FlightControl Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Vehicles on bridges A DCS world problem that is there now for about 3 years, is that vehicles are still promoted to take a rest on bridges when they drive under it... It would be highly appreciated that sceneries like the picture below become obscolete in sequent versions... Why is the development team not dealing with these kind of annoying issues? This is game breaking for Combined Arms players. I can't believe ED are closing their eyes for this!:doh:

(through trees, for miles) ? Bridges are not the single problem :smilewink: Let's have another playground that suits ground operations....

I put 2 armed Hummers on a road with an intention of sending them from A to B - no bridges or anything on the route - and they ended up chasing their tails on a riverbank about 5 miles from the starting point. I mean EDGE's coming and everything, yeah sure, but this is just ridiculous! I mean WTF - those buggers can't even follow a plain ROAD anymore??? :mad: The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

So, looking at the situation, we simply need to wait. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

Any bridges it encounters I change the path to off-road around these bridges where possible. Works for bridges over railroads and small rivers. Does not work really for broad rivers, as vehicles cannot cross them. .. so I design my vehicle movements as such that they never need to cross large rivers. .. Add a trigger to the mission 'on start' 'explosion' with height 6 volume 2000 for each trigger zone and blast them to hell!!! The AI takes a bit to circumvent the bridge debris, but the route works again... If timing is an issues adapt for about 30-40 seconds for each bridge. Did somebody try to remove the railway layer?
