javelina1 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hello group, would like to hear some feedback. I'm currently using a 24" Samsung LCD, 1920 x 1080 for my primary display, and an Acer 20" for the Helios and TM Cougar extracts. I'd really like a bigger primary display. Looking at maybe a 32" LCD/LED 1080p, 120hz TV vs. a 27" Monitor (2560x1440). My eyes aren't as good as they used to be. So I'm figuring a good, solid TV might be something to go with. I was curious to hear what LCD/LED's folks are using for their primary displays. Sure, a 4K would be nice, but I don't want to pay that price. Is a 120hz a must for the TV? what else should I look for? I own all of the DCS modules, including the F-86 and forthcoming Dora. I also fly Cliffs of Dover, Battle of Stalingrad, and BMS Falcon. My Rig spec's are noted in my sig. cichlidfan Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I've been using this 40" Samsung for about 3 months now and I am quite happy with it. I still prefer my 27" 1440p Dell monitor in many ways but I wanted the size. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I94ISS0/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Abburo Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I am using a 42" Panasonic plasma TV. Plasma technology have the lowest latency possible, only CRTs are better from this point of view. Sabre-TLA Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I'm using a 47" LG with HDMI (1920x1080) and couldn't be happier. Picture looks great and you can see targets you can't see on smaller monitors. Once you go big you never go back. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates

I have 58" as my primary in the living room, and a 42" in the bedroom. I didn't even think of going Plasma... But you noted, it has the lowest latency, I'm gonna take a look. Thanks! javelina1 Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Once you go big you never go back. You guys have got me sold! I'm looking about the 'net, for the best deal. I'll go with a 40"/42". Plasma is the best for a TV as a PC monitor? I'm not so worried about the power, as that I have Solar power for my home. Thick8 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Heat can be an issue if you go with plasma or a non-LED display. Before I switched to LED backlighting, my gaming room was about 10f hotter than the rest of the house. It's still a little warm but not sweat running down the butt crack warm. I'm thinking maybe I move my 42" Panasonic from my bedroom, to the computer room, and then replace the bedroom unit with something newer...
