Thank for this, good news. We don't ask for the moon, just a little whistle to remember us we are flying a Messerschmitt.
Thumper1606688436 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Well after carefull analysis ;) I would say the only sound files that could do with some extra work are :- 1) PropIn4.wav 2) ExIn4.wav The sound of PropIn4 is too flat and the engine noise is nearly drowned out by the wind noise. In fact sound files PropIn1 & 2 feature no engine noise and the hiss is nearly as loud as the engine noise of PropIn4. The engine should be more audible than the wind and needs more life, better reverb/bass. Again ExIn4 is a bit too flat sounding although the audible sound level is much better than PropIn4. I think the sound everyone is missing though is what you only hear externally during flybys. Example in the video below at 3:08. I'm not sure if this can be simulated in DCS as a sound file does not exist specifically for flyby.

Charly_Owl Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 At high engine revs, the whine is very very hard to hear, but I noticed that at low engine revs it's perfectly audible from the outside. The whine IS there. I think it's mostly a matter of changing the volume of certain files at certain engine regimes. RNeves Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Engine Sound... I know this is going to sound stupid.... But despite the fact that the physics are great for a beta version, i got a bit disappointed with the engine sounds... For me, this is the best sounding aircraft from the WWII era, the engine itself, with the whine coming from the supercharger are awesome on the real model, but in the game, they are a little meh.... This video shows the sound differences that i'm talking about: don't know if anyone agrees, but that's what i think... Raven68 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I do agree with you on this. To me the whine was very iconic and it really stood out. I do believe there has been some discussion on this topic already and since it is in the beta phase I'm sure it's being worked on still. cpt.miller Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) Let´s make one thing clear... the sound is ok but has !nothing! to do with a real 109. When you hit F2 it sounds like an old german school bus Edited December 5, 2014 by cpt.miller
Conroy Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Just to make it clear again, and this is dedicated to the Sound Engineer: we are talking about the best Bf-109 ever seen in a flight sim, and the same will be for the Spitfire, be sure. Take care of this. This K4 is STUNNING! As said above people don't ask for the moon, but the Daimler- Merlin sounds must me almost perfect. We are talking about the WW2 aviation icons: 109 and Spitfire. Ferrari with the sound of a motorcycle will never be a Ferrari, even if the simulation is almost perfect in all aspects.
OnlyforDCS Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I can't view the vidoes at work but Ill check the youtube videos when I get home. What exactly is wrong with the sound? If its you are talking about the high pitched Messerschmidt signature 'whine' you have to realize that this sounds very different from the cockpit. I agree, after watching all these vids and such, the whine can be heard, but not on a consistent basis... Honestly ED's sounds, cranked on my speakers sounds pretty good to me... sure different than some of the vids BUT most of these vids are different from each other... ED Team NineLine Posted December 5, 2014 ED Team Posted December 5, 2014 Listen to the fly past though. Amazing. And doesn't sound like the DCS k4. As I said, ED is looking at the sounds, but a recoding on a camera of unknown quality is different than a clean recording of the raw sounds.
