Sorry about the morbid theme of this thread, but I felt it was time to rattle the bones of that skeleton in the closet :)

The pilot that I have created has the status of "Dead" (could have posted references to Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" sketch, but I resist the temptation :) ), probably because I crashed while flying one of the training missions, or one of the single player missions that come with the game.

While flying the Su-25 campaign I still used my "dead" pilot (probably scared my wingman to death). Since I managed to complete the campaign and being dead at the same time (the force is strong with this one...), I am wondering about the importance of my status in this game.

The worst thing is that my statistics don't seem to be updated, and that is probably because of me being dead. I finished the beforementioned campaign, and destroyed lots of tanks, buildings and the like, but the statistics doesn't show this. I have been told not to put too much faith into statistics, but I think this is different :)

Is there any way of returning my status to "Alive", or do I have to create a new pilot each time I decide to try to catch a SAM missile with open arms (Hi Sam, want to be my new friend?)?

I want to get away, I wanna fly away.

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

That would be correct and the primary reason for keeping your pilot's status listed as "1".

Look in the PilotLogBook folder for "Pilots.xml". Change your dead pilot's status from "0" to "1". Resurrection!

Wow, if it only were that easy in RL :) Open Greenies.xml. Change the item "Greenies_run_over_by_a_bus" from "0" to "1". Easy-peasy!

I will try updating the Pilots.xml when I get home from work.

Nope, its actually a very good idea, why hide your logbook? Whats the point in having one if you're the only one who reads it!:D When ever I use F4AF with other people I can tell what type of progress they have acheived since I last flew with them. You would be surprised at some of the effort people put into flight sims and the amount of statistics that can be seen.(this would be good for TK) Besides quite a few people here use F4:cool: .

You would have to change from 1 to 0 or else the bus would keep running over you :p

Oh by the way, Gunja! I remember all those games on your signature. God I miss them! Is there anywhere possible to play them again? Is there some emulation software that works? It really brought back alot of good memories when I saw that :)

OT:

@ Odin

I kind of avoid emulators (I never got one to work) but i still got my old Amiga500 :)

If you would run those games now, you'd say " omg, did i realy enjoy this so much?". They look horible now and those 5-10 fps make me laugh out loud. That proves how important it was to have imagination which would step in when there was a lack of bits, kilobyts and megahertz.

But still, it is nice to remember them from time to time.

Take a look at this realy cool site http://www.migman.com/ It is a flight sim museum :) Click decades on the top banner 1980's, 90's and 2000 and chose between combat and civil games (sims?). hehe

I installed and played my old Amiga games on the amiga emulator WinUAE. I still have my old Amiga 500, and I take it out now and again. And yes, I still have a diskette with F/A-18 Interceptor. God, I loved that game at the end of the eighties and the first years of the nineties. It's crasy to think back and compare those games with the ones we play now.

Did someone mention fps? Was that invented back in those days? :D

Yea bro I would have to agree with you totally its a good idea man. I was just havin some fun thats all. Im sure the Devs and Testers get a kick out of reading our suggestions and posts that all start to sound the same after a while im sure.

(Example Tex really didnt say this)

TexVBA#6 wrote: Gee I really love this sim but its just missing blah blah blah dynamic campaign blah blah blah F15 has bugs blah blah and if they would just put the F18 and the F14 in blah blah blah.

(deep breath) Blah blah blah blah I really wish i could blah blah blah blah and they forgot to blah blah blah. I really dont like the add on of a helicopter blah blah blah they havent fixed blah blah.

Please dont take this post the wrong way man I totally see what you are saying I would love to see other peoples log books too and I also see how this might be funny to a Dev or Tester when they read our post and see this Tex guy joking around about something of this nature. I could only hope that this post would make them laugh a little bit as im sure their work is stressful enough. I just want to keep the morale up bro they work real hard at this stuff.;)

I agree. I want logbook data updating with no relation with dead or live

In Falcon's updating system, accumulating my score is quite interesting.

Espacially by match playing whenever I have some rest time...
