Buckeye Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I just installed it this morning, no FPS difference on my R9 280x, but I haven't dug into anything past that. Mustang Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I've read many reports stating there's little difference between this 14.7 and the previous 14.6 RC2, just some changes in CCC and something to do with a particular monitor brand fix.
SkateZilla Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Odd, this didnt pop up in my RSS Feed, and it was released on the 9th. http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx Feature Highlights of the AMD Catalyst™ 14.7 RC Driver for Windows Includes all improvements found in the AMD Catalyst™ 14.6 RC driver AMD CrossFire™ and AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics profile update for Plants vs. Zombies Assassin's Creed IV - improved CrossFire scaling (3840x2160 High Settings) up to 93% Collaboration with AOC has identified non-standard display timings as the root cause of 60Hz SST flickering exhibited by the AOC U2868PQU panel on certain AMD Radeon™ graphics cards. A software workaround has been implemented in AMD Catalyst 14.7 RC driver to resolve the display timing issues with this display. Users are further encouraged to obtain newer display firmware from AOC that will resolve flickering at its origin. Users are additionally advised to utilize DisplayPort-certified cables to ensure the integrity of the DisplayPort data connection. HiJack Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 It may be just a fix on my computer but I just gained 20 fps on mine. I have upgraded drivers for the last couple of AMD versions and have just used the same settings without changing anything. I made a documentation of what my settings were and went to set all to "default" on the Gaming tab of the AMD Catalyst Control Center. After changing the settings to my documented settings I had 20 frames more on the same mission! It may not be like this for you all and I did not take any log or screenshots but just wanted to share. Check it out.
SkateZilla Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 you mighta had something over-riding or adding on top of the application settings. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Mustang Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 you mighta had something over-riding or adding on top of the application settings. Yep, forcing something like x8 or x16 AF in CCC can have a very bad effect on framerates in DCS.
remon Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Yep, forcing something like x8 or x16 AF in CCC can have a very bad effect on framerates in DCS. I can't believe that any modern machine or video game can have problems with AF. Did you mean AA?
SkateZilla Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the 32 and 64 bit dx9 dlls are for nVidia's Drivers? I've been injecting AMD's DLLs, for the last year or so, and I have another system with an nVidia card, but I want to play around with injecting DLLs too. (And some users on SimHQ were asking me about it). Also, When DCS Goes DX11, I think we have to start using different DLLs for AMD Anyway. fearlessfrog Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I just updated some hardware due to one of my kids PC's needing to be upgraded, and just tried the AMD 14.7 beta drivers - and I'm pretty pleased. 1080p, everything High, HDR, i5 4690k@4.5 on water cooling, R9 290 4GB, SSD. Took a run in the Sabre and couldn't get a FPS less than 80FPS (even 100ft through airports, cities). Bring on EDGE I guess, but really happy with how DCS is performing on this hardware combo. ~~~ http://www.mudspike.com

fearlessfrog Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Quite nice system there, sounds like it's set up great. Thanks - my kids are older so we do the 'generation shuffle' at upgrade time and the youngest gets the worse bits. I got the newer i5 and a Z97X motherboard for $380 and the R9 for about the same, so I've had worse wallet dents :) One thing I didn't expect is that with a higher consistent framerate then things are certainly much easier to fly. Just tried the Huey and the Mustang and although more of a framerate hit than the sabre in air (~60fps in airports) it seemed a huge improvement of the 'feel' of controlled flight. ~~~ http://www.mudspike.com
txmtb Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I imagine it would be. Waiting for Edge to see what it brings with it, then making the GPU switch.
