SkateZilla Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 My hockey camps took over Boy Scouts time when I turned 16, otherwise I likely would have made Eagle Scout. Random Stuff happens and when I know how to deal with it, people ask where I learned this and that, and I tell them I was in the Boy Scouts. They look at me like "I dont believe you". Every time. Very interesting how things work out like that! Come fly with me, lets fly, lets fly away! -Sinatra [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Specs: Lenovo Y50 with GTX 860m (2GB), i7 4700HQ 2.4GHz, 8GB Ram. BHawthorne Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) I believe I made it to Star and AO Ordeal membership levels. Lost interest in in high school when football took priority. 20 years later I'm in the Civil Air Patrol now as a senior member. As an adult, CAP appeals to some of the same interests I had in Boy Scouts. Lots of skill overlap between Boy Scouts and CAP Ground Team and Urban Direction Finding specialties. Revelation Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I made it to Life. I joined Boy Scouts too late to have enough time to make Eagle. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
Buzzles Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Never got further than Cub Scout as there wasn't a local Scout group to progress to. Shame really, as looking back the practical skills I learnt as a Cub have been valuable, namely map reading, and it would have been nice to take them further. Wish I could remember all the knots though, the only one I can do without thinking is a square/reef, although I roughly remember how to do a slip and a clove hitch. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Revan Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I am a Star scout. High school became more important than Boy Scouts, but I still regularly attend meetings at one of our local venture crews. and yes, I too have gotten that same response when I tell people that I learned something from Boy Scouts. Alicatt Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 was in the Cubs and the Scouts until I was about 14 when I left and joined the Air Training Corps as I wanted to be a pilot in the RAF. My mother was also in the Scouts, when she retired from them she was County Commissioner for Caithness, that was in the mid 70s, she had been in the Scouts from before WW2 Sons of Dogs, Come Eat Flesh Clan Cameron
