Hi all,

Here is a link where DCS WWII and BOS are compared. Very interesting to read and to see the state and the possible future of these sims.

I'm sure BOS are hitting targets, but as this article points out BOS is a game. I'm sure 10 years ago we would have described it as a sim but I think things have moved forward significantly, and I think that is due to DCS and their work. They have made us strive for more. As far as I'm aware and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong BOS will not have clickable cockpits. To develop a fully fledged aeroplane to the standard of DCS Mustang will take time I'm sure the FW190 will be of the same standard I just hope pressure to meet deadlines doesn't cause the team to drop standards with the remainder of flyables but certainly from the screens of the 3d models and cockpits it is looking good. The other thing is the flight models we know how complex it is to create an AFM and I don't think BOS will touch DCS for flight dynamics. If Ilya has made a mistake it's maybe some of the promises made perhaps he should not have promised such regular updates and it has left him open to criticism. Although I don't think it's right and I can see people's frustrations with the P51 keys I have been happy with regularity of the updates that ILya and the team has put out. As for the part about the BOS team not being happy with criticism what's that about. I think BOS looks fabulous but a lot is visual it probably does have a good graphics engine but when EDGE is released it will put DCS WW2 on par visually but DCS WW2 will eventually surpass BOS and not by a little I think it will not be a comparison, one will be a game and the other a sim.

What the article fails to point out is that 777 left Rise of Flight dead in the water when it migrated the whole staff over to BoS. RoF has possibly the dumbest AI in the history of flight sims (they canm't even land without crashing into hangars and trees), several of the aircraft perform nothing like their historical counterparts and never will be fixed, the in-game campaign has too many flaws to list here (a third party campaign available for free is much, much better), and the on line game play consists mostly of "Fly to the Big X on the Map and Tumble," much like IL2 dogfight arenas ( no thanks).

The article correctly points out the limit on objects in the RoF engine (BoS uses the same one) leaves the ground war Missing in Action and the atmosphere is very sterile.

Given the shoddy way 777 treated its RoF customers, leaving them with an unfinished game, it amazed me how many RoFers migrated to BoS. How anyone can be loyal to a developer that already has abandoned them once makes no sense to me. I refused to be treated that way and moved to DCS instead.

So far, I am having a great time flying the magnificently modeled P-51D in DCS World. I'm looking forward to the future in DCS WW2.

Interesting article but it left out some key points about 777 and included some critical points about DCS WW2 that already are obsolete. The opening of this forum goes a long, long way to solving the communication problem the article cites.

Besides, I would rather fly the late war planes DCS WW2 is offering than creaky Eastern Front planes in BoS any day.

Aloha.

Interesting article, objective and factual. This comment says it all

"My gosh someone who rights fair and balance about Oleg Maddox and Bos and RoF and 777 and DCS without being a fanboi or a hater? I wait for the ED/DCS and 777 crews to come here and spam you with angry 'how dare you' comment."

Guys, this isnt the place for comparison with any other sim, this is for news and updates for backers of DCS WWII. RRG developers are trying to bring us the best WWII sim they can, not anything more than that, I am sure other sim developers are doing the same. Threads like this just end badly, so that is the only reason for the lock. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me or any other moderators.
