Apologies if this is the wrong place for this.

Anyone know what's happened to Coretex page on this forum?

I seen a post last night claiming Coretex had suspended development on their F/A18 as announced on their Facebook page.

The plot thickens....

There facebook page does indeed say "Development is currently on hold."

Tbh, if they're not a licenced third party developer and they've put development on hold, there's no point them having their own section in this forum. All you'll see if it was left is people going "info please" and no responses.

I'd imagine once they sort out any problems and resume development, they'll get a thread or sub forum back.

"on hold" means "temporarily not progressing" - that is at least my understanding. If now every 3rd party project gets kicked off the forums whenever they are on vacation or take a break for whatever other reason, then we will soon run out of 3rd party devs ...

What I am trying to say is, making such an announcement on FB was already a bit alarming. Now even their sub-forum is gone. And still no official word about it. This does not help to build up trust in the whole 3rd party dev idea - they come and go and more projects fail than succees so far - if my math does not fail me too badly.

I also somewhat diskile that all those forums are gone/hidden/whatever. Why not just make them read-only - but leave them readable ... for "historical" reasons? Often they contain valuable information directly or indirectly related to other areas of the sim that are lost for everyone...

Oh well, guess this was more like a rant now. Sry. But I bet, this thread will not survive too long, either....

Seems CTD will not survive too, unfortunately, just like VPJT, IRIS, Studio Beczl, Kinney Interactive, RRG Studio

May the THRUST be with you

Lets put things on the table - this is not FSX and addons are required to meet a much, MUCH higher standard, not everyone can hack it.

Whe have have nothing to put on the table - whe have no information about what is or has been happening here. And that is - at least for me - a big part of the criticism of the whole situation.

There has been a small discussion going on on the DCS facebook group page. Some have suggested that Eagle Dynamics is working on the F-18C and they don't want the competition from Coretex with the F-18E. But I think that is BS. The Bug and the superbug may look alike, but they are completly different aircraft. Like the MiG-29 and the Su-27. It also has been suggested that some of the 'advisors' are F-18E pilots themselves and they are not available now because they got send on a cruise or a mission or something. And maybe for an accurate F-18E, you need to implement a lot of details that are simply classified.

Would've been nice tough to see a realistic ultra-modern western fighter.

Happy Flying! :pilotfly:

I have a feeling this is completely ED related. Obviously this has zero chance of progressing without AG Radar(which is on ED) and if they released the F/A-18E before the C it would put a huge dent into EDs C model sales. It's just my opinion but only makes marketing sense. Really sad because this was the one module I was most looking forward to. Guess 2015 it's going to be a boring year for high performce Jets.... The only realistic hope is maybe the Eurofighter(fingers crossed).

I agree. I wonder how the Eurofighter is going to be modeled and I fear the same situation.

Why should we users have to know about their dirty laundry ?

Some people were following this project for 3 years and were looking forward to it... Maybe they would like to hear more?

Eurofighter? That's a funny way of spelling Mirage 2000.

Jk. smile.gif

IF we get at least one modern fast jet this year, then it's not gonna be a total waste...

Personally I do not care about any dirty laundry. But, although somewhat fitting for the past communications policy of CTD, a mere "it's on hold" with subsequently their sub-forum here disappearing is a bit ... meager? I mean, that's it now? They're gone and we just move on, as if they never existed?

A tiny bit of background - that is all I would like to hear.

The sub forum was removed a while back not, subsequent to yesterday's " it's on hold ' message.

The subforum was moved, to the Mods section, a while ago and then removed since the FB announcement.

That is nonsense, CTD was still at least a couple of years from releasing. WAAAY after ED with C-model no matter how you look at it.

More likely CTD had to stop since they were doing only part-time, did not have enough resources and/or information and so on.

So practical issues mostly, nothing political.

I imagine working part time on a highly complex fighter jet for a highly complex simulator is immensely difficult + it's their first project. There are too many unknown things to start speculating why it's on hold. A small statement would indeed be welcome.

It is weird this thread still exist :O

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Don't forget the Mirage, it's not as advanced but a 4th gen multirole fast mover..And how many of them are there in DCS? :)
To be fair, the Mirage 2000C, being developed by Metal 2 Mesh, is a pure bred fighter, it does'nt have an air to ground radar. So they should'nt run into any problems with that.

My guess is that Coretex is waiting for something, after all they're saying it's on hold, not that it's cancelled ;)

I think its finished. Being relegated to mod status is proof enough for me its gone.

Based on what exacly? If anything the opposite is true since the CTD hornet has had a gameplay preview while the ED hornet had a few meager screenshots
