I miss the Crimea map :-(

As far as I know ED has sacrificed Crimea for the benefit of having more countries at the south eastern part of the map. Thus it´s possible to include more parties for Missions (I am not certain if this has really been the reason to cut Crimea off). Basically I´d like to see it again as well.

Should be possible when EDGE is out... maybe even extend the current map to crimea.

 

The current map was limited by DirectX 9 draw calls AFAIK. The question is, how much effort is it, to convert the "old" pre-Flaming Cliffs 2.0 map to the current map?

If they did it, it would be my very last choice for a new map purchase. I've been flying over this one (which is basically the same thing with slightly different borders) for too long.

We need maps for the East China Sea, South China Sea, Persian Gulf, and the Korean Peninsula. Just like we did during the flight sim golden days of the '90s.

We get real war zones like Strait of Hormuz, need more of Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria and of course Afghanistan with A-10C and Mi-8 / SU-25... the thing with Crimea is, the elevation map, street grid, airports, towns all exist from the old crimea map. If it is a few weeks effort to convert them into the current map with EDGE (not doing them from scratch), I would not complain, but be happy to get one larger map now, rather then a Korean peninsula in 2020. Just saying.

I guess if you really want to include Ukraine, the old map has some advantages to the current. I actually liked some the airbases in the old map more than the ones in Georgia. Also the Crimea map has a convenient border (Kerch straight) that makes it a better base for NATO aircraft in the region (not as good as Turkey though).

 

Georgia is kind of a curious place for Blue side to set up its forces, especially F-15's, tankers, and AWACS. The Crimea map, if you're trying to sort of follow real world border, is slightly more appealing to me for believable scenarios.
