Vyrtuoz Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 If I’m not mistaken, the G force displayed in Tacview for missiles is: missile_g_force = dv / dt / G Unlike for aircrafts, it is independent from the missile orientation. And it is indeed quite huge during the initial phase of a missile flight. This is *not* a normal force perceived “vertically” by the pilot (if one was inside the missile), this is the total absolute acceleration in all directions. Is it correct for you or are you looking for another kind of data?
GGTharos Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) We're looking for the normal force - the force component perpendicular to the missile's axis. It's direction around that axis isn't important, like it is with a human pilot. Perhaps in other words, we're looking for the g-force component along the instantaneous lift vector, which is oriented to point inside the turn that the missile is pulling. The point is that we want the turning component of the force - the total force is nice to know, but we want to exclude the axial acceleration/deceleration component due to rocket motor thrust. Drag too, in the deceleration phase, but drag is not as big a component, where thrust can provide more than 15g. Vyrtuoz Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Understood! I’m going to switch missiles Gs to the same formula as for planes. Other formulas will be available later (again) in Tacview 2.0.

Vyrtuoz Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 I've just added the bank angle (roll) to Tacview 1.4 HUD. It looks like the F-16 one, combined with G force. The final result looks quite cool for both dogfight and navigation. Or perhaps more vitally, bank angle? :)

*Rage* Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Is there a possibility that tacview could be incorporated into DCS such that we dont need to rerun tracks in servers which disallow exports? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

HiJack Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Is there a possibility that tacview could be incorporated into DCS such that we dont need to rerun tracks in servers which disallow exports? Problem is that you can still join a server and stay in the spectator lounge for a while and then exit and have view of the battlefield. You can today also but replaying the mission to create the .acmi file with all the information will delay you enough to not now the situation that easily. By denying the export you protect the pilots that want it the pro way. Not that it gains any advantage at all but if you can get the export quickly you can track selected pilots. You still have to defeat the pilot anyway ;) On the TAW.NET dedicated public server we run an open export so Tacview will work all the time. Try it out

Hoggorm Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Problem is that you can still join a server and stay in the spectator lounge for a while and then exit and have view of the battlefield. I can understand that this might happen from time to time, but is the problem really that widespread so that servers basically no longer can allow Tacview recording? I can just not understand that there is so much cheating going on that Tacview must be denied. One or two, sometimes and apparently yes, but I mean: do people, and so many people per mission and server really bother doing what you describe every time so that it really is a problem for all the others? And add the fact that you actually learn a lot by watching the Tacview recording afterwards. I’m just really disappointed that so few servers allow Tacview recording these days…
*Rage* Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Im sure they could work in a 30 min delay or so. The idea is convert directly to tacview so that we wouldnt have the hassle of rerunning long tracks and also to prevent track corruption leading to nonsense acmis. I guess the other difficulty would be to make the time delay cheat proof. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

aaron886 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 to prevent track corruption leading to nonsense acmis. Can't put that on Vyrtuoz, that's an ED problem not a Vyrtuoz problem. He's doing what he can to avoid helping cheaters. If we want tracks that don't corrupt or tracks that have more utility within DCS, we should be asking ED to work on that.
*Rage* Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 ^^ Of course im not putting that on Vyrtuoz. Im just explaining the issue. ED have said before the tracks are often unreliable. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

Hoggorm Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I understand that when a server do not allow Tacview recording, you can play back a record file done by DCS itself to get the recording anyway? I've tried this a few times now without any luck. Maybe I’m doing it wrong? In the DCS main menu I click on Playback and select the latest .trk file. These files, when loaded, only shows the F10 map however. Nothing happens at all. Any ideas? Thank you.

FLANKERATOR Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Hi Virtuoz, Great work with the new release! Would it be possible to keep displaying the source of the fired weapon as I noticed it's not shown anymore in the new version. Label shows only name of the missile and not who fired it. In large scale battles, it gets a bit messy when there are a bunch of missiles flying around and tricky to keep track of who fired what. Another small request you could put on the wishlist is to implement the ability to filter the Flight Log by type of event; for instance to show only 'Has been destoyed' type. Thanks for the great work. S! Edited May 31, 2015 by FLANKERATOR Situational Awareness: https://sa-sim.com/ | The Air Combat Dojo: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
Vyrtuoz Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Thanks for the feedback! You are right, in Tacview 1.3.3, weapons sources are not always displayed in order to reduce clutter. That said, you can notice that weapons fired by currently selected objects are outlined. You can also move your mouse cursor over any object to display all available details about it. This is still a work in progress. I agree that the current flight log is not easy to read with a loaded battlefield. This is why it is going to be completely revamped in Tacview 2.0. You will then be able to easily spot the events of your choice at a glimpse. Hi Virtuoz, Great work with the new release!
