Izgud Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) It's quite beautiful! Thank you. EDIT: Perhaps a minor oversight? Spotted a few seams like this: http://i.imgur.com/ON5FGa5.png Edited November 9, 2014 by Izgud
9.JG27 DavidRed Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 yes it really is a superb mod...unfortunately its the only terrain mod where i notice a performance decrease. with other terrain mods i even notice an improvement over the stock terrain.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I really love it! THe framerate drop was hardly noticable for me. Fantastic stuff!
Aginor Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Yeah, there is a drop, but for me it isn't much, some 3-4 FPS or so. A bit more if I have the mirrors on. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Installed them both. Summer and autumn working fine, but winter is giving me terrible noise/movement in the textures.... Also; in winter, the close grass rendering still appears snowless/summer style.

Also; in winter, the close grass rendering still appears snowless/summer style. The shimmering noise/movement problem can be fixed by adding mipmaps to the texture, and the texture can also be made monochrome so it suits all seasons - i have already tried these methods and they work very very nicely (edited noise_small.bmp.dds using GIMP)

I've sent a PM to T.Jacob containing a link to the texture i edited, he can take a look at it and decide if it's good enough to add to this thread

Mustang Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Good stuff! Hoping to see it included! Here's a couple of examples of the texture with edits, because the noise texture is monochrome it adapts to whatever colour is rendered on the terrain - textures are also looking 10x better with the mipmaps with NO texture shimmering or with what i call 'swimming' at all. T. Jacob Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Sorry for the delay respond. Mustang can publish your version if you want in this thread, or a new one. I agree with the contribution. Highwayman-Ed also told me something similar, desaturate the texture to fit better. The noise_small texture is painted by the noise texture "big" for this reason, the original texture is grayscale. Nevertheless still in RGB, the texture noise_small remains altered for a larger texture, but less so. I decided to do it that way at first, but I'll edit an option with desaturated areas, and other areas in RGB, so that not all the land is altered for the season. "Not at all floors winter there is snow" I also try to correct mipmapping winter season, I thought it had already corrected before publishing. I missed that detail. Those who have had problems with fps, must be in the configuration of the options or the visual range. May solve your problem, removing changes in lua file. Try again using the original and see if the fps improve. In any case, I will leave the texture smaller. Sorry for inconvenience, it is not easy to make everyone happy, but we always try. Greetings to all and thanks for the feedback

T. Jacob Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Mixed version. Large areas in grayscale with small areas in rgb. [ 4k ] Example Winter - Autumn: I am not convinced with the winter but I like how it is in autumn Edited March 4, 2015 by T. Jacob

Jacob, here is a link to the textures that i edited if anyone wants to try them http://www.mediafire.com/download/6hqlp0fzr7kicc2/Enhanced_Grass_Texture_Mustang_Edit.rar awesome mustang!looks way better now without the shimmering...definitely the best texture mod so far in my view. is there any logical reason why with this adjustment of the mod, my performance is back up? aceviper Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Congratulations to all involved in making the best looking terrain mod. T.Jacob..Mustang....Toby....HighwaymanEd.....Rocky. The reality and immersion is increased greatly and makes plain flying a pleasure. This collection is that good you guys deserve to be paid for this. Another plus is my framerate seems to have gone smooth...no big spikes looking up and generally higher in all directions and altitudes. ps...T@ker take note..the community spirit:pilotfly: Edited November 10, 2014 by aceviper
T. Jacob Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Desaturated version -60 (by Highwayman-Ed) [ 4k ] I like this version. What do you think about that? Keep in mind that depending on what texture used for the field. The big noise. It also depends on what area are watching, some areas of snow will be very gray if the texture is completely gray, but other areas with green spots look better. I will post the desaturated version -60. (4k and 8k). Edited March 4, 2015 by T. Jacob

MacEwan Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Looking very nice, good job and thanks to everyone involved in making this. Can't wait to try this out when I get home later. Im confused about something though; what is the difference between the only terrain texture and the only grass texture? Should they be used together or separately?

You can use them together or separately, up to you. If you already use a mod terrain you can use only the texture of the grass. :)

I gotta say however that I'm getting overwhelmed keeping up. I'm using JSGME and got all these contributors (T.Jacob..Mustang....Toby....HighwaymanEd.....Rocky) in my game which is exclusively DCS Huey. I would like to make sure I'm using as many of these mods without redundancy or conflict. I'm not lazy and am doing my homework but I would greatly appreciate a comprehensive listing of these related works that that I can run together to optimize their effectiveness.
