Kybosh Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) I had a thought that the great minds of the DCS world community could perhaps compile a list of ideas for a new and improved "pro clip". I know some if not all know this infamous "pro clip" in question. Those that know that there is nothing certain in life but one thing and that is there is absolutely nothing pro with that clip. We have all this outstanding technology to power and enjoy our sims, cockpits, J sticks, throttles etc but the head movement immersion factor literally hinges on a 80's style visor sunglasses clip. I believe that Natural point can do better. What I purpose here is a list be compiled of ideas that can be manufactured, mass produced and sold on the open market that is well constructed, sturdy and above all reliable. Irregular programming Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 All they needed to do was to use proper plastic and not the cheapest possible. The trackir unit uses the same shitty plastic just to pry as much money out of their customers as possible.
McBlemmen Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Over the last few days , i've been hearing alot of complaints about the pro clip, i'm not sure why. People say its fragile? What are you doing with it? I've had mine for about 2 years now and i've never had any problems with it.

What are you doing with it? I've had mine for about 2 years now and i've never had any problems with it. I have owned a couple over the years. I snap it on my headset bridge and over time it seems to just wear out. All I am suggesting is perhaps an aluminum clip that is light weight and can be secured with a more snug fit. Or even the ir portion cover the entire headset bridge so you will not be harelipped to one line of site solving the bad snap effect caused by the site picture being broken. I would think this would also amplify the immersion factor by more natural head movement as opposed to more of the unnatural head movements that you are required to have when navigating the front office or having to rely on a third party config. Ranger79 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Very nice, my pro clip has been super-glue'd, taped, rewired, and is on its last leg. Love the ingenuity. Blaze Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Took a page out of a fellow forum-member's book, and re-inforced mine and attached the power for the Track Clip to my Logitech wireless headset with an on-off switch. Still going strong and I've had it since it first came out. i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. HiJack Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Mine is over 4 years an is still in same condition as it was new. Works every day and I would not mind if it died in a day or amonth now. It has done a great job.
Chromius Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 There was a problem with the Track IR4 pro clip. I think the first ones were good then they cheapened it up where the clip-on part met the stem. They made it beefier again about a year ago I think. I found a whole related thread on it a while back, where they were accepting returns for a while to make it right but that was a year ago. Funny because I bought mine roughly two years ago and it broke in the first two weeks after I received it and am I a person who has a three year old laptop that looks brand new, (I am careful and take care of my things.) I put my headset down over my joystick and it barely bumped the handle and snapped off. Funny this thread should come up as I was just getting into DCS, Clod and FSX again and decided to pull it out and ship it back and see if they will replace it. (warranty be damned) It was a bit better than the regular track clip.

My hope is that he Trackir guys would manufacture and decent proclip unit. Good luck on your return. I7 3770k, GTX 780ti Classified SLI, Asus Maximus Extreme V, 32GB G. Flying Penguin Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 On a related note, has anyone come up with a good way of making a removable clip for the DelanClip version? I've got one as my TrackClip Pro falls out of the swivel mount if I even look at it funny, but I've not yet figured out how to attach it to my favorite headphones without cable ties, which are slightly more permanent than I really want.
