I'm going to preface this with a one-stop summary: This is a post arguing for already-made and available liveries for the Fw-190A8 to be added to DCS officially for broader usage to the playerbase in singleplayer and online, allowing other players to use and see them. Download options are available at the bottom of this post. Who: The skins are made by myself. I have been within the DCS community for a good number of years, since the Dogs of War server (when there was only the P51, Fw190D9, and Bf109K), and almost all of it was within the WWII side of DCS. Of mission makers and server runners today, like the 4YA Project Overlord server, one of the most reoccurring complaints from mission designers is that we do not have a historical livery selection for the Fw190. This has been noted by the player base of late. Having been around these complaints and criticisms for some time, within that context and that of the required time period and location, I've created a set of liveries for the Fw190A. What: We do not have a single historical and relevant livery for the Fw190A8 in DCS at this moment. Of all the chosen liveries from the Fw190A8's livery contest, none of them are historical, or relevant to France in 1944. Some of them do not have working bort numbers. A couple are Japanese Zero cosplays. And some are only relevant to earlier versions of the Anton. There is a big deficit in DCS for a historical livery set for the Anton 8. To attempt to remedy this, I have created liveries for JG26 and JG1 in their summer 1944 configuration. I'm proposing that Eagle Dynamics incorporate some of these liveries into DCS officially. This will give the simulator its first historical liveries for the Fw190A8. There are 6 liveries (different Staffeln) of the JG26 to choose from, and 4 from JG1. One may argue that an individual can install any liveries he may choose from the Userfiles and use those. However, this has some severe limitations: 1) Other players online cannot see your livery unless they, by pure coincidence, have that livery also installed. That is very rare. 2) Our most popular servers have the Liveries locked. They cannot be changed by the player, only the mission designer. So it benefits everyone more if these new liveries are added to the official DCS install. Then everyone has them as standard, and it can be used and seen by everyone. Historical Context: The Liveries: Here I have a livery for 2./JG26, 4./JG26 5./JG26, 6./JG26, 7./JG26, and 8./JG26, comprising of half of I./JG26, and all of II./JG26. For JG1, I have 1./JG1, 2./JG1, 3./JG1, and 6./JG1, consisting of most of I./JG1 and a Staffel from II./JG1. I made some special features for these liveries. 1) the camouflage tones, specifically RLM 70, were adjusted to be a more realistic darker color tone 2) each livery has a slightly different camouflage pattern on the fuselage. If you look closely you can see the differences between each livery 3) the bort numbers are custom drawn, and weathered to better suit the weather-worn nature of the aircraft First and second Gruppe, JG1. The JG1 identify themselves by their red tail band and unit emblem on the cowling. 1./JG1, which often included additional ID paint on the underside of the wing tips: 2./JG1: 3./JG1: 6./JG1: First and second Gruppe, JG26. The JG26 identify themselves by their yellow rudder, and the II./JG26 by the inclusion of a horizontal bar. The bar and ID numbers change depending on the Staffel within that Gruppe. 2./JG26: 4./JG26: 5./JG26: 6./JG26: 7./JG26: 8./JG26: Downloads: I have given these liveries a tiered choice to be included into DCS. A first top 5, and a second top 5. There are two options for how to download 1) Standard download. Each livery is individual, and individually includes all the textures it requires. This includes, due to the adjusted camouflage tones, the left and right wings. Disk space consumed for all 10 liveries: 666MB. Standard download HERE. 2) Reliant download. Each new livery is dependent on the 1./JG1 livery to acquire the left and right wing textures, instead of locally. This requires the 1./JG1 livery to be included, in order for other chosen liveries to work. However, this more smartly uses disk storage. Disk space consumed for all 10 liveries: 282MB. Reliant download HERE.

Hello all, I have been working on a new project for a few weeks now and absolutely loving the new map. The But, having real issues with the historical map date and allied airfields spattered all over Normandy. Its great for recreating scenarios around late June to August and the retreat of the Germans, though terrible for pre Normandy invasion and around June 6-7th. I feel like the airfields are a step back from the old map, yes it has more but severely limits plausible timeframes. Furthermore an obstacle I have run into is when creating a large map mission its increasingly difficult to populate most airfields with statics and eye candy as your going to hit your unit limit pretty damn fast and havent even started on the germans yet. The question: The info is probably out there but unable to find any info, do the devs have any plans in the future to remove or change shown airfields? Is this even possible in the dcs environment? Am happy to carry on and ignore this glaring issue with the map and live with it, but its frustrating trying to recreate an invasion scenario that is plausible, diving down on Omaha/Utah/Gold/Juno/Sword beech with premade allied airfields sat there in the background breaking the immersion. The old one was manageable, this one is over done. Also the performance is not equal to the old version, not even close imo.

I did find another topic on this, but it's 6 mos old and seemed like it's stagnant, worried I may not get a reply. I've had Normandy map since it released, I'm wanting to upgrade to the 2.0 map, but when I go to my cart to check out. It gives me a warning message saying. Warning! You already have these products from your cart: DCS: Normandy 2.0 Map Please go back and review added to cart products. Do I disregard the warning, go ahead and pay for it? Is it already installed but sitting dormant in my DCS root install?

On Normandy, the port en-Bessin is misnamed as "Les Moulins". Port-en-Bessin was a rather critical port to the allies, as it was the main fuel port for the allies (until Antwerp was taken), as a part of a ship-to-shore transfer system, known as TOMBOLA. Of major note, is that not only is Port-en-Bessin mislabeled on our map, but also mis-modeled as well.

The most recent update to Normandy was well received: DCS 2.7.4.9632 Open Beta - 21.07.2021 Would Ugra Media Consider adding the GTM: Normandy Texture enhancements by Barthek in the next update to the map? Suggestion 1: - Fall Season with trees would be nice Suggestion 2: - Winter Textures similar to Normandy Winter Textures by Revi possible to add in future as well?

This was a commonly used aircraft shelter type used in dispersal areas of Luftwaffe airfields. I'd expect to see it in Normandy 2.0, or at least a place-able asset of it through the mission editor. This was used on about half of the airfields used by the Luftwaffe, it's a MUST-have for Normandy 2.0. This is from page 314 of the JG26 War Diaries (part 2)null

Hey, Like I said in the title, I wanna buy mossie (my favourite plane lol) but at the same time, spending additional money on map + ww2 asset pack is too much for me. So, are there any possibilities (mostly multi servers, but not only) to play & enjoy ww2 stuff without huge expences? TIA

To destroy fuel or ammunition warehouses/storage on airfields, a 250kg bomb (500lb) direct hit does not sufficiently damage these buildings to destroy them. The minimum required is a 500kg, or a 1000lb bomb. For these types of buildings, especially considering they contain volitile ammunition or liquids, the minimum damage required is rather excessive. Something in the ballpark of perhaps a 100lb (50kg), perhaps 250lb, should be the minimum required to incapacitate these small supply buildings. 500lb bomb test.trk 1000lb bomb test.trk

Destroying the ammunition warehouses on airfields does not seem to affect bomb count or gun loading. Upon destroying all ammunition storage warehouses on an airfield, aircraft spawning in will still be fully loaded with ammunition, and be able to load bombs, weapons and other ordinance. On a positive note however, destroying the fuel storage will work correctly, and the aircraft will not be fueled or be able to be fueled. ammunition supply bug.trk ammunition supply bug2.trk
