color HUDColor = {} HUDColor[su_27] = {0, 255, 0} HUDColor[su_25] = {255,100, 10} and change it to whatever RGB you want and it will change F-15 hud colour also. 1 "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 51st PVO "BISONS" Fastest MiG pilot in the world - TCR'10 https://100kiap.org

I tried but didn't work. Can you please explain this in more detail, exactly how do I get an almost black font {61, 61, 61} as an additional HUD color for F-15 [FC3]? Thank you
Crescendo Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Colours aside, setting "High Dynamic Range" (HDR) to off in the settings menu lessens the 'washed out' look of the HUD. However, this is only a marginal improvement. It seems to me that the 6DoF F-15 HUD tries too hard to be 'graphically fancy' at the cost of user-friendliness. I would much prefer a clearer-rendering HUD like the A-10C or the various other FC3 aircraft. . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kenan Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I don't have any issues with the F15 hud. It works quite well for me, hope you guys find a way to enjoy it as well. Can you please explain this in more detail, exactly how do I get an almost black font {61, 61, 61} as an additional HUD color for F-15 [FC3]? Thank you its RGB colour (Red, Green, Blue) values 255, 255, 255 would be completely black. 200, 200, 200 would be some nuance of gray. higher the numbers, the darker, as long as all 3 numbers are the same you will get grayscale. increase one of the other. tip. use the full colour palette in MS Paint to check RGB colour appearance and values.

Sorry, I understand about RGB color values what I don't understand is which file in FC3 gets edited and exactly what and where do you put your color values in that file? As well, where do I find the HDR switch?
Crescendo Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Where do I find the HDR switch? Thank you. Open DCS World. It's in the OPTIONS > SYSTEM menu at the bottom-left. . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
fitness88 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Thanks I found the HDR, couldn't see much change. I really would like to find a way to change the colors to less pastel and more solid and dark. Anyone have any ideas in FC3? Thank you.
kontiuka Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I think the HUD colours are probably more realistic looking now but definitely harder to see, especially against bright skies. You almost have to be zoomed in on the HUD to be able to read it.
Witchking Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 play around with gamma settings on your monitor... it looks fine for me.
