chris2802 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Does anybody know of any guides or have any tips for landing a plane with no chutes, air brakes or flaps? tried to land the other day and just went piling off the end of the runway. Is it possible to land with no flaps and just wheel brakes? On the subject, I watched my wingman land the other day with his tail shot to pieces, whole chute assembly was shot off, but when he landed, his chute deployed...hmmm Chris
SuperKungFu Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 yea its fairly easy. Just basically watch your speed. Speed is the main reason you have to deploy brakes, flaps, and chutes. Heck sometime i land with no wings at all lol. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Gazehound Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Touch town at around 300km/h and your ok since your nosewheel will slow you once you are down. If you are having trouble and running out of RW, use rudder to swerve around - that slows you down a lot and makes it a longer journey ;). VVS504 Red Hammers
peterj Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Set it slow and early ;) The Su-25/t probably has the worst brakes. In my 20m/s crosswind landings iv'e sat it early but fast at 350 km/h, without the airbrakes you got some issues under those circumstances.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 ...and pick a long runway if you can (D'Oh obvious!) Maykop at 3200m is the longest in the Caucasus, Simpheropol at 3900m plus Dzhankoy, Krasnoyvardenskoye, Oktyabrskoye all at 3500m, are the longest in the Crimea. hitman Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 heres a dumb question...is it a feature of most aircraft to manually lower the gear, regardless of whats up and down? and if its possible to lower 1 gear at a time in any aircraft particular aircraft around?
Force_Feedback Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 AFAIK, no aircraft in lomac is able to low one gear strut at a time, but you can accomplish that on the su-25(t) by making a hard two-gear landing (left main and front wheel for example), after that you'll be able to retract your right gear, and make a nice two-wheeled landing, and end up in the dirt. Landing the 25t with trimmed wings is fun too, too bad you can't lower the gear for some reason. it is fun to fly the 25t with only the rudder and horizontal stabs working. Anyway, I'm the crashmaster with the su-25t, whenever I play lomac it always involves damaging the su-25t, either by missile fire or hard landings or gear-up landings. Too bad we can't blow the gear down, which could be handy when you miss the wing sections with the ailerons. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
caponi Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 you can also land without gear .... it looks very nice if transmit spray :) too much ...
Pilotasso Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 The other day I had a wing clipped off by a missile hit...but no luck LOL You cant reproduce the wingless landing in LOMAC. Its scripted to spin uncontolalbly with any pitch imput you make. .
dynamocl Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I was online in an A-10, suffered two SAM hits, very badly damaged. One engine out, leaking fuel, hydralics and HUD gone. Dodgey aileron - I needed alomst full left stick to remain straight, and I assume the rudder had gone since no input on the pedals made a difference. I fought the plane all the way back to within 5 miles of home plate, over mountians and manageing to remain out of sight frmo enemy fighters. Just decalred finals, got locked up. Buddy Spike I type about 3 times, "Friendly" I typed twice. The F-15 unlocked me. Continued to airfield, 3 seconds later "BOOM", that F-15 hit me with a sidewinder. So the 8 minute challenge I flew back to base (and was looking forwards to an interesting landing) was ruined by some fool in an Eagle, who simply declared, "OOPS I just hit a friendly". I was a little pi$$ed, but crap happens. (don't worry, I have remembered your name - you got my twice that mission).
anivanov Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 You cant reproduce the wingless landing in LOMAC. Its scripted to spin uncontolalbly with any pitch imput you make. i made it. with a lot of trimming
Gazehound Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Ive made it down with both wings clipped & on fire in a flanker, after an engagement in which I went a little too close to a mountain peak :D. You can fly quite well until you start to slow down. The funny thing was I made it down without being able to lower gear, ground to a halt in a shower of sparks, and some guy says 'woah no gear landing.....woah no wings either !' VVS504 Red Hammers
Witchking Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 lol....my hyperlobby session last weekend was fun....head on into a shilka and lol...both engines burning..or couple of times one engine burning, hydrolics failure and brakes are stuck in on position. That was fun. most of the times though one engine failure is no biggy...just trim the rudder and watch ur speed and you are good enough to continue on your mission. :) WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
