Normandy 2 Introduction We are delighted to announce that Ugra Media’s next map will be DCS: Normandy 2. Using the skills developed whilst creating the outstanding DCS: Syria map, the new Normandy 2 map will use the latest DCS mapping technologies to create an epic World War II battlefield. The DCS: Normandy 2 map enlarges the DCS: Normandy 1944 map to 400 x 600 km to include London, Paris and the surrounding regions. Normandy 2 will feature over 130 original map objects and a detailed area six times larger than DCS: Normandy 1944. The Normandy map has been redesigned to include new churches, train stations, market squares, and gas stations, plus many other cultural and natural features. The United Kingdom region has been completely redone to a much greater level of detail and accuracy. This is in addition to also updating the French region. Key Features of DCS: Normandy 2 Recreation of London and Paris. Improved ground textures, roads, rail lines, fields, forests and new trees. Additional telegraph and power poles, semaphores, fences and new buildings More accurate rivers and coastlines, including the chalk cliffs of southern England. Updated and unique airfields with greater details and more equipment to better match the period. Normandy 2 brings the number of unique airfields to 50. DCS: Normandy 2 will benefit from new technology that allows existing maps to be extended with low-detailed areas. If you wish to pass on the upgrade, you may still join multiplayer servers and compatibility with campaigns will remain. Please note that the Normandy 2 upgrade is required to experience a much higher level of detail. DCS: Normandy 2 will be available as a complete map for $59.99 USD. If you have either DCS: Normandy 1944 or DCS: The Channel maps, you can purchase Normandy 2 for $14.99 USD. If you own both, you can purchase DCS: Normandy 2 for only $9.99 USD. Bye Phant

Hello all, I have been working on a new project for a few weeks now and absolutely loving the new map. The But, having real issues with the historical map date and allied airfields spattered all over Normandy. Its great for recreating scenarios around late June to August and the retreat of the Germans, though terrible for pre Normandy invasion and around June 6-7th. I feel like the airfields are a step back from the old map, yes it has more but severely limits plausible timeframes. Furthermore an obstacle I have run into is when creating a large map mission its increasingly difficult to populate most airfields with statics and eye candy as your going to hit your unit limit pretty damn fast and havent even started on the germans yet. The question: The info is probably out there but unable to find any info, do the devs have any plans in the future to remove or change shown airfields? Is this even possible in the dcs environment? Am happy to carry on and ignore this glaring issue with the map and live with it, but its frustrating trying to recreate an invasion scenario that is plausible, diving down on Omaha/Utah/Gold/Juno/Sword beech with premade allied airfields sat there in the background breaking the immersion. The old one was manageable, this one is over done. Also the performance is not equal to the old version, not even close imo.

I am trying to set up a fairly simple mission based out of Carpiquet. I have set up a few groups of Spitfire IXs parked on the ramps and some AI Mosquitos randomly parked. Also I have placed 4 x airfield defence artillery units spaced around the airfield. I have also made up a similar enemy airfield setup away to the south with 3 Ju88s on the runway bombed up and waypointed to Carpiquet. Numerous AI scattered around that airfield (Orly?) and a number of Flak37mm units to defend it. So far so good. How do I ensure that when I take off to intercept the Ju88s I am not on my own and my accompanying flight members will join me and obey my orders to attack my target or watch my back? Cheers Peter

I bought Normandy 2.0. Wanted to check it out. Map in the game is still the same as ever, no update loaded. I thought well they can't seriously sell a module that's only available on the Beta version can they? So I went to the module manager and removed Normandy 1944 module trying to force an update by re installation. The game uninstalled the module no problem and restarted. I went to the module manager again and when checking for new licenses it finds nothing. Does not ask me to reinstall Normandy... does not even list Normandy anymore. It seem up and gone... Started full DCS repair > no effect. What is going on?

Of course, not much time on N'2.0 map behing me, but where I've been (just the old N'44 part of the map) looks .... great! In addition, I have the impression that the map is nicely optimized and actually generates a lot of FPS. The flight just above the ground (copters) shows a lot of details and makes an amazing impression. You can see that a lot of work and time was put into creating this map. So far, I'm impressed and despite the obvious problems as it is at the beginning, it looks very promising. I'm also waiting for some campaigns (or updates) from @Reflected , it will be nice to have missions in such a large area! Congratulations Ugra/ED and thanks a lot! Btw. Pls think to add Channel map here too to have one BIG map with the same quality on the whole area, it could be next step forward (even as payware update).

I gifted Normandy 2.0 to my nephew, but he doesn't have the WWII Assets Pack. When he tries to load the Bf-109 instant actions, he gets a message that he needs the module Armour and Techniques. Not sure if this results from the fact it was a gift and I DO own the module, if there was something wrong with his configuration or if the instant actions are really wrongly created and they need assets that are not necessarily owned by the user. I'd appreciate some pointers. Thanks. Edit: Perhaps this is a Bf-109 issue and not Normandy? But he doesn't have any other module to try.

I accidentally found an error in the scenario mesh. Just wanted to put it on record. The coordinates are in the print. Thanks!

So I wanted to trial the new Normandy 2 map with friends who had it and I was disappointed to see low poly models. Turns out the trial gave me Normandy 1944.

There is a problem with permission to start from airstrips on the Normandy 2.0 map. Whenever I ask for permission to start (right after the taxi), I get permission from traffic control, so I enter the airstrip accordingly. But note - right after - the message is that you can't start (unable to clear takeoff), and after a while the message is that you can . I have the impression that the problem affects all airports in Normandy. I checked it a moment ago also on the Channel map and was ok there. If there is agreement, then when you enter the airstrip, there is no such message "unable to clear takeoff" even after the permission a moment before. Track included. test.trk

I've been following the progression of the DCS Normandy 2.0 expansion and the obvious excitement that goes along with it. With regards to the aerodromes on the map I am aware that there are going to be many more airfields to come as the map gets closer to completion but as of yet there is no mention to be seen or heard of this airfield. The reasons are numerous, firstly its a personal connection as I and my parents have lived in and the vicinity, although that's not a solid reason. RAF Hornchurch (which prior to WWII was a RFC aerodrome known as Sutton's Farm), alongside Biggin Hill, played a hugely vital role in the defence of London as it was the front line for the Luftwaffe's bombing raids. The airfield lived its prime during WWII when it was home to many well known squadrons such as 64sqn, 54sqn, 603 sqn, 74sqn and 222sqn to name a few. The most famous Spitfire flying today is MH434, which lived at Hornhurch, the MKII, P7350 was also based at Hornchurch, the list goes on how much went through Hornchurch but come 1962, the Air Ministry rendered it surplus to requirements and sold the land. Following the years after, the former airfield went through its brutal death of flattening and then gravel extracting which has made the airfield near unrecognisable today aside from a few structures here and there with the largest of those being the single dispersal pen being used as a car park to Hornchurch Country Park. Recently a museum has emerged to help preserve the history of the once great airfield while more of the physical airfield slowly disappears from memory as well as the visitor center which also represents some of the history there. In the digital world, RAF Hornchurch has had a couple attempts at being represented, namely IL-2 1946 (as a mod) and FSX (as a mod), so I feel it is only right for DCS to fill that spot to accurately represent the airfield and the surroundings obviously in its latter appearance in 1944. I imagine it will be a difficult task with the limited reference available however I will add photos and site plans (plus links) to assist. Should this get considered, however long it may be, many hours of flying will be made and I will have a strong heart for this community, apologies for the begging. Currently on the Normandy 2.0 map, the location of Hornchurch has a loose resemblance and there are clearly some modern day road layouts visible but as it is beta this is subject to change I imagine. Here are some pictures for your viewing plus a link to a half hour silent film of the airfield in 1942 https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-64-squadron-at-raf-station-hornchurch-1942-online I most gratefully hope to see this airfield added to the map at some stage to be the best representation of it to date as Im already most impressed with the current airfields as they appear currently. Thank you

I put a FARP in Normandy2.0 and it's in blue coalition. It remained neutral after entering the game, even though I placed a blue MBT on it. When it's placed within range of the airport, it changes back into the blue coalition. I tested FARP on other maps and it all worked.
