Revan Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Is there any space sim out there that is anywhere close to the level of detail that DCS has? if so, then what is it? (I already know about Kerbal Space Program, I play it regularly and it is AWESOME!) DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!! Aircraft: A-10C, Ka-50, UH-1H, MiG-21, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T, TF-51
deaconjb Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Here's one on the Space Shuttle. Highly detailed but very complex. http://www.space-shuttle-mission.com/purchasing.html [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Izgud Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Orbiter is my space flight sim of choice. I highly recommend modding it up if you decide to check it out. Yurgon Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Check out Rogue System, it's described as "DCS in space". It's still in development. There was a crowdfunding campaign, which unfortunately didn't meet its goal. Also look at the Rogue System thread here in the forum. Michael Juliano (also known as Scott Juliano) is the game's developer and made several posts there.
shagrat Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Elite dangerous looks like it gets lot of detail with system modelling etc. Still in development. Currently alpha testing is going on. Look it up at YT. Revan Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 Orbiter looks cool as it is free, and i meant real life type sims, not something in the "far future". DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!! Aircraft: A-10C, Ka-50, UH-1H, MiG-21, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T, TF-51
VincentLaw Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ This game certainly has one of the best PR campaigns ever and I think it will be a good game, but firstly, it is not "out there" because you can't play it yet, and secondly, I think not having orbital dynamics automatically disqualifies you for "DCS level space sim." streakeagle Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Orbiter with Apollo as mentioned above easily matches/exceeds DCS in real life button pushing procedures. Ever booted up the computer in the Apollo module? If you want, you follow through every single button push/procedure required to launch. This makes performing a full ground start with the A-10C look exciting and quick, but truly teaches people what astronaut training really took: years of procedural training. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Blaze Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Space Shuttle Mission 2007 is the best for the Space Shuttle. Orbiter by far is the best for anything else.
