26-J39 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Oh btw everyone just found out LNS are not gonna release until everyone hardens the **** up... Drink some concrete to settle the nerves.. Oh yeah LNS also mentioned also they are trying to revolve the world around some customers but unfortunately they are very sorry they can't keep up.. Yes joke people.
ff4life4 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 If your referring to me, I'm not expecting them to revolve around me. I'm not begging for anything. I'm just explaining how I, and other see the current situtation with what's happened. Things were supposed to happen, and then for some reason almost everything hasn't. If I did the same at my job, I wouldn't be employed anymore Edit: But also the fact that they stated "its done sent to ED for testing", means its done and out of their hands. Yet now it seems the contrary, and I don't understand what happened between now and then.
Muppetlord Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 .... Of course in truth i have NO IDEA what is going on :helpsmilie: No one does... :(
agentkgb Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Guys, what makes you think, that the integration, quality check and adjustments are taking only days or several weeks after the development is finished. We are talking about a full fledged DCS plane which is complex enough to test and adjust, that's how software industry works. What we know for sure from the posts, that these are the current activites going on right now. If you can't see the end of the tunnel, you won't set a release date (lessons learned from this forum). If you read between the lines what Cobra and Sith posted, it seems obvious that the delay has nothing to do with EDGE/1.3.0 whatever. It's just another track (additional work if you like) which should be also supported by the module, and it's the plane makers responsibility. That makes no sense from the business point of view from either side (LN-ED), to hold back the module once it is ready and accepted because of the new IG, see 1.2.9 and Sabre, but an intermediate patch also can be introduced for such purpose. So just sit back and relax, wait for the new videos and announcements, keep up your enthusiasm and hit the buy button once it is available :D - KGB - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

That is kinda how this feels and to dismiss it as simple impatience or ignorance of how software/modules are developed is not really helping.

Rangi Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Don't forget this is the first independent 3rd party project to be (nearly) released and the first from LN. So I am not at all surprised that LN cant be exactly sure how much time all the integration and finalising parts take. If you are feeling frustrated, try and see it from the developers point of view. I'm sure they are not holding it back just to spite us. From what we have seen I'm sure the wait will be worth it. But from a consumer standpoint its very frustrating going from an end of June release, to now being delayed with no estimate of the release. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.

To be honest, I am as eager as anyone to fly the MiG, but I fail to see how putting pressure on Leatherneck through all these posts is helping... None of us (as far as I know) is 8 year old so we should be able to manage our expectations a bit better...
ff4life4 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Well I don't think I'm being too unrealistic at this point. It was done and sent to ED, which I understood as imminent releaee, and now it's delayed again with lots of work to be done. The only thing I can speculate is that it failed EDs internal test and they will be big fixing for weeks to come. Pure speculation. But to me it's the only thing that makes sense

I feel your pain, we are in the same shoes :) I am waiting for this module since years as an indiegogo backer. Still, there's not much we can do at this time, and bugging the developers won't help either. The only reason I'm not really wondering about the delays, that I work close to software development, so it is business as usual. Also the Mig-21 in it's current state is much more (at least I think) what was mentioned in the original plans. I'm referring to the complete code migration and exterior/interior overhaul. - KGB - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

None of us (as far as I know) is 8 year old so we should be able to manage our expectations a bit better... We're not putting pressure on them...Not deliberately anyway. I try not to at least. By all means they can take their time, I've waited two years, I can wait some more. I just lurk around and see what people have to say while I wait for updates from Cobra

The only thing I can speculate is that it failed EDs internal test and they will be big fixing for weeks to come. Pure speculation. But to me it's the only thing that makes sense WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR INFO FROM!?!?!? Four very simple facts, which have been repeated multiple times; 1) Some updating needed to be done for 1.3.0, in terms of art assets. Nearly complete. 2) The aircraft is currently undergoing iterative external and internal testing (including ED), and the AI package is being integrated into Core DCSW. 3) No big bugs have been found, yet. Very unlikely as we have been testing at EVERY STEP of implementation. 4) We don't know when we will release, or on which core version of DCS World. Essentially, the exact same thing we had a week ago. And two weeks ago. We're working on it, night and day. And now we're even catching flak from various individuals for not sending out promo copies to selected persons. It's absolutely astounding that we can be afforded no flexibility because of course, in software development, anything said can't change and is etched in stone. God forbid we made a decision to hold off on preview copies for previewers because we felt it does not properly represent the product! I think I'm going to take a page out of a veteran's playbook and add a much needed line to my signature. zaelu Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I'll wait... no problem. Is true that I wanted it one year ago but... nah... understandable delays and maybe the devs being bind by NDA play a bit of riddle games here and there. To keep people entertain/teased. I'll buy it. P.S. Isn't it summer now? Beaches... Sun... Mountains... Riding... :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least

Scrim Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I might've missed it, but what's the reason behind the delay? Eagerly awaiting your beautiful module's release :) 1

upupandaway Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 It's absolutely astounding that we can be afforded no flexibility because of course, in software development, anything said can't change and is etched in stone. I do very much disagree. What I´d like to say is that despite the workload and other hardship on your side, you guys have had a very flexible and supporting fan base on this forum. Please consider what we repeatedly have been forced to accept during the development of this module (and not only that) before saying something like this. I simply can´t stand those killer/ knockout arguments. Just as a side note: I would consider the phrase "will release May-June 2014" (without any further explanatory comment) as the confirmation of a firm release date/window. There is no implicit relativation of this date/time frame within the context of this statement. Perhaps it was an oversight... But most importantly, just take all the time you need to finish the module - I want nothing more than that and I respect your work. I just feel that I needed to say this. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!

I agree, my statement was too harsh, but I'll let it stand as editing it in hindsight is poor form. The community is, in general, very supportive. I have no issues with criticism or individuals who criticize us, none at all. I really enjoy being open and honest with the community, but at times my words are dissected and used against me, when the intention was to inform you as well as possible, given the situation at that particular moment in time. Sidenote: Yes, it was an oversight. We wanted something more specific than "Q2 or Q3", and went for May-June as a guesstimate. I will edit our site as soon as I possibly can. Scrim Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) No, actually missed out on when it went from "imminent release" to "indefinite delay". Edit: That's how I interpreted the latest turn of events. If there's no mentionable delay in release I have misunderstood. Edited July 15, 2014 by Scrim
mig29movt Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Don't spend too much time on thinking bout them whiners, they're aswell whining in the VEAO, EDGE Nevada and Belsimtek sub-forums. And as said above that's exactly why EDs communication evolved to what it is now... The same thing years ago But anyway I would REALLY appreciate a locked thread with all the coming official statements, the best would be if you'd quote questions and answer them there, because else everybody has to go through this chit-chat and whining. I would have missed a LOT of interesting facts (like the armament screenshots) if I wouldn't spend an hour every day checking this forum...
