Ok, but could you send the host your skin and he add it to his mission or something? if so what steps does he got through to add it, doesn't seem like it'd be too big a trick to add using JGSME, the host could later just remove it, after the missions? Ask the client to make his skin JGSME compliant? sorry, being the instigator...

Host must have your skin, and it must be set in the mission. As for adding and removing, that might be a bit of a pain to do every time. My hopes are that when we see some movement on the dedicated server, we will see more options to choose different things, like skins and such.

Really though, why would we want our own skin?, Bling, Bling? or perhaps some one could get in a host mission, see my craft and join up with me or keep any on me till in the air and shoot me down.. (like Red Baron..hahah, as if). If coms are lost, fuselage ID would be needed right? I guess I just don't see this a "priority". but what do I know..

 

Oh, and does not all the other clients and the host also have to have the skin on their system to see my skin? I think my Idea is a bad one...

I'm sorry If I spoiled the soup, I've hijacked the thread and I apologies, I tend to do that at family dinners to.

I was trying to prod someone to show us something I think I already know how to do now.

I have three victims that fly with me and my training missions. I'd like us to each have a skin. I simply arm us all with skins, my question is now answered,, Duh...

A public server with a bunch of clients would be a true hassle.

The question then in hopes to not be "that guy" perhaps could be a viable workaround that may not be so troublesome.

As one of the clients, do the other clients in that server have to have my skin to see me in all my bling bling? I then in turn need all their skins to see their bling? I was under the notion that only the host needed the skin.

Is there a way the host could read one of my LUA files perhaps via a mission script?, Viable if only host needs my skin. I don't what the host writing anything to my PC if I need others skins. we need some way to protect the host from crappy skins/script. wow, I keep finding bad Ideas. I'm swearing I seen some one do this in a mission, but it was an Invite mission with attendees already known, I didn't load any one else's skin to my PC I swear it, and it worked.

It is possible to select your skin in multiplayer, as long as the host allows for it using this tool.

 

The host can create an admin session, upload his list of skins, and then the clients join in and choose their own skins from his list (and edit their routes as required as well).

 

This also indicates that it should be easy for ED to implement since the livery folder names are included in the mission lua file.

Now, on the more pertinent issue: as currently architectured, DCS MP loads missions as a fixed package, and as currently architectured each aircraft texturing is defined by the mission. It is not impossible to fix, but you don't need Cartman. In fact, Cartman's authoritaa is sadly limited in this regard, because he's a fat little kid that hates cats and emulates Hitler. BEEFCAKE!

 

Remember that, when you are asking for this to have priority "over everything else", you are also asking for the issue that was the cause of our latest chat to be dropped. Because it's the MP team (probably) that would have to look into ensuring this works. (And then everyone else would have to dip in to make sure there's nothing breaking in SP due to the changes that were made.)
