Hey all,

I just ordered the Warthog combo and are in the need for an extension to ease the load on my muscles :) I do remember the F16 springs back in the 90s and they strained most of my right arm's muscles at certain times LoL. Not speaking about the added precision with a longer lever etc..

Which one do you think is the best one around ? any major differences between them ??

I got the 12.5 cm extension from Simpit technologies not long ago and made up a floor mount to have it set up between my legs. Definitely worth doing, makes a great joystick even better. Flying the FW 190 and Bf 109 so much easier from making the stick a lot less twitchy when making small movements.

They make other length extensions and recommend the 12.5 for the most realistic feel, as for the floor mount that is up to you to make something up to suit you, and as stable as you can. The height of you chair is the main thing when deciding on the height of your mount. I had a measuring tape and held that were the joystick would be and measured down to the floor, with the 12.5 cm extension installed the height of the joystick from the base plate it mounted to up to the palm rest on the joystick is 26 cm. with the distance you got from measuring with the tape from the floor to where you want the stick to be(50 cm for me). Go 50 - 26 = 24 cm floor mount.

I went to the local hardware store and got metal table leg, a 100mm pvc pipe cap and 100mm pvc pipe plug, a bolt and washers and screws and let my inner Macgyver loose.

Bit of mucking around but definitely worth it.

I will have a look once it arrives and I also need to tailor my sim pit somehow.

The crucial thing is that my muscles and bones start to ache if I sit uncomfortably for several hours, I will have to make my desk etc. according to those needs. Since I just moved and my gaming room is still a pile of boxes, this might take a while...

Isnt 12.5cm too short from the floor ? I mean, it should rise all the way up between my legs just as in a real cockpit, isn't that too short for this ??

Hello Bit. Give some more details about your pit. Especially what type of seat you use. Is it normal office chair or something lower like obutto racing chair? Whats really important how far is your seat from the floor? - this can vary. Are you planning to mount it also between your legs or side?

Bought one of wasyl00's 100mm extensions, and made a receiver for the base of the WH stick so that it slides into the front of my chair on the underside of the seat. The 100 mm is just the right height so that my arm rests on the arm rest of the chair and my hand grips the stick in a comfortable position. With the extension you can rotate the stick into a direction that make button and switch access even easier. Might look a little weird not facing directly away from the pilot, but it is way more comfortable. The accuracy of the stick is much improved with the extension and now requires very little extreme range efforts on the stick. I'm sold and the product I got from wasyl00 is top of the drawer.

Putting the extension on is only half the job. An extension long enough to let you mount the stick at floor level would be too long. You will need to raise it up on a mount to get it to the height you want. Surprised someone dosn't manufacture something for it. A piece of round steel tubing with two round plates of steel welded at ether end the same diameter as the base of the joystick and just pick the height you want. That way just screw the joystick with the extension to one end and the other to a piece of ply wood for the base.

Dose anyone Know the thread size of the four screws that hold the joystick to the base plate? wouldnt mind getting some longer ones.

The 4 screws are standard M4 machine screws.

I bought one of Wassy100's extensions too.....the 80mm one and it's a permanent fixture to my Warthog joystick now.

Can't recommend his enough. It's brilliant.

Here's a link to his original thread for them
