Hello group,

would like to hear some feedback. I'm currently using a 24" Samsung LCD, 1920 x 1080 for my primary display, and an Acer 20" for the Helios and TM Cougar extracts.

I'd really like a bigger primary display. Looking at maybe a 32" LCD/LED 1080p, 120hz TV vs. a 27" Monitor (2560x1440).

My eyes aren't as good as they used to be. So I'm figuring a good, solid TV might be something to go with.

I was curious to hear what LCD/LED's folks are using for their primary displays. Sure, a 4K would be nice, but I don't want to pay that price. Is a 120hz a must for the TV? what else should I look for?

I own all of the DCS modules, including the F-86 and forthcoming Dora. I also fly Cliffs of Dover, Battle of Stalingrad, and BMS Falcon.

My Rig spec's are noted in my sig.

TIA,

-Jav

Thanks bro, I saw that in your signature. I'll take a peek at it.

I am using a 42" Panasonic plasma TV.

Plasma technology have the lowest latency possible, only CRTs are better from this point of view. There are also some drawbacks regarding mostly to power consumption. And , if we are talking plasma TV, this means Panasonic only.

I'm using a 47" LG with HDMI (1920x1080) and couldn't be happier. Picture looks great and you can see targets you can't see on smaller monitors.

Agreed. One of these days I am going to drag some gear into the living room and hook DCS to the 65" LG just for grins. :D

Dude, I totally agree with Panasonic Plasma TV's! I have 58" as my primary in the living room, and a 42" in the bedroom.

I didn't even think of going Plasma... But you noted, it has the lowest latency, I'm gonna take a look. Thanks!

You guys have got me sold! I'm looking about the 'net, for the best deal. I'll go with a 40"/42".

Plasma is the best for a TV as a PC monitor? I'm not so worried about the power, as that I have Solar power for my home. I can feel a little better about my "sim guilt". :)

Heat can be an issue if you go with plasma or a non-LED display. Before I switched to LED backlighting, my gaming room was about 10f hotter than the rest of the house. It's still a little warm but not sweat running down the butt crack warm.

good point, I live in AZ. I've converted my 5th bedroom into my "computer room". Plasma's do love to generate the heat.

I'm thinking maybe I move my 42" Panasonic from my bedroom, to the computer room, and then replace the bedroom unit with something newer... Just have to make the switch before Wifey notices it... :)

Heat generated by plasma is excellent during winter nights :D.

Anyway new plasma models are not so hot as they used to be. My 2011 model is 160W. Some older models used to have 500W.. well that ones were indeed very hot.

The new 120Hz TV for the bedroom will be easier on the eyes which, in turn, will lead to a better night's sleep. ;)

The bedroom is for 2 things and neither one of those requires a TV if done correctly:)
