thanks AirTito, I hope we all can create interesting missions for BD.

Weta43, thanks for posting the shots. Imagine deep-penetration strikes by a pod of Black Sharks. I wonder how that would play out in a coop with human opfor?

Hey, does anyone remember the mission builder in Digital Intergration's Tornado? That was a sweet one.

OT: Hey overclockers beware of water-cooling. When I first heard about it, I thought I'd give it a spin. So I opened up the case, and tossed a glass of water on the cpu, and...Oh wait. No! I can''t wait! I can't wait!!! I can't wait for BS either!! :D

What im saying, is im getting sick of this run around.the potential release date has gone from 2006 maybe 2007, and now maybe 2008. in that timeframe, two products could have been released. from the tone of this board that ive been hearing, i will take 'maybe 2008' in black shark-ese to mean definately 2008, if not 2009.

Yeah I hate waiting for game releases too but then after they do come out, I forgot all about the waiting and praise every extra month that was put into development.

Ed and Oleg (of Il-2) are long lost Siamese twins, but facing each other at 180 degrees so they can deny each other existence... that explains why both sims are 2 years late.. or an awfully weird coinicidence..

I know one thing for sure. When release day finally will come we will be in much better position than beta-testers who found xmas presents before xmas in mother's closet. They will envy us :P to putting our hands on fresh, free of bugs (i hope), finished product, ha, ha, ha :D - "Now we will be Sprite and you betas will be the thirst."

Lol :P

But then again, when you're playing Black Shark, we might move on to ED's next project, whatever that may be :D (speculating)

Caught some new bits about the ME on the Russian forum that I can relay here for those interested.

The mission file format will be completely different in the new ME. It will be a .zip archive, containing a LUA file describing the initial global conditions, ABRIS navigation data and text and image briefing files. If time allows, ED would like to implement audio and video briefing files as well.

To explain further - the entire mission is exported into a LUA file, which will theoretically allow missions to be written completely independent of the editor. This means modders will have access to mission files, making it possible to create 3rd party generators or even entire editors.

The ABRIS file is used to save custom ABRIS information if the designer or the pilot in-game adds custom ABRIS data for the mission (such as creating a new route or placing markers or lines on the ABRIS digital map, etc.)

Also, the munitions screen has been redesigned and will now be a more military-style front view of the aircraft. I believe it will now be possible to load cannon ammunition as an option. Don't know about countermeasures.

That means cannon load will have it's weight? If so with countermeasures should be similar. Don't know how is it now but I think gun munition doesn't weigh.

Interesting stuff! Will it be possible to export the full mission state (allowing dynamic campaigns?). One feature that would be nice is some kind of text interface where the player can choose alternative plot options between missions.

Do you have any idea what the state is when it comes to different rocket mixes? It would make sense that rocket pod and cluster bomb fillings could be customized if cannon ammunition can be.

Also will it be possible to fire chambers KGMU2 individually (instead of all at once)?

Lock-on

Hi Poko,

A little diffrent topic now, if you don't mind...

Looking at all stuff you exchange here with other guys.., I'm one of the biggest rookies overe here.

Do you know about any source to get a new missions for Flamming Cliffs ? Does someone countinously create them ? I do not like Editor option as campaign must something you do nor expect.

Thanks for your answer.

Here You go: http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=143#cat

and here: http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=4&lang=en

You can ask whatever you want about Mission Editor. Everyone will help you - Im sure about that. But dont do that here. Make a new thread in Mission & Campaigns section :)

Can we edit ABRS data out BlackShark?? I mean, Can we edit that data using some kind of ABRIS simulator independient of BlackShark?

The LUA mission file will describe the initial state of the world for the given mission. I'm not a programmer, but I'd imagine that a campaign system would require back-end mission data (i.e. state of the world at mission end). I don't know how such info will be handled by the new ME or if it will be accessable to the user. ED is developing a new campaign system as well, but no details have been released about this yet.

What I mentioned in my earlier post is all I know about the new payload editor at this time.

Are you sure that would be realistic?

ED has said that Shkval and ABRIS data is not likely to be made exportable at this point. They are aware of the requests for this and it's on the list.

Sorry EvilBivol-1, I think my statement wasn't very clear. I mean, like OpenFalcon, can we modify ABRIS data-cartridge OUTSIDE Ka-50 cockpit? Or maybe in other application, neither Lockon. For example, in Reality XP's Garmin Flight Simulators addon, you have an external application, Garmin GNS530 simulator really, for training and for generating some flight plan previously you start the Sim. That is what I mean!

Regards!!!
